Werewolf Metal. I mean, how have I not heard of this before?! Powerwolf turns gothic-tinged compositions with werewolf and vampire legends into pure ear candy, and I am totally here for that! "Dancing With The Dead" is based off of the Sacred Ritual of Famadihana where one digs up a grave and dances with a corpse. How is that personified in the music video? I guess we'll find out!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Powerwolf for the very first time, performing "Dancing with the Dead”.

Yes, they made up backstories for their characters and said that Attila is an opera singer from Romania, but some especially non-metal-related media thought they were serious. I think that's quite hilarious actually. I really like the band.

Should be a real good one. Attila has some classical training, the gothic themes are right up your street and the music is just fun. Their live shows are great fun too, lots of crowd interaction and Falk Maria Schlegel the keyboardist and Attila play off each other really well. I'm a big powerwolf fan. Army of the Night and We drink your blood are their big songs and worth a look. Armata Stigoi and Venom of Venus are bangers. There's a cool version of Demons are a girls best friend with Alissa from Arch enemy that's pretty fun too.

Like most bands, they have singalong sections in some of their songs where they tell the audience what to sing. Watching Attila do this is hilarious because it comes off as nothing so much as an impromptu mass singing lesson (he insists the crowd be on key and not flat, and actually put some resonance into it.) Check out some of the live videos of Armata Strigoi for what this can look like.

I'm so happy you found out about Powerwolf, they have found the perfect formula to making very very catchy metal songs! I'd recommend that you listen to "Armata Strigoi", especially a live version! (they interact a lot with the audience)

finally, powerwolf! Honestly this band is on my 'must see live' - their live shows look like so much fun, great crowd interaction and some songs crowd can sing along (Armata Strigoi, anyone?). I'm surprised they are not bigger, ya know like Nightwish or Epica level popularity. Really great music, music videos well produced and the guys in the band seem all round nice guys who love music.

I had never heard of Powerwolf before seeing this analysis, but the whole vibe of this band caught my attention right away, and I haven't been able to stop listening to them since. So thanks to Elizabeth and the community in here for introducing me to yet another amazing band ❤️

They quickly became a favorite of mine because of the melodic combinations they've crafted. His voice is powerful, the music is just catchy, and that organ man--reminds me of the days growing up when church would say that loud guitar music is bad.

I would say that all of their songs are catchy and awsome. continuing with powermetal you should check out Battlebeast, Noora's voice is so unique. And also youtube singer Dan Vacs that dude is pure magic.

I totally agree that Noora has an outstanding great voice - should be very interesting to see a reaction from a professional voice coach ;-). My favorite songs are "Eden" and - from the latest album - "Wings Of Light". This is just pure power and energy. Take care

Definitely would love to see Battle Beast. Her range mixed with the ability to sing so clean and distorted is great. I’d add Familiar Hell to the list too.

That's my fav song of Powerwolf! Thank you! I'm so glad I saw them live in Ukraine in 2019, they closed the Faine Misto festival. Such an energy! Hope to see them sometime in future again. There were comments below of recommending "Armata Strigoi" and "Venom of Venus". They are so great, I absolutely agree. Although I'd like to add one more, "Mother Mary is a Bird of Prey". Maybe it's not so popular but I think it's an interesting sample of Atilla's vocals.

I've seen them live when they came to Brazil right before the 2020 stuff. It was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. Their performance is SO MUCH FUN. So energetic. Probably one of my favorite live acts to date.

Ou, thank you for adding Powerwolf to this channel. One of my favorite bands in Powermetal!! Another funny song of them is "Resurrection by erection", a more critical one would be one of their german songs "Stossgebet". They also have ballads like "alive or undead"

The makeup style you're looking at is called 'Corpse paint', and its pretty common for European metal band. How realistic it looks depends on the band members preferences, usually, but I am super fond of the style Powerwolf uses that it looks like old school black and white film makeup.

Thanks Elizabeth. I am a music lover, though I’ve never seen anyone who loves music as much a you do, it makes each analysis so great. I think you’d enjoy the band Orphans of Dusk. They share some traits with Type O Negative, but also include harsh vocals and death metal influence, and just contain so much emotion and expression.

Yeeeeees PowerWolf is one of my favorite bands and I'm really excited to see you get in to them. Edit: Theres so many songs of theirs I could recommend. But I'll stick to a few with music videos: We Drink Your Blood, Amen and Attack, Fire and Forgive, and Beast of Gevudan (this last one is really fun with the real world history behind it, the version in french is really well done).

Awesome reaction as usual, and while this might be a little off subject from this particular video specifically, I just wanted to say that I just love all of your videos, your insight, and just your general demeanor overall, you're always so upbeat and positive and best of all, genuine and all of that just radiates through the screen. If I had one complaint about anything on your channel it would have to be that we don't get to see or hear enough of your own singing, I am still fairly new to your channel having just accidentally run across a couple of your other posts recently and started watching from there so maybe there are more posts of you singing or performing and I just haven't found them yet but I saw an older video a little while ago on another channel of a friend of yours I assume he is by the name of Sean Daniel if I'm not mistaken where he and you just did a little snippet of a song with only his guitar, the one where he is completely stunned when you open your mouth and he realizes that he has forgotten how extremely powerful an opera singers voice can be lol, and just today actually did I finally put 2 and 2 together and realized that this powerhouse opera singer on that video was YOU! I had no idea, don't ask me why I didn't see it before lol, but right then and there I decided that we definitely don't get to hear you sing nearly enough, what an amazing voice you had in that video and it was just way too short lol! Please tell me where if there is a place to see more of your amazing talent! And thank you again for another great reaction video!
