Boba's change of heart never made that much sense. Sure, they showed him with the Tuskens and learning to become part of their tribe but just because he learned to care for some people doesn't mean he's suddenly nice. The Tuskens aren't nice, they kill and enslave intruders to their land. They could have made Boba a better person who cares for his people but was still ruthless towards his enemies. If you've ever played Fallout: New Vegas, they should have made Boba like Joshua Graham, they even have similar backstories.

I love Ahsoka calling Boba's bluff in your version of the series. It just fits her character so well. In a pinch she took risks and gambles, and was reckless. Just like her master, Anakin. And in her character arc she learned to rely on those reckless impulsive gambles less, but that's still an ability she has when things are going bad.

I dislike it because Boba isn't the kind of character to make an idle threat. He'll use nearly every trick in the book but if he says "I will cut your head off if you do this" he will. He would absolutely kill the Jedi if he made that threat. Similarly he doesn't break contract though unless it's broken on him so he'd likely not make the threat in the first place, instead he'd be more interested in disabling her, ruining limbs, assuming the Force-suppression containments of the EU don't exist in DisCan. It just doesn't work from a character aspect when talking about Boba.

I don't really see it honestly. Boba isn't the kind to let a quarry go, ever, and he doesn't like being compared to the clones in any of the material, nor does he go back on his word or make idle threats. Almost all his interactions with Ahsoka feel pretty out of character. It's closer than Disney, but it doesn't fit. There's too many elements that run counter to Boba's core character. Boba is based on The Man with No Name from the Dollars Trilogy. He's an utter professional, entirely ruthless, and very cold and distant at all times. You can forge a friendship with him, but I just don't think it puts in enough effort over a long enough time, nor does it really keep to the character faithfully. It's a great shot for someone who clearly hasn't looked beyond the films in order to understand the character but it doesn't fit when you go a bit deeper than that.

Boba would be a great supporting character, one that clashes with the heroes. Perhaps he treads the fine line between hero and villain, maybe posing as a threat to both protagonist and antagonist. That would be way more in character than what we got in this show. also I’m of the opinion that boba fett really isn’t a character to make a stand alone show about. Maybe a movie or something, but not an entire show that’s supposed to last multiple seasons. He’s simply way too ruthless and violent to make him a protagonist, not to mention he has barely any screen time in the original movies and was KILLED OFF. Yeah we all kind conveniently forgot about that little fact. So unless it was a case of “bad guy vs even badder guy”, then boba hardly works as a main character. Other than that I don’t see how his limited character traits could fuel a whole show that’s relatively dialogue heavy, at least at certain times. The dialogue is trash but the characters always seem to have something to say. He really should just stay as the “mysterious bad guy that’s ruthless” rather than whatever the hell Disney gave us. The Loki comparison couldn’t be more accurate.

