I'm an atheist who was raised in childhood as a fundamentalist evangelical, and is definitely never going back to that. I don't know why but I can't stop watching your channel. I was also raised in a fundamentalist evangelical household. I left the faith as a teenager, vowing that I would never turn back to Christianity. I tried other religions for a few years, but became an atheist after University. After years of searching I finally found the Catholic church, it truly felt like home. I can't believe I returned to Christianity after the terrible experience I had, but The Catholic church is different. I encourage you to attend mass, and see how different Christianity can be when practiced with sound doctrine. Also if you haven't heard of him, lookup Bishop Barron. He was a key player in my return to Christ.

@@ryanaenglish Thank you for your story. I've attended mass a few times now because of this channel and felt incredible peace, directly in contrast to evangelical church, where I always felt pressured to perform some undefined proof of my sincerity. I'm not converted yet but I know there's something that's pulling me in this direction. I'll look up Bishop Barron, thanks for the recommendation.

Hi Chris, just give this some thought- Catholicism started w Jesus and His Apostles passed the same religion on for Sixteen centuries . Then Luther ‘protested’ then Calvin didn’t agree w Luther , then Zwingli etc etc. We’ve never wavered in our fundamental beliefs and Jesus gives us Himself at every mass as He said at the Last Supper. Read all of the gospel of John- food for thought. Good luck on your journey.

Me too bro. I think we are all the body of Christ. This petty in fighting in the church Is a reflection of the sinful, fallen nature of man. We always look for an enemy to point fingers at. Paul talked about people were fighting amongst themselves, one group claiming they follow Paul while the other group follow Apollos......too many labels, too much division and it all boils down to what Paul said. He warned us about the dangers of petty infighting yet so many people have missed the point entirely.

Do you pray it a certain way? I don't know how better to ask that question but I will share that while I am praying the rosary I am not able to focus on the mysteries. Sometimes I think about the people I want to dedicate the rosary to; such as people who I want to convert to Christianity or people I am trying to forgive and ask that they change and see the wrongfulness of their sin (for my sin too!), or for countries/people in strife... I have so many things I am asking for. It seems even when I am not praying the rosary, I am praying all day for EVERYthing. However, and this is why I ask, I don't feel joy and peace from praying the rosary, I feel like I am on a mission as if I am working. It's a passion. I feel compelled to do these things.I don't plan it that way. Sometimes I get exhausted and have to take a few days off and don't go at it so hard.

I've been on a 10 year journey from realizing how destructive my atheism or "non-religion" was. I started by trying to find wisdom that would benefit my life and mind, and began discovering religious teachings as my mind kept opening to these ideas. A few days ago I laid in my bed, and told Jesus Christ that I accept him as my Lord and Savior, but I worry it wasn't sincere. I will keep going.

When I first turned to Christ, I didn't do as he would have wanted and have the radical change that I should have had, but you must trust that it is God who searches for you and he will lead you on. There's nothing you can do to earn God's love or favour or anything. He gives it to you freely out of love for you. I'm not sure if this helps, but feeling like you may not have been sincere isn't a bad thing and you just need to tell the Lord that you feel that way. He will guide you and you just need to be receptive.

God bless you. It's by His grace that you've made this step. I really recommend reading the Gospel of John. I truly found Jesus there, and I haven't looked back since. When you believe with your heart and profess with your mouth, you will be saved...... romans 10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved..... keep going! Jesus is real!

@@juliankonkani I read your blog post, but you have made some very bold claims which even border on racist. Remember catholic means universal. We are to reach out to people of all nations so that people bow the knee to God at all ends of the Earth. St. Paul wrote to the Greeks and cited their philosophers in order to explain concepts to them. He did not tout his Jewish faith as superior to theirs (although it is the only true faith), but rather reached out to them to show them that they had discovered some of God's truths yet needed to know THE Truth incarnate because only He truly can set us free. That should be our approach; not going with an attitude of superiority.

