Here's my experience with this song: I had been sending my sister BTS songs I thought she might like to introduce her to them and Korean contemporary in general. Her reaction was "hmmm I think we have different taste in music. I like Lord Huron and more rock". OK, I had just listened to my first song from this new band and it had definite indie rock flavor, so I sent her She's in the Rain - happily sure she would like it. She called me sobbing. She had been standing outside, it was raining, and she listened without reading lyrics. She said "It's about Lindsay." Lindsay was her daughter who had been murdered 2 years previously. I freaked out. "No! It's a breakup song!" "No, it's a grief song!" I apologized for upsetting her but she thanked me. We eventually hung up. I listened to the song again with lyrics and broke down. There's a point "You wanna hurt yourself I'll stay with you; you wanna make yourself go through the pain; it's better to be held than holding on; no woah; we're in the rain" where I could suddenly hear the voice switch from my sister to my niece, gently telling her mom to let go. Then in the last lines it goes back to my sister - more at peace with the grief. I don't know if she has ever read the English lyrics, but she has played this at least once a day for the last year. I'm sorry if this was tedious, I wrote it fast.

it’s very rare for an artist to sound better live then they do on a record, woosung is one of those very few artists whose voice is magic like that. dojoon is the rhythm guitar/keyboardist. i love his voice as well, it’s a bit rougher then woosungs but it compliments the lead vocal so well that once woosung takes over it feels like a breath of fresh air. jaehyeong is the bassist who can also sing, he has a sweet voice. hajoon is the drummer. Woosung's voice is like those sweet rare honey on a cold night. that's how i picture his voice, the vulnerability in his voice wows me. I watched them live and I'm telling you, THEY'RE A HUNDRED TIMES BETTER than live videos and studio versions. They're sooo good that when I listened to their songs on my playlist after the concert, it didn't do justice. I missed them. If only I could listen to them live forever...

There's no video or anything but The Rose recently did a song for a show (OST) for Strangers From Hell, the song is called Strangers, I believe. I'm curious what your thoughts would be cause the song gives me Chevelle vibes. It's a COMPLETELY different vibe from their normal stuff, and super refreshing to see them step out and try something new as well.

I had the luck to see them live twice... And those concerts were two of the best I ever attended. You could see that all four of them enjoy doing music and performing so much, which makes me appreciate their music even more. This guy is really something else! Totally agree, Woosung is a unique singer and one of the best vocalists ever. My confession is that 'Sorry' and 'She's in the Rain' are songs that give me goosebumps and I can't help but cry a little every single time I listen to them. The emotional connection is too much. Yesssss. So glad you're checking out more of The Rose. Also very very glad you tried for a real live performance. There's a lot of their big name live stages with the backing track (as live kpop tends to do even when not necessary) but they aren't nearly as good as the real lives. If you need a go-to, search for "The Rose Culture Warehouse" for most of their songs you're interested in. That series of performances are all real stuff, and they've done a lot there. Sorry and Red are great songs to check out next (although they do have MVs). Thanks for sharing!

I agree! They do make errors, sometimes in the middle of a performance, and they just stop and start over. But that’s live music and I love it! Every performance is also different. Love this band. And to think I just discovered them 2 weeks ago while just randomly perusing various Coachella 2024!performances. I was instantly captivated by The Rose. Been listening to their music exclusively since then.

im so glad you could listen to more of The Rose. :) Some of my favorite songs of theirs are “Strangers”, “insomnia”, and “i dont know you”. Itd be super nice if youd listen to them, regardless if you upload a video reacting to them. Woosung appears in a show called Superband, and i really think that youd like it. Theres no subs but you could look at the performances.... some of the videos on youtube got privated/taken down, but Superband has so many talented people in it.

yes, dojoon (other vocalist) switches between keyboard and guitar. woosung is my bias but man, dojoon has incredible energy live. saw them in dallas and he was on 100% the whole night and plays really well with the crowd. very personable and entertaining! idk if you’ve checked out woosung’s solo work but i’d definitely suggest that next. these guys are so great. “sorry” is what first hooked me and then i fell down a rabbit hole watching their busking videos and cover songs. LOOOVE their cover of coldplay’s “yellow.” ugh. right in the feels.

Island you need to check up "Still Love you" a stunning collaboration between the singers Yoo Hwe Sung (N.Flying) and Lee Hong Gi (Ft. Island), it's amazing! And Ft. Island "Quit" is amazing! I got to see them live when they were in Stockholm. It was a kinda small venue, but I've been to many concerts there and I've rarely seen the palace as packed as that day. I wasn't sure if I was going to have a good time or not since non of my friends were able to come with me, but it truly turned out to be one of the best concerts I've ever been to ❤️

Just found your channel and love your reaction and how you understand music. I love the rose and been there since the beginning, which is Sorry, so I hope you check that out. But like you said, the lyrics are so we'll written Especially towards the end when he sings "we're in the rain" instead of "she's in the rain" the progress of the song from just sad to hopeful really shows a change of perspective and I'll tell you, I cried when I first listen to it. This song I one of my absolute favourites! I bawled so hard when I first heard it. The lyrics resonated with me because I've been the girl dying inside, and wanting to hurt herself. It's taken so much strength, effort, and time to pull myself back from that darkness. "You wanna hurt yourself, I'll stay with you. You wanna make yourself go though the pain. It's better to be held, than holding on." Those lyrics in particular always, always get me, because it's so true. When you're in that state, in that darkness, being alone is the worst. Having someone you can talk to or just having someone there, even in if you're not talking. Does wonders.
