Hi Stephanie, lovely video. John James Audubon was actually born in Haiti in 1785 at the time when Haiti was Saint-Domingue, a French colony. Haiti was the wealthiest colony of the French Empire. He actually arrived in the United States with a false passport to avoid being taken to the Napoleonic War

@@deanyaschempp lovely idea, but I can assure you having managed small luxury inns, extra activities like teas, small weddings, extras at meals in the inn, are very hard to put on the kitchen who makes three meals every day, and the guests who have paid well to have access to all of the chateau will not appreciate sharing the space….all extra activities were added only for fully paying guests….that chapel is going to attract a lot of curiosity though!

My mother gave me a couple of 'tea cloths' that look like table cloths but are much finer and lighter as they were made to cover the laid table to protect it until everyone sat down. When I was a student of 18 I saw a gorgeous white on white tablecloth in the window of a junk shop that was shut so I found a piece or paper, scribbled on it 'please keep the table cloth for me' and after wrapping a few coins in it I posted it through the letter box and went back two days later to get it. It is heavily embroidered with thistles (I'm Scottish) and has a deep lace edge. I've never actually used it but still have it.

Thank you for taking us to the brocante, you all looked so lovely in your hats! The church you took us to where the chapel restorers we’re working was beautiful, I gasped when the little alcove restored in the blue pattern appeared, absolutely exquisite. To think of the details and the artist vision… is mind blowing. Philip I so appreciate your love of beautiful and yet functional things. My mother would put into my lunch box a tea towel so that when I ate my lunch in school I could have it to lay upon my desk. It was pink and white check with ivy leaves and the most beautiful little tea pot in the center. It really made me smile when I saw it and made me think of home as I was not fond of school I would have rather been home playing in the garden with my dog!

I am so lost on Saturday nights without the LaLanders!! Marie, your meals are quite simply ‘art forms’ on a plate? My late Mother always used tray liners which belonged to her Mother and beautifully embroidered. When I carry my 4 glasses of water etc up to bed the glasses slide all over so I am determined to find some myself!! Philip has sublime taste! I love your dress Stephanie. I think your Mother/Mummy is so beautiful and delightful and Percy tries very hard!!! The Brocantes have so much I’d love to buy especially the pretty blue tea set? It’s good to see you have a full house with your lovely guests. Hope Davy returns soon!! Is the elusive Nick with his lovely family? This has made me very happy as always. And now I must go to bed, it’s very late here in Devon, UK and I’m naughty because I should be able to wait until morning…. 😏 but I can’t!!!!! 😳😅😅☀️💐🍦🍦🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️🥰 All of the vlogs are just super.

The tray cloth, that has the slit is known as cut work. The probably used a buttonhole or blanket stitch in two rows leaving a space between them in order to cut the design. I too love embroidery and it is being lost these days as young people are not interested in learning the needlecrafts. I have some of my mother's and my grandmothers work, which would make the pieces over 60+ yrs old, as I am 72. All the tray cloths are beautiful but I particularly like the blue flowered one with the cut work.

I saw in a magazine - vintage cottage- a nice way to display a napkin, folded in thirds the length then above a charger that was wicker then the main dish. A nice way to display for an outside meal. What kind of mattress did you purchase, a mattress protector will help with any warranty. Glad you got a new mattress, it's actually recommend every 10 years. And rotate the mattress every now and then. I like that you don't have to worry about navigating stairs. And it looks firm but soft which I prefer. When I got a new mattress I also slept like a baby. What a difference especially with new types of mattresses, the only draw back is sheets deep enough for the new thicker mattresses. The watering yolk with two buckets would be nice to display in the garden room. Cheers

I was once a waitress. Yes, those tray liners are the best. We used to use little paper rounds. I like how you both can have different tastes but still purchase what you like. So important. I would’ve bought that glass frame too, but so much more 😁

Phillip finds tray liners & Stephanie thinks of ALLLLL the lovely foods she can nibble on....and whiskey soda to boot. 😂🎉 Of ALL the treasures Phillip has brought home, that was my favorite exchange. ❤