I grew up with hip hop/ rap music - not knowing anything about the lyrics bc I was young. But when I grew up and started listening to the words - I had to make a conscious decision to stop listening to my fave tunes (the beats just give you VIBES). If we play this over and over in our heads and around us, and we are singing these songs and words over and over, we are actually praying them (whether we intentionally mean to or not). So take up your cross, pay a small sacrifice, and learn to drop things that are earthly - no matter how small they are!

Couple of things. First, I appreciate what the Father had to say about Matt at the beginning. As an Orthodox Christian, Matt is my favorite Catholic out there, and I listen to pints all the time! I've been deeply grateful for the work Matt has been doing, and his work has greatly influenced my own work and ministry, and been a huge part of my own walk as an Orthodox believer. The second thing is, I really appreciate the discussion about the Holy Spirit and the little decisions we make in life. The thing is, most people try to justify their behavior, and that is very dangerous. We squeeze out the Holy Spirit when we are not willing to repent. I loved what Matt said, "It is a contradiction to say that you want to believe in God but do not want to repent of sin." If we lack the humility to repent before God, and we instead choose the idols of sin, then we will not experience the Holy Spirit's work.

Now that I’m old and watching videos like this I kind of envy young people today who can plug into this guidance. Growing up in the 40’s/50’s/60’s we had the Latin Mass, Catholic schools with sometime kind sisters, and we memorized the catechism but I don’t recall this kind of evangelism and formation which is now so available on the internet. Most of my family members of my generation left the church along with other childish things, as they think, and their children and grandchildren hardly give it a thought. It was a way of life that we grew up with but if you don’t fall in love with Jesus why would you stay in the Church? You men are sure doing your part, God bless you. love that Fr Mark is humble enough to admit how he gets so mad he has to confess it. I feel that so much every day now with trying to figure out how certain people don't see what is happening with our country. And how we have to try to teach about Jesus, or just getting people to even acknowledge there is a Jesus even if they don't follow him, its so frustrating but more so just so SAD. Just today someone told me that "I was avoiding reality because I want an ancient book to be right about my life like daily horoscopes or a Magic 8-ball"

I have the same problem. Most of the time I mention something religious my atheist friends back home either ignore me or say “It’s fine, I don’t need it” or worse, “says your religion”. I get so sad and caught up in what you could call “righteous anger” that it takes me a minute to calm down and nicely text back.

I had been listening about praying for holy priests for years, and it never made sense for me. Since summer 2019 I had a hunch, but the covid crisis has been a real eye-opener, about holiness in the Church, and about what was simmering under our feet in the world. Everything fits perfectly together now. Now I know where lukewarm attitudes lead to. Everything makes sense now. It is a pity that something like this has happened to make me understand what way we were going... The last part of the conversation is inspiring. I have been considering eternity with God more often lately.

Matt, Listening to the interview with Fr. Mark gave me an idea I would like you to consider. There are many priests out there who, in these times of church and societal crisis are courageously serving their parish communities and building the kingdom of God. Perhaps you could interview them, compile a few different interviews of different priests together and you have an hour show of inspiration. My parish priest is one such pastor who holds confession in the church parking lot three days a week, holds two masses a day with the rosary being said before mass and four masses on Sundays all outside. And he preaches clearly about Our Savior Jesus Christ and invokes the blessing of Our Lady. He and his associate pastor and resident fellow priest, who does a virtual bible study once a week are truly inspirational. It's an idea to pray about and consider. May God continue to bless your efforts as you build His kingdom.

Same, I have somewhat of a bias against the charismatics. I think praise and worship music is corny and that praying in tongues is just silly. But I've seen a lot of very good and holy priests that are charismatic and also when I've been to charismatic churches I notice they are always very reverent with the Eucharist and take confession very seriously. It's not really for me, I'm more of a TLM kinda guy, but I have to admit it does seem like they bear good fruits and are really doing a lot of good.

