A part of maturing is realizing the difference between what's needed, what's essential, and what are desires. Tbh vast majority of what we spend our money on is materialism based. But once you have a hold up moment, you can see where you are, make changes, then proceed🙂. For myself I no longer spend a ton of money at Starbucks. At one point I was going there 3-4 times a week(this went on for a really long time over a year). Until one day I realized I can save so much money by purchasing a coffeemaker, some good quality coffee and cook bfast at home. Its has saved me so much time and money. 🙂

Exactly! Not to mention all the DIY videos floating around on your Starbuck coffees, so you can basically make your own Starbucks or Dunkins coffee at home and they taste wayyy better

😂😂😂😂 starbucks got me for about 100-125/wk when it first was built across from my job. I looked at my bank account one day and told myself, "no maam! You have free coffee at work!" So now i go maybe once a week.
@Martina_E2 жыл бұрын
Right, I used to work at Starbucks and I'm like I can make that at home. I bought a frother, oat milk, maple syrup, tea and make all my lattes at home every day. I look forward to it - a way better experience than Starbucks. Also, I learned that I have to take my time shopping (I shop online because I'm extremely picky) try stuff on with all my wardrobe pieces) and then if they don't work I will take them back if I don't like them. I have minimal space and I am a minimalist. Then when I have the items I do a cost per wear analysis.

Hello Lovie, I agree with no longer buys. I used to be a shopaholic so therefore I was in debt. God freed me from my debt and I vowed to Him I will not go back. With that saying, I used to change my house decors according to the seasons, no more, then I had a fine clothing store that the staff knew me by name, no longer do I go there. It had been so long that I shopped there my credit card had been cancelled and I didn't even know it. I would shop and then when the bill came in I would be unhappy. I loved shopping, multiple items every color just in case yes that was me too. Tags after tags sometimes never getting to the items. I couldn't go into a store without coming out with a few bags no matter what store it was. Now I can go look around and be just as content. I can go along with someone else and be happy for them. I have come along way and PRAISE BE TO GOD, HE DID IT. HE FREED ME FROM THAT SHOPPING DEMON!!!

I would NEVER understand why people need to have 15 Rolex, 50 chanel bagd, when we all have 2 hands, 24 hours a day, women must of the Time go with the same bag everyday for at least 1 week, like who really has Time to change a handbag every morning? The stuff that I've been working on not buying is hair products, pre-poos, and I've been choosing to buy deep conditioner instead of both that and the regular conditioners, a bunch of hair creams, etc. I don't want to be a product junky anymore. I'm also updating my wardrobe getting rid of clothing as well.

My list has changed over time simply because my lifestyle has changed..Here's my list 1. Disposable products(toilet paper excluded lol)-no paper/foam plates, paper towels, utensils, aluminum pans, sandwich bags, etc 2. Christmas Decor-we are holiday decorators BUT we've collected so much decor that it made our apartment look cheap 3. Bottled water-recently got rid of our water dispenser because prices increased WAY too much and too often. 5 gallon bottles went from $7.99 to $12.99 in TWO YEARS. Replaced with a Brita pitcher. 4. Cheap clothes/fast fashion-I have a few staples pieces and that's it. Classic and timeless for me nowadays 5. Nail Salons/Hair Salons-as a SAHM who spends 80% of my time at home, I don't want to spend my "outside" time waiting for appointments that aren't kept and just the entire process of getting those things done is exhausting. KZbin is my go-to these days for hairstyles and my press ons are cheaper with barely any wait time. 6. Body Care items-WHEW the self care community for Bath and Body Works had a chokehold on me for a long time! I was buying things just to have a "collection" when in reality, the products weren't that great(the body sprays don't last and the body creams were drying my skin out). I do still buy the occasional candle when on sale...and the sales are scarce. Yikes 7. Most processed foods-I just can't eat food that has a mile long list of ingredients that I can't pronounce anymore. 8. Buying things just because it's on sale OR I had a coupon( I stopped couponing years ago because our eating habits changed. Most coupons are for processed foods or disposable products. When's the last time you've seen a coupon for fruits and veggies?) 9. Kitchen appliances-I just got rid of my blender and Instant Pot. I was on a smoothie kick for awhile then totally stopped. Instant Pot was a "trend" I got into then realized I only used it for ribs, collard greens and rice. 10. Bleach-I know my African American community will ban me LMAO...BUT I've always hated the smell, it's toxic and there's a world of other things that can clean/disinfect besides bleach. 11. Kid Toys-Our son is autistic and literally doesn't play with toys at all unless he's in his therapy session. 12. Soda-my husband had an insane addiction to Pepsi. I mean a 12 pack would be gone in 2 days.

