Individually, I've heard Scott Weiland on a few Stone Temple Pilots tracks, and of course Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum from Guns & Roses. And having talked with Myles Kennedy extensively in a tea time about his offer to front Velvet Revolver and turning it down, it's just been an itch I knew I needed to scratch at some point. And here we are! What a rollercoaster this one is!

I quit drinking recently because it nearly killed me. My liver started failing and I couldn't urinate. I spent three days in the hospital. After that I was making monthly visits to the hospital after bingeing so I could get ativan so it could ease my hangovers. They were getting so bad I was getting very scared I was on my way out. I checked myself into rehab, and I'll be at 90 days sober tomorrow. The lyrics to this song are so incredibly real to an addict.

Scott made it to 48, which is something of a miracle. He was a man who was not likely to make it to 30. He was on the Howard Stern show one time and just picked up a gas mask and put it on to start a song, and it was just epic. What a performer. RIP

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS - "Sour Girl" SOMEBODY has to react to this song. The thing with Weiland was, he had like 3 or 4 very distinct singing voices. From song to song, year to year, you might not even think it was the same guy if you didn't know better. It was incredible.

@@joebartlett3255 I agree, Slash is interesting for sure. He is very much a blues player who incorporates it into rock. Very melodic, he knows how to harmonize. One of his signatures is a string bend where he bends up to achieve the next note he is looking to hit. He does this tons and its not an easy thing to do the way he pulls it off. People who say he's overrated really don't know what they are talking about.

I relapsed on drugs and alcohol in the summer of 2021.Shame kept me from interacting with anyone in person so my friendships were all online. Isolation is the one thing I think most all addicts can relate to. June 6th of 2022 I entered the Life Recovery Program at the Union Gospel Mission and have been clean for 2 years 9 days. I am now a peer counselor and work with others that struggle with addiction. This song is a reminder for me, how things were and where I never want to go again.

Slash has an amazing ability to weave his guitar around the vocals in a way that almost makes it another voice. Not quite a harmony, but a counterpoint. When I was in music school, I learned the language to speak of things I only intuitively knew, but couldn't put into words. I imagine his guitar like a dragon flying around the serpent of the vocal line. They dance around each other and it's wondrous to behold.

I absolutely don’t have a problem with you talking and stopping so much, heck, I’ve heard these songs in their entirety so many times, having you analyze them is a breath of fresh air…. Thank you so much for doing what you do, no matter what anyone else says. When I’m in the dumps, I know I can put one of your reactions on and completely forget about me and focus on what you’re saying. ❤❤❤❤ Thank you again for what you bring to the world of music.

Slash and Scott get, and deserve a lot of praise... But Duff is so underrated. His bass playing with Slash's guitar in the beginning is fantastic.

Scott Weiland was one of the greats. He had such a gift while at the same time fighting so many demons. I'm 11 years sober myself. This song never ceases to break my heart while also making me grateful for each day that I have clean. It hits both emotions at once. Masterpiece.

Stone Temple Pilots’ “Purple” album has really great songs on it. You would love Pretty Penny. Scott Weiland’s solo album, “12 Bar Blues”, the song “Barbarella” is a great showcase of his talents.

In my early 20’s after partying a friend of mine died, blue, limp, lifeless. I had 911 on the phone while I resuscitated him, he puked on me, took a breath and i watched the life come back into him, i hung up on 911 before i could give them the address. my buddy got up and walked off, and then 20 minutes later drove himself home, he had no idea what happened and was more or less un-phased It left me with deep emotional scars. life is fragile, way more fragile then you or i think. that candle can be extinguished so easily. I think this song is beautiful. But the video makes me cry every time

One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Weiland was a great showman. They sounded great and played what you wanted to hear. Some GnR and STP songs, too. They played "I used to love her," everyone but Matt Sorum sat on the front of the monitors, it was a really cool moment.

Hearing Scott sing 'Creep' years before "I'm half the man that I used to be' and seeing the actual transformation to how he looked before he died is insane foreshadowing. RIP

I know - I thought the same thing,. All that heroin turned turned him into a skeleton - literally half the man he used to be. So sad. Though I was in my 20s in the 90s, I never really followed STP but now watching videos, I have to say he was an amazing frontman. You can't take your eyes off him when he was on stage. I wish I had been more tuned in back in the day.

I am on year 6 of antidepressant protracted acute withdrawal syndrome. I was on the antidepressant for about a year and after it damaged my brain and neurological system i had to stop. I was bedridden for 3 years and I'm not getting better. This isnt an isolated case millions go through what I am going through. This song pretty much describes the hell. Sure I still take opiates but those are in no way as deadly and damaging as antidepressants. ❤

7:40 - "suddenly starts to feel like you're free there, i dont know how to describe it another way" you already tottaly describe it! That feeling is something that only music can provide. Its really cool to see someone feeling this for the first time with a "new" music. Your job is amazing! (A drunk brazillian guy here, sorry for the bad english) all the best!

I find playing an instrument along with music very therapeutic. I'll put a flash drive of MP3s into my surround sound system, crank it up, and play along to the songs on my Bass guitar. Even if I can only play the root note of the chord changes, it helps me feel connected to something and gets those endorphins flowing.