@@herrschmidt412 when I reverted to our faith in the nineties, it was very Charismatic. Hands up in the air and praising God. In a way there is really nothing wrong with that. As time went by, I prefer being more subdued in other words more traditional. But if it wasn’t for the Charismatic renewal, I would not be where I am. Perhaps it’s the same for others. It’s called maturing in the faith as time goes by. Truly grateful to them. And yes, I follow the Novus Ordo Mass and it’s extremely reverent.

Praying for Pints ministry and for you, Matt - and all who read this. I’m a Catholic 25 years (seems like 5) from atheist. #1 - I’m amazed my conversion happened as I was a far left liberal, living so sinfully, but completely clueless about it #2 - I’m amazed I’m a Catholic at this time in history! #3 - thank God for Matt Fradd, Fr. Mark, Fr. Anthony Pillari (Fatima rosary crusade), Fr. Mike Schmitz, & so many more. #4 - I’m so grateful for you bringing up exactly what I’ve struggled with - I love my Catholic faith but have been so upset about how many in the Church are trying to destroy it. I’ve continued to evangelize when the opportunity comes to me, while acknowledging what’s going on (as much as I understand it). Yet I’ve been shut down by friends who think my speaking on the Church’s ailments doesn’t help at all. My best friend’s husband just became a deacon and the other friend is a deacon at my church. Sometimes it makes me wonder if they’re just drinking the koolaid, following the company line, ya know? They think when I’m talking with, for example, my own kids who have left the faith, I should only speak positive and ignore the bad stuff. I’ve been admitting some of the Church failures yet promoting the true Catholic Church. I’m still so excited that the true faith, is real and I’m all in! Despite all that’s going on, my faith is increasing - not wavering. They think I should stop watching tv/computer and concentrate only on prayer, Scripture, Mass, and parish happenings. #5 So that’s why I’m so thrilled with this particular video, with two people I’ve come to trust (realizing they’re just humans like me) having the same squirminess as I am. May God continue to bless us all, wherever we are, to seek Him and the Truth, and try to bring more people to the Cross and their personal encounter with the Lord.

@hiltonchapman4844 3 жыл бұрын
@@thethreefriends3002 Re your response to me "I think it is to allow prayer streaks (streams?) and to allow you to pray on the go" Thank you for your response. Appreciate it! This is actually a misconception, that "prayer streams" are possible only via apps. If you think about it an app is used (MAINLY!) to automatically connect to a website and bring (PULL) in notifications to your handheld device (that "ting!" you hear from time to time). An app can do much more than just "notify" you, agreed. But these other facilities are not really necessary for the subject purpose of "praying". And it is these other facilities that are matters of concern - think privacy issues and security issues! - in the real world. I'm confident that you have read about various hacks and intrusions of privacy and data exfiltration and similar criminal incidents all over the world. Well, apps play a major part in these nefarious activities because the app resides on your device and executes locally on your device. Being resident and active on your device the app can access (cum permissio but more about that later) your personal data like photographs, contacts, messages, location, and can even activate the camera and microphone on your device. In the last sentence I mentioned that the app needs your permission to do all that funny stuff - but here's the problem: all it takes is one Trojan app to hijack the permissions protocol on your device. That means, unbeknownst to you, a simple download can grant all access and permissions to that particular app, and other apps may also take advantage of this security hole. Anyway, this is getting pretty long-winded, and unnecessary over here. What I'm saying is that there is a website that is the hub of the content and communication processes, app or no app. As far as "praying on the go" is concerned, you can access a website on the go without an app! See, the web is already a dangerous ecosystem - an app just makes it all that more dangerous. If an app is really, really essential for some particular operation, then fine! But, just like pill-popping, it mustn't be indiscriminate. Once again, thanks for your response. God bless! HC-JAIPUR (03/Feb/2021)