I've been working on an outline for my own rewrite of this show, trying to build off the character that was set up in the Clone Wars show when Boba was a teenager, failed to take vengeance against Mace Windu, and then was basically raised by a series of other bounty hunters such as Bosk and Cad Bane, only to find himself alone and then fed to the Sarlacc. In my mind, he would be bitterly angry when he came out of that, but at himself more than anything. I don't think he would blame Han Solo, which has been depicted a few times in legends, nor do I think would he blame Luke, as they had very little to do with one another despite Boba being instrumental in setting up Vader's trap for Luke. So when he finds himself a slave to the Sand People, who are a tribe of isolated warriors who can be every bit as brutal and unfeeling as he is, it could set off some real soul searching for him, sure. But the way they went about it was all wrong. Firstly, I think he should have killed the other slave who tried to raise the alarm when he tried to escape. Spare the kid in a moment of rare hesitation and honor, but then have him show off his skills as a bounty hunter by taking on every tusken who comes at him, despite his poor health, until finally the best of their warriors engages, and still only barely beats him. They would then see in him a kindred spirit. They wouldn't need the whole scene of sending him off stupidly with only the kid to guard him. Also, have him never say a word to the tuskens. He's always been a man of few words, so he wouldn't waste them if he didn't have any evidence that they spoke basic. From there, have him help the tuskens take on the pikes similarly to how he did in the show, but instead of them randomly getting wiped out, have Cad Bane show up, and say that he was hired by the Pikes to get rid of Boba and his "little tribe" but out of deference to their history together, would give Boba one chance to get the tuskens to back off himself or he'd return and slaughter them all. Boba knows he has no choice. He's not a match for Bane without his armor and gear, so he gets the tuskens to back down, and departs to go recover his things. That's when he runs into Fennec Shand, who he pressures into helping him. Then on the way to recovering the Slave 1, they run into Dengar and team up with him as well. The ship was locked down and neglected, so they need to have it repaired, which will take some time (Dengar knows a good mechanic who will be discreet), so they start looking for Boba's armor in the meantime, and they do it by using their black market connections not flying to the sarlacc pit. Eventually, they track down the Jawas who sold the armor to Cobb Vanth, and after killing some of them and threatening the rest to get the armor's whereabouts, Boba heads out to Mos Pelga to retrieve it, but the Mandalorian got to it first. Fennec advises Boba on who the Mandalorian is, and what he's capable of, and they devise a plan to ambush him and get the armor back. Dengar doesn't want to entangle with the guild, so he sits that one out, but offers to hang out in Mos Espa and see what he can find out about the Pikes' operations in the meantime. From there, we skip ahead to after the end of the Mandalorian season 2, where Fennec fills in Boba on what happened with Luke. He strongly considers going after him, we even get to see a bit of his rage and hatred for the Jedi, but decides he can't betray his word to the Mando, or abandon the tuskens. Fennec asks why he cares about the tuskens, and he can't explain. He's used to being alone, even prefers it that way, but for some reason, they remind him of himself when he was younger, before he grew completely jaded. And though it's not much of an explanation, Fennec declares that if he cares about them as much as he seems to, then that is good enough for her. She'll stand by his side, even once her life debt is repaid. So from that point onward they determine that their mission is to force the Pikes off of Tattooine, and for that, they'll need not just some muscle, but an army. When they return to Tattooine, Dengar tells them about the situation, that the local crime boss, Bib Fortuna is weak, and hasn't pushed back against the Pikes at all, and that the Hutts are upset about this, particularly Jaba's cousins, the twins. So Boba goes to Nal Hutta to speak with them, offering to overthrow Bib Fortuna, in exchange for the military might to go against the Pikes. They make a counter offer, they will allow him to take control of Jaba's forces on Tattooine for his war, but he must ensure that all of Jaba's offworld assets are turned over to them. Afterwards, he can do what he likes with Jaba's Tattooine forces, but if he decides to keep them, he must pay a tribute (something small, like 2% of all profits) to them. This deal gives both sides what they want, and also it gives the Hutts deniability with the Pikes should Boba fail. But they add one more requirement that Boba take one of their own bounty hunters with him, Black Krrsantan, as well as an accounting droid to keep track of their assets and other interests. At first, Boba declines, since he and Krrsantan have bad history, but the Twins insist, and again Boba has no choice. Before they leave, Boba and Fennec decide that if the wookie gladiator is going to be on their team, they might need someone to keep an eye on him and watch their backs, so they agree privately to go recruit Bosk before returning to Tattione. Obviously, this plan doesn't sit well with Krrsantan, or with Bosk at first, but both are persuaded reluctantly. They can spend another episode or two recruiting more bounty hunters, one of the largest such teams ever formed, most of them aren't used to working with so many others, and Boba isn't the best leader, but he has conviction and purpose that he never had before, and he not only learns to make it work, but gradually finds that the responsibilities of leadership suit him. With the team assembled, they are finally ready to storm Jaba's palace, leading to the death of Bib Fortuna and Boba claiming the throne, just as we saw in the Mandalorian season 2 end credits teaser. There's a brief celebration, only for Boba to call for silence, stating that the day may be won, but the war is only just beginning. Their next target will be much harder to bring down. Cut to Cad Bane observing Boba's men from a great distance through binoculars. They are moving about Jaba's palace, making it their own, and Bane growls out some ominous comment about how Boba is way in over his head if he thinks he can play warlord. And that's season 1 of the Book of Boba Fett. The tuskens are still alive, but Bane knows Boba is up to something and the Pikes still need to be dealt with, plus the Hutts have leverage over Boba and are not known to be charitable or compassionate masters. There's still the possibility of a confrontation between Boba and Luke at some point, and it's not totally clear what kind of leader Boba will be. We've seen him act honorably toward the tuskens and other bounty hunters, but also he's been ruthless and cold blooded toward people who get in his way, or who don't matter to his schemes. This would allow the entire crime war between the Fett Enclave and the Pike Syndicate to be its own season. Hope some people find this interesting.

