The writer of this song, Lucio Dalla (from Bologna, northern Italy), wrote this in 1986 while staying in one of the rooms where Enrico Caruso, former famous tenor (From Neaples, southern Italy), spent the final days of his life. Caruso was 48-years-old when he died, and a few years before Caruso died, he married Dorothy Park Benjamin who was 20 years younger. They had a baby girl they named Gloria. Lucio Dalla wrote this song while imagining how Caruso, who knew he was dying, would have said goodbye to his young wife - the love of his life. curiosity: in sicilian dialect the word caruso means (ragazzo)=boy.

We rewatched it 3 more times before calling the kids in and forcing them to watch it.

The reason why she’s so good at keeping notes without falling apart is because she said in an interview that she lives philosophically with the way of the catharsis, she believe that the way to deliver ourselves from pain is to live it and face it without fear and just taking it, it’s the reason why she stay stronger no matter what emotions she have to deal in a song!

Hello Elizabeth! Great reaction and great analysis. Yes, Lara is fluent in Italian because Italian is one of her native languages from her mother's side who is Sicilian, the other is French from her father's side who is Belgian. Lara lived in Italy until she was 5 years old, then her dad moved the family back to Belgium. Caruso is a song that usually male opera tenor legends like Pavarotti, Domingo, Carreras, Kaufman and Bocelli has in their repertoire because it takes a masterful, powerful voice to deliver it to perfection. I'm Lara's age and I haven't come across any other female singer yet who came even close to perform it like Lara did. She gave an absolute masterclass on how to perform such an emotionally charged song without losing the ability to carry out every single note. I think it is truly one her unique talents. I've been following her career over 25 years now and I've seen her live on stage a handful of times. It's absolutely remarkable that Lara's voice is near studio quality when you hear her live. Few people asked me if her voice is really this good or it's just a studio editing for the tape. I can honestly say that her voice is like this in real life. Yes, every live tape is edited for mass production to clear up background noise and enhance certain parts of the music, but it's true with every artist no matter if you are just a newcomer or world class singer like Bocelli. So, yes, Lara is this good and then some!

One of my favourites too. She co-wrote "Broken Vow" with Walter Afansieff, who has co-written a new song that Dimash is working on, "Love is Not Over Yet". Lara and Dimash are composer Igor Krutoy's two favourite artists to write for, and now Afansieff has singled them out too. I will always be grateful that Lara was such a major influence on Dimash's development. The pair of them are the only singers who have ever moved me to tears without understanding the language they're singing. Lara is a vocal goddess.

I came across a video of Lara performing this song well over a year ago, and I literally wept. And every time I listen to it, i still weep! She truly is a modern bard in her ability to transport her audience into the experience of the music.

Lara Fabian has one of the most Beautiful voices on the Planet. If you had to list the 10 Best Female singers in the World she would be on the list without a doubt.

An infinite thank you for presenting Lara Fabian's incredibly beautiful performance in stage presence by Caruso. She is unique in this interpretation of Caruso in every in and out of her voice and in every movement. Thank you from Sweden..

She's not a singer... she's an experience! Her performance of "Caruso" is the one that made me fall in love with her years ago. ♥️🎶 Note: She was born in Brussels. Her father was from Belgium and her mother was from Sicily. She lived the first part of her childhood in Sicily and Italian was her first language. She's also lived in Quebec and Belgium.

Grand! Isn`t it a shame Lara and Pavarotti didn`t get to do a duett on this? He did this song at the same time and his version is also great......I really like your reactions. Thanks!

She deserves more recognition, because her talent is truly an the vocals skills are always on point. She can sing in many languages: Italian, French, English and Portuguese, passing the same emotion and high quality vocals in each one. Lara is a unique artist.👏🏻

I’m Canadian and am proud of how masterfully Lara performs this beautiful song. Another version to note is done by Pavarotti and Lucio Dalla (who wrote the song Caruso). They are amazing together. It also helps to understand what’s going on in the song by reading the translated lyrics. Please consider reviewing this piece.
