@@lorenzopacchia9189 I think that's a legit interpretation. Crazy consumerism in our societies surely is a good friend of depression. You don't matter as a person because the point of the world you live in is to make money and buy things. At first you think you're happy because you have material things, but then you begin to understand that life is more than that and that you can't buy happiness/serenity with money. After that epiphany, it's easy to fall in a state of chronic depression, which is due to our without-morals and capitalistic society.

God, what an amazing song. It captures so many ideas and emotions within: the vapidity of modern society, and the alienation and isolation it causes, issues with depression and social anxiety that arise out of said alienation, the works. Truly, this is an all-time classic.

That’s the beauty of the clash they sing about deep themes in an almost happy manor so if you don’t listen closely to the lyrics you’d think it was a happy song. This is why I love Spanish bombs it sounds like a happy song until you actually listen to what the lyrics are saying

This might be one of the most ahead of its time songs ever. Everything from the drums and vocals to even the guitar tone is so modern sounding that if they released it as a modern indie song today, it would still sound fresh, and is still lyrically relevant. It’s a shame this song never got the same mainstream appeal as some of their other big radio hits because this track is incredible.

This song really chimes with me. When I was about 6 an ASDA opened near us; until then we shopped at our local CO-OP which was tiny. I wandered off from my parents and lost them. I started crying as I was so scared but one of the assistants found me and put a message out on the tannoy.