I actually didn't like the rewrite all that much. It skips a lot of nuances in Boba's character despite it being what he wanted to fix. Bossk took Boba in and helped him try for revenge against Mace Windu in the Clone Wars. Boba also served as a clone cadet training for the fight against the droid army. He should hate droids as much as Mando does, because the head honcho of the droid army got his dad killed under stupid orders. These battledroids killed hundreds of thousands of his father's clones, ones that looked just like him, trained with him, and were basically his brothers even if he never fought alongside them. What the tuskens should have taught him is to fight without technology. Boba grew from technology, a perfect clone in a technological marvel of a city with the most advanced training programs and the best treatment money could buy Jango. He has always fought with advanced weapons; tracking rockets, jetpacks, blasters, bombs, disintegrator rifles, carbonite, starships etc etc. Tuskens with nothing but Banthas and cycler slug rifles defied Jabba's control despite his criminal/mercenary might, and Boba learns how a war can be fought without technology from the other side of a conflict he once fought. He works to create a new crime Empire built with both an understanding and negotiation of the Tusken tribes and the remains of Jabba's criminal empire. He takes what people are found loyal and disposes of the rest that grew up in the power vacuum Jabba's death left. The Pikes and their shiny new battledroids bring out the worst in him and he makes an example out of them in a brutal campaign across the cities. A now united Tatooine under a new crime lord is not something the new republic patrols in the area are happy with, but Boba negotiates a truce with the new republic using what he saw in the Mandolorian and what he heard from Mando as proof that the Empire isn't defeated. Luke the only one capable of defeating the secret weapons of the Imperial remnants is off training a new jedi, and won't be around to save the NR from the new flying dark troopers immune to blaster fire and funded by imperials rich enough to pay in crates of pure beskar. He tells of hidden research stations and arms factories of the Imperials still pumping out weapons all across the galaxy, a war with him and his dealings is not something they can afford to pay attention too with them on the loose. While the New Republic is scared shitless and rushes into fighting a hasty new offensive against a perceived comeback by Imperial Remnants (which may or may not be true), he buys time until the black market arms dealers can strengthen his forces enough to negotiate from a position of power with the New Republic, gaining recognition as Daimyo of an independent Tatooine but perhaps not his out of system dealings, leaving it open for more seasons.

They are so lazy in their writing because they know they don’t need to care. As long as people watch anything with the Star Wars (or any other “beloved” property owned by Disney) label slapped onto it without question, writers who can care less about writing a good story have free reign. As long as the script have the semblance of a story, corporate will pass it through since they know, no matter what, people will watch it and Disney will profit. It can be good, it can be bad, does not matter.

I think a very small change they could've made is Boba already knowing Cad Bane killed the Tuscans. Boba would have a specific reason to want to build up his forces if Cad Bane is working for the Pikes. It would also just make Cad Bane more relevant to the whole story and give a clear objective and villain the whole show.

