Iron Maiden "Fear of the Dark" REACTION & ANALYSIS by Vocal Coach / Opera Singer

It's been a while since we've done some Iron Maiden on this channel, so it's time to bring Bruce Dickinson back for more analysis. I asked our Patrons what song should be next up, and they all voted for "Fear of the Dark." I think I'm ready for more #horsestance!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Iron Maiden performing "Fear of the Dark” live on the Death On The Road tour. (Yes, I know Flight 666 has better quality and energy, but the vocals are difficult to analyze. I tested a few seconds before I filmed, and we decided on this version. I review the Flight 666 version BEFORE my outro, so will still see it!)

@@brianeleighton dude, who cares. I never watch these retard "react" videos because they are stupid, and this one just confirmed it. I like Bruce's voice and maybe just because of that I got a little curious and watched this one a bit and got annoyed. I don't like all the fake over reacting. No one does this hysteria watching music videos alone or even with friends in a normal situation. But then there is the "react" videos of these people crazy for attention making stupid faces, eyes and mouths in front of the camera. The reason so many people like such videos is beyond comprehension. Stupidity in this modern society is a huge thing. But hey! I just made a little comment and that's no big deal. But since you get so bothered, I am telling you a bit more. But you like it? Enjoy it dude!

One thing you have to remember about Iron Maiden, Elizabeth, is that they don't play TO an audience, they play WITH the audience. I was born in 1981 and thanks to my uncle I began to listen to Heavy Metal since I was in my crib. My first memory comes with "Bark at the moon", obviously I listened to it years after the release, but I was 4 years old. Then, during my kindergarten years I discovered Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and many more cool bands. If there is a band who joins me with my uncle (he was like a dad for me), it's Iron Maiden. Sometimes I listened to albums of the 80's... Powerslave, Piece of mind, The seventh son of the seventh son... The whole decade and it's magic and I shall accept it, I cry... I thank to my uncle, whenever he is. I miss him. Receive my best wishes for you and your beloved ones

Bruce has stated that he makes exaggerated movements in an effort to be more visibly present for the people seated far from the stage. It also must be noted the relationship between the band and the fans in Rock n Roll and heavy metal. It is a trade off of power. Bands have talked about this energy exchange. As fans at the event, we feel it and we give back. If you are an emotional person, it might make you tear up to feel it.

My "fear of the dark" is that my stepdad was trying to help me overcome the fear of the dark when I was 10 or 11 years old. He said, and I will quote, "You aren't afraid of the dark, you're afraid of what it hides." That was the whole pep talk to me at 10 or 11 years old. Not a word after it. I then asked what hides in the dark. His reply: "You never know." That terrified me for another couple of decades. I'd still be afraid that HE was going to be what was hiding in the dark were it not for his death a couple of decades back.

I was afraid of the dark for much longer than "normal" kids would usually be...at times I've attributed this to watching too many of the "wrong" movies growing up (which are great films that I love now, like Alien and The Thing), but yeah, it was more of a fear of the "unseen" than being creeped out by ghosts and monsters. For me the real shift for getting over that was studying the martial arts...once I reached a certain level of proficiency the unknown just became a lot less scary.

People rightly focus on Fear of the Dark, Hallowed be thy Name, Rime of the ancient mariner, etc when doing reactions, but Powerslave is one of my favorites

that was their first album I bought and I will hear "scream for me Long Beach" when I think of Iron Maiden for the rest of my life

I was 14 years old and saw them live during the Powerslave tour. I lost my damn mind when the giant mummy Eddie came out on stage 🤯

One of my favorite songs to play on guitar! So theatrical, Iron Maiden has been one of my favorite bands since I was 15. I'm so happy to watch and analyze vocals and sounds. I'm learning so much Elizabeth. Thank you for your work and time to make truly great videos that teach us, entertain us, and you are a very beautiful woman to watch smile and react to our favorite music. All my respects and light sent to you! ❤

Iron Maiden was easily one of the bands that opened my ten (or eleven) year old eyes. They were the first band I saw in concert in fact! It is absolutely amazing to see them still filling stadiums. Far as what I fear in the dark.. sadly that is mundane. This old grunt is most afraid of startling a skunk at night!

I love the studio albums, but the live sets are what make Iron Maiden truly great. No one ever leaves a Maiden concert disappointed

Deep Purple - Child In Time. Would really like to see your reaction and hear the analysis. There's also a great solo from Ritchie Blackmore (studio version tho).

There is a reason Maiden still sells out stadiums around the globe for 40 years and running, and it isn't because they suck. Up the Irons!!

For me the best live "Fear of the dark" performance is the one from Rock in Rio Album from 2002

I really like the version she chose for the reasons she explained, how Bruce in the beginning alternates between singing and kinda telling the lyrics like an evil bedtime story! Though the pants he wore in Rio are sick as hell
