You should research J. Peterman, because his style was vintage traveling clothing. You would definitely like his designs. It was a "catalog only" company before the internet came about. Also, Elaine worked for J. Peterman in the 90's sitcom "Seinfeld"

Gold Waterlily Agreed! Lots of people gasp when I say that I have clothes in my closet that I’ve owned (and worn) for over twenty years. But whenever a slightly out of the ordinary occasion pops up - say, Halloween, a wedding with a formal dress code, a stage performance where we wear all grey, or all black and white, or all blue, etc - they’re all “I have nothing to wear!!” whereas I just pull something from my closet... I can barely think of an occasion I couldn’t dress for from my closet. There’s an upside to my maximalist ways! 😃

@@billiev8705 Hehe, braces go on your teeth here too and the elasticated frilly thing, that brides tend to have, that goes around the top of your leg is a garter belt here. It's almost like they're completely different languages. Thing is with the evolution is that it's evolved differently in both countries so in a way it's bound to get further and further apart. Then in the UK we also have regional variations in vocab. However, with so much American media now more widely viewed in the UK it means that a lot of the younger generations are adopting US vocabulary.

I'm in the UK and we never find such great clothes in our charity shops (equivalent of thrift shops, I think). Occasionally there are vintage fairs but they are a little overpriced. I'm 51 and grew up in the 80s. It's funny to see fashions come round again -I've never been fashionable. Forward thinking vintageistas (a word?), why not make some present day clothes and put them away for future vintage. I once found some fabric in a shop in the "retro" section and thought to myself "that's not retro, I made myself a frock out of that once", then I remembered that was over 35 years ago😨. Love your channel x

I love the first outfit on you! It reminds me of Bomb Girls, though it looks more expensive and clean-lined than any of their more masculine looks. It just reminded me of them. I definitely think it works for you. You have a particular energy that doesn't move/is salient in your presentation and I think the way we fit in our skin is largely what we're talking about when we discuss whether an outfit or aesthetic works. It works if you work with it/feel at home in it. Also, I don't think having a lot of clothes is naughty at all 😘 Do what brings you joy. It's not like you're going to throw them out when you're done! Oh- silk ties I collect them and wear them, as a loose tie or school girl tie, and also as a belt. I can't find any silk scarves at thrift stores where I live. The items are so cheap, but timeless, so wearing it only once or twice a year is still ok, as you can keep it for years, so you do get the wear out of them. Then they can go to another home, unlike modern fast fashion, which start to fall apart after one wearing.

i've used the laundress before, specifically their delicate wash one (I still want to try out their wool one!) and I was so happy with it!! I was recommended it by a roommate who always handwashed her silk blouses with it, although it took me a little while to buy it, since it seems like a steep price tag for a small bottle of laundry soap. I haven't used it against any major stains or anything, but I feel that it refreshes what I'm washing, leaving a nice light, clean smell (I use the "lady" scent, whatever that means), but is delicate on items I'm worried about (such as my edwardian/late-1910s style delicate linen and lace blouses).

So envious of your second hand shops! I live in a town full of trendy students so everything good is gone immediately. That marbled yellow top is stunning.

Thank you Heather! I stopped into the Beyond Retro when I visited Brighton back in my study abroad days, and while I did find a dress-- it was probably 30 pounds I think? So not a true bargain like thrifting is here!

Hi Anna-Marie here. I love everything you purchased this time. especially the coat dress. you have a wonderful way of pairing everything together. that turtleneck acorn top can be worn anywhere and for the money you paid just wear it as a fun piece. Have fun!

Omg! The batik, I could not pass that up. Ooh, that red pleated skirt is a gorgeous shade. You are making me want beetle brooches.

Thank you Jenna! Jeweled beetles are the best kind ;)

So many great finds! I like that you have your own unique style. And always nice to see someone who treasures shoulder pads! 🙌

Thank you! I really do, the wider the shoulder the smaller the waist looks, that's good magic!

Love your haul videos! I'm a maximalist too! I justify it by it being secondhand too😉 Love all your styling and how you've been mixing it lately! I have quite a few brooches that I hardly ever wear but am so inspired by your use of them! Just adds a little something to the look.

I worked in a knit shop that sold very expensive wool yarn and they always recommended Eucalan if you need something for a wool item. It works really well.

Slight thrifting envy. I'm 5 feet tall and narrow shoulders... I'm living vicariously through a few of those finds!

Hi Bianca The yellow eye shadow with the leopard print is a great look. (I would've never thought of that.) Love the haul. FABULOUS pieces! You have great style, and you always make your finds look like high style vintage gold. (You're getting better and better at it infact). The "Beatnik in November" look was a pleasant surprise. You styled that strangely weird tee girl!! I want one now.

Thank you Darnelle! I have challenged myself to make a few more outfits with that fall tee, so those will be coming soon :)