There is a second alternative idea; Have him fail to build the crime empire. He’s a drifter, he doesn’t stay in one place and travels around for his work. His childhood was isolated on a hidden planet surrounded by kids who would be children for 3 weeks and then turned into deadly soldiers. He doesn’t understand how society works yet when he takes over Jabba’s empire he says he wants to rule with compassion and friendship, something a universe like Tatooine just doesn’t really have. A alternative season would have him fail, his idealistic views genuinely crumbling under him in the first season, a second season learning from his mistakes and building up slightly, and then over a long long period of time we see not Boba having an arc but the people of Tatooine as Boba helps turn it from a crime ridden planet with no love to a prosperous fair society.

This "flawless" character trend is honestly driving me up the wall. The thing that entices viewers/readers to engage in a character's story is their flaws mixed with a clear aim and misbelief (Abbie Emmons has a great video on what a misbelief is). A character without flaws is not going to have to struggle to chase their goals and has nothing to personally overcome and therefore is not interesting or relatable. *Edit* My interest in Star Wars has waned dramatically over the past few years. @@rowan_like_the_tree Yeah pretty much that he's young and naive, wants to play the part of the generic perfect hero and whines when he isn’t able to. It isn't until the climax of ESB that he realizes that his past (and future!) are a lot darker and more complicated than just him being a "knight in shining armor." Just as an aside, though, the issue with Boba isn't that he isn't complex enough. Complexity is not what determines a character's quality. The issue is that he's portrayed as a pushover who's perfectly selfless and kind and yet doesn't have enough of an arc to transition from his ruthless old self to his heroic current self.
@deltakaiju78652 жыл бұрын
@@rowan_like_the_tree In A New Hope, when we first meet Luke, he frequently complains about his circumstances in life. He comes off as ungrateful for the things that he has. This includes his home, his guardians, etc. After meeting with Obi-Wan, he repeatedly refuses his call to action. The rest of the film depicts Luke has a hero because it follows the standard hero's journey, but this is just the start of his character arc. In Empire, Luke is depicted as someone who is overconfident and easily gives in to their emotions. When in the cave with the Wampa, he cuts off the Wampa's arm, hinting to the audience that he has the potential to turn to the dark side. When he meets with Yoda, he comes across as being incredibly impatient. Regardless of his overconfidence, he does not believe in his abilities, and he states that pulling his X-Wing out of the swamp is "impossible." After finding out that his friends may be in danger, he absolutely refuses to listen to Yoda's advice, and is disrespectful toward his mentor. He clearly does not understand the value of the training given to him at this time. Because of this, he completely puts a halt to his training because he believes he can save his friends no matter what. His overconfidence is one of his biggest flaws, as it makes him believe he can fight Vader alone without anyone's help. The Empire is also able to succeed in setting a trap for Luke because they knew that his emotional attachments to his friends would cause him to come out of hiding. In RotJ, Luke has had time to reflect on his flaws. However, when he goes to confront the Emperor, he begins to give in to the temptation of the dark side, and is almost talked into killing his father. This shows that regardless of his recent training, Luke still lacks discipline, and the training he received was not enough. At this point in time, Luke is not strong enough to take on the Emperor by himself. Luke can only defeat the Emperor with the help of his father. So, in short, Luke is overconfident, lacks strength, and is prone to giving in to his emotions. Regardless of these flaws, however, he is still able to succeed, which is what makes him such a compelling character.

The worst part is that the premise of Boba trying to "rule tatooine" is actually not bad on the surface. Boba could have become a threatening crime lord similarly to what Maul was with Crimson Dawn. But no, instead we get a half-baked Boba redemption arc where he gets his butt kicked every 2.5 seconds and doesn't even properly fight until the VERY LAST EPISODE OF THE SERIES. I'm not against redemption arcs or cases of the antivillain becoming the hero. In fact, disagree with this video in that it says "Boba needs to stay jaded," and I'm not a fan of stories where morality is tossed aside as being "childlike." That's not to say Boba NEEDED a redemption arc--the story could still have been a great one if he remained a morally questionable character--but i don't think that a lack if one is neccessary, either. Again, I'm not against redemption arcs. I AM, however against poorly structured and unsatisfying redemption arcs that take away from the character. Oh yeah, and then there's Grogu's return. What the actual heck!? It completely undermines what made the finale of Mando s2 great. You can tell Disney did it just for the cash.

