I fitted knightsbridge flat plate brushed steel like what you've got here, within less than a year the lacquer used on the fittings was wearing off on every light switch and the sockets scratch really easily when plugging things in. Tip: if you match one quinetic switch to more than one receiver... explain to the customer how they work... explain that if the 2 items get out of sync (it happens) all they have to do is turn off the breaker, wait 10 seconds, turn back on.... It saves callouts :).. Speaking from 'omfg' experience

@@Cjrelectrical I have to disagree, I installed a cheep LED flood light from energiser 4 years ago, £14 from Wilco and it’s as bright now as it was when I installed it and still going strong , cheep isn’t always bad . Hey Chris I’m surprised you are allowed to install a batten type fitting in the loft still reachable from the landing because in Australia it has to be above 2400mm as without a lamp it can allow people to insert their fingers and have access to live parts. In Australia we have to make it “stupid proof”
@cjkokay4 жыл бұрын
1800mm

New ones are 'safety' as in when a lamp is not inserted then you still have to push the pins in to make them live and by that point you deserve a belt lol

Nicely done. With the vaulted ceiling and the PIR insulation how do you fit the spots? Or is it battened off the PIR to give a bit of a void? Some building inspectors don’t like them in the celotex. Also is the cable just run along the rafters with the celotex tight against it or above the celotex in the air gap? Cheers.

Normally the builder leaves some cut outs but not on this occasion. This ceiling was luckily battened over and plasterboard on top so I had a nice clear run to wire in.

Why do british wall plates all look so boring and retro.. fat pots sticking out of the plate like a 1930's radio. I kinda like the look of the tiny switches, although I expect them to be rather fiddly compared to the bigger switch plates we use on the mainland, especially in the night.. but the dimmer pots always irritate my sense of design. (brushed aluminium.. well.. looks nice, but I guess those will collect fingerprints and scratches in no time..)
