As a European, I can't quite wrap my head around the grain problem that the EU and Ukraine are having. If Ukraine now has limited possibilities to transport its grain throughout the Black Sea due to occupied ports in its south and southeast, and also because the infrastructure at its last major port in Odessa is bombarded almost around the clock, why can't Europe find a way to transfer this grain through, for example, the nearest states like Poland or Romania? This way, the grain could be on the move and transported to where it's needed. If money is not a problem in the EU, why can't they do that, rather than just flooding the EU market with grain that's actually meant for African countries or Asian markets? Where is a will there is a way, or isn't it?
@anghDescartes6 ай бұрын
It is cheaper for ukrainian sellers to not transport the grain far away to large enough ports. They prefer to sell it asap and return to country. It is as well cheaper for grain processing companies in Poland/ Romania to buy cheap Ukrainian grain, than more expensive grain from local producers. And it is more expensive due to number of limitations in production, which ukraine do not have. Surely this directly affect farmers, and with planned further EU regulations to even more reduce the use of chemicals farmers got angry enough to go on the streets (you know that farmer in EU after doing any kind of work with chemicals have to make a pictures of the field, record work done, weather, time and so on?) Because opening of the borders for ukrainian grain was made very quickly, there were no option to provide guarantees that grain will reach ports and will be loaded on ships to move it further away. This made possible to take the advantage of, and just now EU is putting more work to address those issues. But milk has already spilled and it will take months to get it under control. This was unprecednsed situation and regulations made thinking every will do their best to follow happy path. That's not how it works in reality, though.
@retkvi6 ай бұрын
@@anghDescartes Too much talk and the outcome is zero, or at least unhappy EU farmers. The EU has been putting in more work for already 2 years, and it's still in the making. It's too slow, even slower. The main problem is that Ukrainian grain is 2-4 times cheaper than that of EU farmers, and their silos with produced grain are still half full when they should already be almost empty. So the question is, why doesn't the EU command Ukrainian truck drivers to go with their cheap grain only to the ports where it could be transported onto a boat and sailed to where it needs to go, as it was before the war? The EU could assist with those transport costs and perhaps even with those boats, if such a possibility exists, and with the oversight of specific regulatory bodies. Because when someone buys cheap grain from Ukraine right on the border, it is mostly misused for enrichment. They buy cheap grain and then sell it for the normal or slightly cheaper price to the seller. The market is ruined, and farmers must either sell below the price or not at all.
@anghDescartes6 ай бұрын
@@retkvi "why doesn't the EU command Ukrainian truck drivers to go with their cheap grain only to the ports where it could be transported onto a boat and sailed to where it needs to go, as it was before the war?" They did. They didn't listen. Polish grain industry as well tried to benefit from cheaper grain. And ports in Poland are too small to handle that amount of grain, they do not have required infrastructure.

But in the South, there is simply nothing there! It's not forest. There are no mountains. There is no river there, not even a stream... Just a field, on one side and on the other, cut in half by a fence. It wouldn't be an easy place to defend. The Russian tanks, if they ever get there, could just roll over this fence into Poland... There is nothing there to stop them. There are no natural obsticles, and no man-made ones. Nothing. Except for the fence... I'm sure the Polish army could lay a minefield in a matter of days. But building concrete bunkers, would take much longer. I'm glad the Ukrainians are holding the Russians far, far away from this unprotected field.

But he is the perfect Foreign Minister... I hope he does not leave that post to be the EU Defence Commissioner when that position is created. The very serious grain problem was caused by a poorly conceived EU opening up of the grain market to Ukraine, taken advantage of by dealers in Poland. The defeat of the corrupt Kaczyński regime in Poland has left the October 15th Coalition with a real mess to clean up. Transporting grain through Poland is not very efficient, given that Ukraine has the Russian rail gauge and Poland has the Standard. Furthermore, the EC is constantly introducing onerous new regulations to reduce over-production of food and its environmental impact, and this too is driving the pan-European revolt of the farmers. Note that Ukrainian grain production is entirely in the hands of a few oligarchs and giant multinational corporations which took over Soviet collectives, whereas European agribusiness is much more based on many smaller entities and family farms. In Poland, there was only limited collectivisation under Communism.
@rys34866 ай бұрын
Who is Sikorski? In its analysis, the British Independent described Sikorski as: "a citizen of Great Britain representing the interests of big international capital...". His actions supporting the federalization of the EU and the complete subordination of national countries, including the sovereignty over finances and banks to the German presidency in the EU (as The Economist wrote in September 2012), are in contradiction with the declarations of his party and the national interest of Poland. Once again, Poles have elected leaders who strive to subordinate the interests of this nation to foreign influences.

Of course, those ties could change in the event of a second Trump presidency, but what is needed most is an alliance to kick Russia out of Ukraine and deter any other threats from Russia.

To watch the goings on in Poland right now, today's mega agro and their supporters' countrywide protests much like in most of Europe against the EU's green policies (according to a French EU M.P. one in 10 French farmers are committing suicide!) - today, in the Polish parliament, Donald Tusk (ostensibly absent; took a ski vacation in Italy his second month in office...) is getting scorched in absentia in not coming through with a single one of his sweetheart "100 electoral promises to materialize within 100 days"!!! Poland is in critical disarray... one anti polish move after another! A hostile takeover by the unelected EU commission's Head and her team - with Donald Tusk, Mr. Sikorski in her inner circle. There is so much subversive anti polish stuff going on. There's even an entry in Wikepedia... check it out: "antipolonism"... Tusk and his coalition's boogeymen are on the the attack attempting to destroy Poland's sovereignty: media, justice system, its currency, invade without arms... Western media "mums the word" - scandalous hypocrisy! God save Poland who has valiantly fought for its freedom and statehood across the centuries!
@maciejkavoss95215 ай бұрын
Wonder how many of the journalists present are aware of Tusk's abominable antidemocratic moves of the last 3 months in power (parliamentary chaos - otherwise circus - forced takeover of media, judicial system, procurator's offices, dismissive abt the massive anti green demonstrations as in the rest of Europe, ousting of Poland's accomplished head of national bank... arrests, break ins into MP's homes at 6am to take their laptops and their children's devices. Poles refer to Tusk's strongman tactics as the return of martial law's communist Zomo police... beating up on farmers, chaos all round with prices going up and the "100 in 100 days" promises barely kept but for the morning after abortion pill... electoral lies to fool the voting public. This 8 star coalition (consisting of 9 parties) is a Tusk/EU run anti Polish campaign against the Polish people who take great pride in their ancestors' efforts to keep Poland free and sovereign despite the imperialist attacks and takeovers by their neighbours across the centuries. Despite his easy breezy manners, Mr. Sikorski is a Merkel/von der Leyen man - previously also called by Putin during the RESET days as "our man in Warsaw"... Definitely not a patriot true to his people. Actions speak better than words... His easy breezy manners a deception of what is happening behind the scene.

What happened when Soviets do the same in Cuba , just tried ?Never was Closer to Nuke War . This war , Somalia where Ukrainian soldiers have been fighting Wagner since 2023 .Weapons from.Ucraina has appeared in Somalia To make a coup and next destabilisation after years of tragedy. Does Ucrainian have strategic goals in Africa ? Few years ago I read Russia will fight about our freedom about peoples freedom .