I totally agree: he's not the same as in Mando. His sudden major character switch comes out of nowhere, and feels like it was developed off screen (ahehemem Luke Skywalker ahemehemem) which you should NEVER do. I was excited for Boba to have his own show, but after watching Book of Boba Fett, I realized that with antagonist-like characters, they are better off as side personalities in a larger story. The term "leave while you are still having fun" comes to mind: give the audience glimpses or badass moments of a certain character, but don't show their entire story. Mystery is powerful. Mando uses this, less so now, but when they wrote him with a mystery cloak (or mystery box depending on who you ask) he was incredibly cool and engaging. I like that you pointed out the Loki similarities, it reminded me of the when they gave the Winter Soldier a show of his own. Remember how cool and mysterious he was in The Winter Soldier? That was so long ago. Everyone loves a good charming and mysterious antagonist, but in reality nobody (save maybe superfans) wants to know absolutely everything about them. This give-the-antagonist-their-own-show formula will likely keep happening in a world of franchises and continuations. I just hope they keep characters like Davy Jones isolated to two movies, I'd wouldn't like to see a detailed backstory of him and Calypso as cool as it may be.

@@jonbragg5175 I understand where you’re coming from, but that didn’t save the show for me. Like it or not, they completely re-tooled boba’s character because Disney can’t have a main character that’s a ruthless, Angel Eyes type bounty hunter. The Boba Fett we know and love is a myth, a legend and a nightmare in the flesh for anyone he’s after. He appears when he’s called upon and doesn’t stop until the bounty is claimed, no matter the cost or consequences. He hunts Jedi for sport and turns every head in a room just by showing up. He isn’t characterized or developed too much because he doesn’t need to be(he managed to be a fan favorite despite only having three lines in the original trilogy). Then there’s this guy, who needed mando to step in for the middle third of his own season because his story isn’t interesting enough on its own to keep everyone watching.
@CaptainKotetsu2 жыл бұрын
@@jonbragg5175 Boba’s new “good guy” persona also comes off as very ignorant. He wants to rule with respect on a planet where literally nobody is honorable or true to their word. And then I’m supposed to be surprised when literally all of the gangs betray him at the end because the pikes have more money? Any intelligent person would’ve seen that coming a light year away. Better yet, maybe just leave Tattooine and start fresh somewhere else. Why would boba want to stay on such a crappy planet if his tusken tribe is dead and everyone else is a scumbag? Doesn’t make much sense to me since the guy supposedly had a “come to Jesus” moment. And even if his character wasn’t changed, we can’t make a show about a Mandolorian who hunts for bounties because that’s already been done(mando). Anyway, these are just my opinions. That Boba rewrite was great!!! One small inconsistency though: There is a part in your story where Ahsoka recognizes the temple as a sith temple rather than a jedi temple based on the brutal protections planted around the weapon. My problem with this is that to my knowledge, both sith and jedi temples are sites deeply tied to their respective side of the force and as such, would radiate strong light or dark side energies to force sensitive visitors (Please correct me if I am wrong about this). I think because of this, Ashoka would have sensed from the start that the temple she visited with Boba was a sith temple, which means you would have to replace that section with another idea that still produces suspense. For reference, I believe Yoda visits the sith temple of darth bane during the clone wars series. Perhaps looking at how that was portrayed would lend some context as to how interactions of jedi and sith temples play out. On the whole however, I believe your rewrite presents wonderful new ideas while also rectifying the problems with Boba Fett's character. I love it!