The practice of receiving Holy Communion in the hand started in Holland during the early 1960s. The unsanctioned practice spread to Belgium, France and Germany. Pope Paul VI directed the bishops to immediately stop the practice. The Bishops continued the practice despite the Pope’s plead to stop. In 1969 Pope Paul VI decided to strike a compromise with his disobedient bishops. Given “the gravity of the matter,” the pope would not authorize Communion in the hand. He was, however, open to bestowing an indult - an exception to the law (not a right but a permission)- under certain conditions: first, an indult could not be given to a country in which Communion in the hand was not an already established practice; second, the bishops in countries where it was established must approve of the practice “by a secret vote and with a two-thirds majority.” The indult was an attempt to contain the practice of communion in the hand; not to propagate it. So how did Communion in the hand arrive in the United States where the practice was not wide spread? In 1975 and again in 1976, Archbishop Joseph Bernardin, the president of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops (NCCB) attempted in vain to garner two-thirds of the bishops to vote in favor of receiving Communion in the hand. Bernardin conducted a third vote that once more fell short of the two-thirds majority. This, however, did not end the matter. Bernardin decided to (unlawfully) begin gathering “absentee votes” from any bishop he could find - including retired bishops who no longer administered any dioceses. Consequently, the number was adjusted to meet the two-thirds majority. In summary, the practice of communion in the hand was thus born out of disobedience and granted to the United States due to an illegal rigged vote. In 1950, 87% believed in the Real Presence. Today, that number has plummeted to a mere 34%. The abusive and hurried manner in which the practice of Communion in the hand was imposed led to a widespread lack of reverence for the Eucharist and caused great pain for many in the Church. Every particle of the host, after consecration, has become the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ. Communion in the hand allows loose particles to fall off the host onto the hand and floor. It is desecration of the Eucharist and a sacrilege to allow these unconsumed particles of the host to fall to the floor and be trampled on, left in our pockets, smeared on the steering wheel, run through the washing machine, etc. Knowing that communion on the hand creates significantly higher incident rate of desecration of our Lord means we have a moral obligation to receive in our Lord in the more reverent manner, kneeling and on the tongue. The Congregation for Divine Worship, Vatican, responding to a question about denying communion on the tongue during the H1N1 "swine flu" pandemic: "[The CDW] observes that its Instruction Redemptionis Sacramentum (25 March 2004) clearly stipulates that 'each of the faithful always has the right to receive Holy Communion on the tongue', nor is it licit to deny Holy Communion to any of Christ’s faithful who are not impeded by law from receiving the Holy Eucharist."

Father Mark mentioned reading spiritual books with an open heart as a way to conversion. My conversion was similar. I remember hearing Olavo de Carvalho, famous brazilian philosopher, mentioning eucharistic miracles and the apparitions of Our Lady at Fátima. Many years later I started frantically researching those topics and my intellectual thirst was satisfied when I finally understood: "This is True. I need to become catholic" and God blessed me with real, deep catholic friends that taught me many wonderful things about our religion.

Hello to all, and thank you both for doing what you are doing for our Lord Jesus Christ, and his kingdom! What caught my attention was the idea that God could have picked someone way more qualified than I! Ten years ago God, and my experience in my life, and my wonderful godmother ( R.I.P.) I started noticing that there are 245 ( Orthodox/Catholic Bibles) verses which speak specifically regarding God's love, and care for the poor! Now, in the KJV there are 197 verses regarding the same issues, and these stories got inside my head, and heart which started festering deep inside my heart. It drove me to start a blog over this just to get it out of me, pressure cooker kinda stuff. Anyway, I thank God for laying this upon my old heart after laying to rest a girlfriend who passed away from cancer in 2003, and was married to a Catholic girl in 2008, had wonderful times, and laid her to rest in 2012. So, I've been homeless for about a decade now, and in having these verses hound me like the hounds of heaven, and having very little to lose anymore I talk to anyone who will hold still long enough to hear me out so maybe they will understand how much God loves us, and especially the poor, needy, windows, fatherless! Thank you gentlemen for being courageous enough to do what you do! Praise God, and may all the glory be His! Amen! God bless you!

I took to my bed and for three days I prayed and begged God to let me know Him. I received a light that was brighter than any light I could describe. The light was like a refreshing drink of water. I knew then that God was there and although I got caught up in everyday life, I came to rely on this knowledge for me personally, but didn’t know how to share it with others.