My list is almost identical to your list. I don't have the will power to pass up a good sale yet 🤣 your hair is cute!

Great list Kim. You are a very smart woman. Having things you don’t need or will never use will definitely save you $$$ . Having tons of clutter is very wasteful. I would love to see a video on the things you would buy or invest in . 😊❤️

I completely agree with most of these, I just feel naked without a watch and earrings, lol. I kept going to the store and forgetting dryer sheets, after about a month, I decided that I don’t really need them so that’s on my “I will no longer buy” list.

I actually use dryer balls. So I haven't spent money on dryer sheets in years

I'm in the same boat with you on the alcohol, a cup of tea or decaffeinated coffee is also my go to for the nightly wind down.

I agree with the seasonal so much...I didn't even put up a xmas tree last year lol...I'm really working towards more of a minimalistic life.

I agree with all your choices. NY has outlawed plastic bags so we have to bring our own reusable bags to the grocery store or pay 5 cents for a paper bag so I got rid of the small trash bins in my home. Great video

Just watched this & agree w/most of your list. In Cali though - we now have to pay 10 cents each for grocery bags - they make them heavy duty so you can reuse them so I only use them in my cans when they’re on their last leg. I used to buy magazines too - love them! But in San Diego the SD library has an app where you can borrow them to read OR if I have extra time…I’ll go to the actual library to look thru them. Blessings & Hugs! 🧡🌻 PS. Love your hair with the bigger braids

Love how you were scratching talking about motels...🤣😂 Also I have been buying cards from DT for years. It's the only way to go. You had some good ones on there, I think a lot of ppl are becoming minimalist or at least I am. Good video 👍🏾

I love using conditioner to shave 😌🤩. So silky during application and leaves the skin soft and moisturized. Loving the tips, Kim ☺️🔥

Excellent list! You are wise beyond your years! Your rationale makes so much sense! One thing I would recommend (if you don’t already) using DE razors. So much cheaper and a better shave and better for the environment than disposable razors.

Yes I’m the same with buying liquor for my house, I never drink it. Also my toilet paper is definitely something I can’t compromise on

No cheap paper towels or single ply tissue for me either, cause you end up using way more to get the job done. And, it's a wrap on all those unnecessary hair products. They're too expensive and take up too much space. And honestly, a few is all that's needed.

I love souvenirs!!! Lol. My cousin brings me stuff all the time and I love it. I got a key chain that blinked my name from Barbados’s I got a little jewelry box from Bermuda Turtle salt and pepper shakers from Jamaica, a hand made bag from Mexico ( I actually use it as my purse I like different purses) I got my cousin a handmade piggy bank from Mexico too. The kind you gotta break to take out. Love this stuff 🤣🤣🤣

Kim, I'm always filling up my cart online with things I don't really need. And I always leave the items in there. And after a week, I go through the cart and remove over half of those items. It's saved me thousands I'm sure! But I refuse to buy expensive perfume ever again. I love essential oils and the proper mix can yield some amazing fragrances for super cheap!!!!

Buying a souvenir for me is buying a local item( liquor/ candy) or house item( teapot etc) I use the scarf I bought in Barcelona all the time and it makes me think about that trip ❤️

Girl! I wish we could get more than 1 ply toilet paper! Our system can’t take it. We’re talking plumber time! Turns out it’s not just us. During the pandemic, the local hardware store my neighbor worked at gave their employees free paper products and they offered to share toilet paper because their system couldn’t take the plush stuff either! 😂😂 We’ve been here for years, we’re just used to it now, BUT it must be Scott. Love your videos!❤️ The new intro is 🔥!

This video spoke to my heart! I hated when people would being me back shot glasses as I am not a drinker and so they always got donated. 🤷🏽♀️ thongs got moved years ago for the exact same reason! Seasonal decor I never sid either because I hate clutter. If i decorate I stick to christmas and maybe Halloween. 🤷🏽♀️ and focus more on the colors