@@ShadeSlayer1911 I do appreciate the dialogue that my comment sparked. I see your point concerning how Ahsoka' 'greyed' force connection between the light and dark sides could hinder her ability to sense the dark energy around the sith temple. However, I still am skeptical of her not sensing the dark energy. To my knowledge, jedi are not only limited to sensing light side energies or vice versa with sith. If that were true, we would not possess the myriad remarks of jedi unsettled by certain dark side energies. Off the top of my head, I can remember Yoda describing a clouding of jedi visions and foresight due to dark side energies (Revenge of the Sith). Another example would be a disturbed Cal Kestis (Jedi Fallen Order) that felt an increasing darkness whilst entering the Imperial Dig Site (where a dark side inquisitor awaits). My point is that regardless of Ahsoka's unique force connection between the light and dark, it may not necessarily limit her ability to sense light and dark energies that are different from her own.

The moment where ahsoka has the vision of rex and then even vader is incredibly sad in my opinion. And i like it all the more for that reason! I think it would make the scene even a little notch better if vader glitched into anakin from second to second. The evil Vader taunting ahsoka continuously mercilessly but in a split second changing to the face of anakin whom we expect to be compassionate but in his eyes there’s a fuming rage and he screams at her just like he did to her before padme‘s death. When Boba finally arrives she doesn’t see boba, but in fact Rex. And it isn’t the evil sith anakin standing there but the good, kindhearted anakin. And Rex reaches out for her hands and in that moment the music blasts the iconic force theme. I absolutely love your pitch on this story. Therey he's presented with a choice: Take one of the possibly most wanted criminals of the empire, one who will likely get him a huge reward, or take his bounty. He takes his bounty and doesn't consider even wasting a fraction of his arsenal on Cal unless he becomes an obstacle to Boba's bounty, which he isn't, so Boba just leaves him alone

A very fine plot idea for Boba. Genuinely awesome work. I would only change two things: 1. Ashoka should win the initial battle between them. It is upon seeing his face (after it either falls off or she removes it) that she falters, seeing the face of so many of her long dead friends right in front of her, giving Boba the chance to incapacitate her. This alteration allows for your plot to continue as it was but maintains lore accuracy by having the most seasoned Jedi in the galaxy (and, specifically, an experienced Mandalorian killer) not lose outright to an aging Boba. 2. The point of change for Boba should be initiated through the realization that Boba and Ashoka worked for the same master - Vader- and through that thread how both of them share varying amounts of disdain towards the Jedi Order. This draws out the topic of Boba’s hate for the Jedi who killed his father, but through conversation and self-reflection he realizes that it wasn’t the Jedi who killed his father, but his father’s own greed (as it was Vader’s greed that led him down his path), and by extension, his bounty hunting profession. This causes Boba to completely reacamine his past, why he’s alone, why he’ll always be alone, and why no matter how much money he makes through violence, he’ll never regain the companionship his father once gave him. In the final moment of change, Boba decides that if he is ever to not be alone, he must stop being a bounty hunter and use his talents to protect people, not hurt them. 3. A small note that’s not necessarily a change but an addition: in Ashoka’s hallucination of Vader, he should really harp on the fact that he was the only person who ever loved her, and he was the only person Ashoka ever loved (until Sabine) - arguing that Ashoka’s abandonment of him is what led him to turn to the dark path. While these are massive stretches of the truth at best, these are the internal conflicts that Ahsoka toils with, believing if she could have stayed by his side, she could have stopped him from going down the path of the Sith. This false notion should have been the struggle that set the stage for Ashoka’s own show, the fear that abandoning Sabine would lead her down a dark path as it did to her master, and her own projections of that fear onto her former padawan being the impetus that pushes Sabine even further from her.

