The Santa Barbara spade and snaffle bits are collectable especially the Garcia maker, but you more likely than not already know that. I used to do the same thing after thrift shopping, add up the full retail prices to see how good of a deal that I got. This was a fun video!

I found a vintage Garcia snaffle on a ratty old bridle at a tack auction once. It is my favorite bit and such an amazing find!

What a great video! Having spent many wonderful years at tack sales, I so appreciate all the great bargains you discovered! I confess, when you panned around the different areas, all I could say was, wait, wait! I want to look at that again! I commend your solid experience and skill set, both in behavior-shaping, retraining, health and dietary management, and simply depth of love and determination to give every horse the best possible outcome into a new life of love and care! From an old horse gal, looking hard at 80, but still turning around to see spring pastures with a solid partner under me.

A while ago, I bought a used leather saddle that had some areas that were squished from being stored wrong. I found out if you place a damp cloth on the leather and then hold a hot iron on it you can get the leather to straighten out. It might work for your dressage saddle.
@thegusk520 Жыл бұрын
Good idea. Are you a woodworker? That's also the way to get small dents out of wood.
@PoM-MoM8 ай бұрын
Exactly. Moisture swells and or relaxes, just not too much. Start with a fine mist spray and literally drops of water. Just like if you have a wrinkled shirt but no iron just put the shirt on a hanger and fine mist it and without stretching it out of shape you can gently pull the wrinkles out and then just it air dry.

What do they stuff those rolls with? Perhaps you could locate a shoe or tack store to open it up, re-stuff, sew shut for a reasonable price. Curious what stuffed with. Foam? Feathers or down? Woolen fabric? Scrap leather?
@paillette20107 ай бұрын
No that’s foam inside the knee roll which has collapsed . It might be wool, but centaur isn’t a fancy brand, so it needs restuffing.

Clever Cowgirl… for me this video proves exactly why your video channel name IS Clever Cowgirl! Wow! You have to have a massive knowledge of horse tack to be able to go through a tax sale like you videod! I love it! You will make a ton of money and Skeletor will have great quality stuff. As I’ve said before I am a city girl from Chicago and I can go through a sale at a thrift store here and pick out great quality clothes. Maybe you can too..that’s why you are the Clever Cowgirl, but there’s no Wayne could go through a sale and pick out tack like you did. Yay! Saving money is always like eating dessert first😀😀😀

I think it is marked Whippy, Stegalite, London, England. I believe this company is out of business and went under Whippy; Whippy & Co. ; Whippy Steggall ; Whippy, Steggal & Co ; Whippy, Stegall, Fleming. They made saddles, harnesses , bits as well as other non equestrian related leather products. Hope this helped.

Holy #$%! you made out like a bandit at that sale! Even though the 17" saddle was too big for most horses and riders I might have snagged that too just because of its quality, that was a nice saddle. I too am a bit of a saddle snob, but my go to riding/working saddle was made for a horse my brother had in high school by a maker in AZ who is long since passed away. When I got out of the Marines I asked my brother if he still had it and he said it was in my aunt's barn and I could have it if I wanted it. Still riding in it all these years later although this year I did try out a Tucker trail saddle for some leisure rides, I don't recommend them, really comfy but very low quality for the price. On the Chicago screws if I find a headstall I really like that has those I buy it and remove the screw and the post and then put another hole in it on each side so I can run them with a blood knot. I hate Chicago screws in anything leather from holsters to headstalls they are one of the worst ideas ever.

Somewhere, I lost my genome for shopping---strangely turned into one of those shop by necessity, for exact things, get in & out nerds. (I don't do Self Check-out, so stores have to hire people I can chat with or annoy.) One exception: I love our local therapeutic riding stable's open Saturdays Tack Shack. So, I really enjoyed & learned from this vid. You've got a very respectful way of seeing, evaluating, appreciating, & releasing what isn't right for now. Plus, you're a power ranger horse ninja ACTION figure. Given what you passed up, your 'haul' was still impressive. (I laughed when you breezily referred to taking a saddle making class---naturally, it's all that spare time.) TY

Nearly every Never Rust from England I had came down throughout the family or friends pipeline. They were decades old and in excellent shape. Even those I bought new, maybe eight or so were made in England and were great. The horses mouths stayed moist but not drooly. If you find any stamped Eldonian grab them.! They stopped making them decades back. sad as the quality was great.! They even made some Western ones.

It looked like the Ariat boots had a hole at the top of the ankle. Is that an easy repair? Also, on used boots, do you replace the insole, or do they remold to the new wearer's foot? The concept of reuse, recycle, and repurpose is huge for me, but footwear can be a tricky area for that

I am trying to get a hold of a very specific helmet made by Champion Helmets. The Helmet I am looking for is the "Champion Revolve X-Air MIPS Skull Cap". They make other ones with similar names but that specific one with all those words is the one I am looking to get. I also want it in black if at all possible. Dover Saddlery has it for $469.95 with free shipping but that is the only place I can find it here in the US. There are a couple things I would like to know. One do you know anywhere I can get it cheaper? If I purchased it in the UK it would run me around half that so I'd really like to find a better price and also do you know anywhere in Montana that stocks Champion helmets so I can go try them on to be sure my normal hat size of 7-1/4 (which I "think" is like 59cm) actually fits? I'd hate to spend all that money (even if you know somewhere cheaper than Dover) only to find out it doesn't fit correctly. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you! - Andy

It’s all original saddle, leathers been chewed by mice and stuff. I guess Lee’s army had moved right through here. The spurs are in perfect condition. Anyway keep up on the videos I love them!