I've been reflecting on this show and I find myself asking the same question after TLJ; "How was this green lit?" Now I don't think TBOBF was sequel bad, it was just very sloppy. It felt like someone threw together a first draft and went straight to filming without patching up the holes. I think this show would benefited more from being more thematic and character driven by focusing more on Boba's trauma regarding his father. It's the perfect anchor point to make the audience sympathise with him and how it derailed his life into becoming this cold blooded killer for hire. The sarlacc can symbolise the weight of it holding him down. Having a touching scene where he speaks to his father (de-aged Temuera Morrison) during the psychedelic dream and he convinces him to let go of his pain. Turning it into the Mandalorian S2.5 was a bad move. It robbed him of valuable screen time that was desperately needed in this short 7 episode series. You can tell some Disney exec told them to shoehorn it in. Plus it did damage to S2 by undoing the whole arc. I mean I expected Grogu to return at some point cause he's an obvious cash cow but geez not this early. As groundbreaking as the Luke deepfake was it really should of been saved for Mando S3. I feel it's going to suffer a great deal from these decisions. You could say there was this elaborate plan forged between Bib Fortuna and some captains to kill Boba and and his Tuskens for attacking they're train. They hire Cad Bane to carry out the hit but Boba isn't there of course. He finds out about Bib's involvement, retrieves his armor and kills him taking the throne in the process. Boba builds his new crime family up with likeminded individuals and draws out the conspirators by setting a trap. It's revealed he recruited the other Tusken tribes when he was in the dune sea and they win the day through a brutal ambush. The final act would be a standoff with Cad Bane. After his employers are killed he decides to take on Boba himself one last time. It would benefit from previous material to really establish tension instead of just that unfinished TCW arc. (Real shame about that) Bane is the living embodiment of Boba's past and his final test. He'd tell him that he killed the Tuskens then they fight. After a heated duel Boba would win killing Bane and offically closing the book on his old life. Boba is now the central crime lord on Tatooine controlling Mos Espa with his crime family and the dune sea through the Tuskens. He rules fairly but ruthlessly to those who challenge him. This arc for Boba's character could not only be his redemption but also reiterate the theme of family that's so prominent in Star Wars.

Boba was actually calm and collected in the Original Trilogy so I don't think his depiction in the series is that far off from what he should be. In Clone Wars he was hell-bent on killing Mace Windu but I think he got over it and leaned more into carrying on his father's legacy and became more like him - calm and collected, but also ruthless. I also don't mind that he's good now. I think he knew they wouldn't have to shoot The Child, but threatning that was a smart move if he wanted to demand something of someone in full beskar. What I'm saying is he was (roughly) the same in The Mandalorian. A couple things were different. The worst thing about BoBF's writing is he's impossibly incompetent. And not just him - people trying to kill him too. The second worst thing is that it's just the most boring side quest ever. For half the show he recruits two piggies, like 4 kids and 1 furry. That's a very weak team, and that Wookie was shown to be dumb as hell as he could've easily killed Boba. And third? That's just cringe moments like the bike chase. In fact, I don't think mods fit on Tatooine at all.

This is a very good story, but I would change it up a little bit. When Boba arrives at the jungle planet, he lands at a safe, hidden spot, perhaps in a cave and sets up a camp up There. From that moment, everyday he goes on to look for the jedi. It takes months as the planet is so hard to travel, he has to always go by foot. Then, after a Day of looking for ahsoka, he return to his camp, makes himself dinner, and takes out a BOOK from Slave 1, and he notes down his foundings and intriguing things about the planet. He does this every Day for a few weeks. He primarily does this because, as you said, he has poor social skills and this is his only way of keeping himself feel less alone. As he closes the Book, we can see a marking on the bottom of it, which says J. Fett, and the J is scratched, as a way of telling us that he wants to forget about what he saw on geonosis, he wants to distance himself from the nemory of his fathers death. He then eventually finds the empty graves and fights ahsoka, but she manages to escape. He then has a vision of what his father told Him, that he can be a good person, the opposite of jango. The story then continues as in the video, but over a longer span of time. So his character doesnt completely change in a week, which i hate in shows/movies. But otherwise, great job. This could've been way better

One thing I can say about this even as it is currently presented...he doesn't have to be "good" by the end. And that could mean there will be the potential for some sort of conflict as there is nuance in being willing to do good things and also do very dark things. He might soften, but the wrong person would still get disintegrated.

If only Loki had been written like that one episode of House M.D. where House goes to a mental hospital. Where he doesn't actually try and get better until the final act. Where he, until the final act he _thought_ he was doing just fine.

You forgot to include the “like a Bantha” scene in your rewrite.

I honestly think that Boba could easily be an interesting character, when you incorporate what we learned in the Clone Wars about him. In that show, he was bent on revenge, but he clearly had misgivings about the way it had to be done. When it came to it, he was willing to sabotage a ship full of clone troopers and cadets, but he wasn't happy about it. But at the same time, he didn't like being compared to the other clones. He distinctly said he wasn't a soldier "like them". We see Boba surrounded by ruthless bounty hunters as his role models after his father's death. These obviously formed the crux of his character; he gravitated to them and away from the clones. This is further supported in the Mandalorian where he gets testy when Bo Katan calls him out as a clone. He identifies as being a bounty hunter, he doesn't want to be identified as a clone. But at the same time, the clones all share his father's face and he has problems killing them. This is a character who is not content with who he is and is going to latch on to the one thing that makes him unique; his relationship with his father. We'll also acknowledge the ruthlessness which probably came from years of work with those cold hearted bounty hunters. But again, he held onto his identity as Jango's son. With this in mind, I think the single biggest bone head move of the series is how they handled when Boba got out of the Sarlaac Pit. The scene lasts 30 seconds or so and he's unconscious through most of it, and he doesn't really talk about it, so emotionally this moment doesn't mean that much to him, from the way it's presented. But let's consider how much Boba wants to identify with his father. That was his father's armor, the single biggest moment in his life, the thing that set him on his path. He's tailored his identity around that armor. Never mind how he has been shown to value honor in the Clone Wars, so I can buy that defeat would be shameful for this character. Surviving that horrifying Sarlaac Pit, only to have the armor stolen by Jawas before he is dead should be the worst moment of his life next to his father. It's practically losing his father a second time. So the scene should reflect how terrible of a moment that would have been for this man. It should last at least a few minutes. Boba should be fighting the Jawas and unable to stop them; he should be crawling after their tracks trying to get it back despite how bad his condition is, he should be crying for his father to forgive him or cursing the universe for doing this to him, maybe a sandstorm where he hallucinates that his father is being killed again. And then to add insult to injury, he's taken by the Tuskens, beaten, and forced to dig for water, until he's been through so much that at the end where the Tusken gives him the water, as a sign of respect, he's just grateful for it. If that scene had played as I described, where it is shown to be an emotionally damaging moment, it would have provided the necessary status quo of who Boba was before the Tuskens took him, and thus I could buy that this character has gone through a change and why being with the Tuskens changed him. He had lost what was most important to him, and after everything that happened he could find comfort in simple things, like a drink of water and a bit of respect. Given how the rest of the show played out, I don't think that it would have saved it, but it seemed like a basic scene that was left out and would have fixed a lot of the problems of Boba's character

everything you say is consistent, it's a shame that filoni and favrou are not interested in the character or know how to handle it because in the prequels and clone wars they sold you to someone who admired their father's profession and his honor but at the same time he became cold and lonely because of so many betrayals that has happened but out of nowhere in the series it shows a clumsy good-natured characterless dependent on everyone and who always loses every fight, I don't understand how there are people who believe that he had evolved if he didn't manage to do anything relevant or interesting in its plot until the end apart was heavily overshadowed.

I love the critique, However I feel the alternative ignores the whole of history seen in Clone wars basing to much on the clone relationship even though ashoka and boba have a lot of history to base on. I would rather go the Boba vs. Cat Bane route.

Disney needs more writers like Henry. He just thinks of this stuff out if the blue and it’s somehow 10x better than the actual show.
