I love the “glam noir cabinet of curiosities for the maximalist 40s Hollywood starlet” aesthetic you have going in this room. There’s something comforting about being surrounded by all of your favorite things in one room. Moths: I’d think they’d see your collection of preserved moths and butterflies on display and decide messing with your suits just isn’t worth the risk.

Impressive organization for a small space. I highly recommend keeping the shades drawn to prevent sun bleaching of any of those precious handbags. love a bedroom/wardrobe tour! My fiancee is Finnish and she has never had a single thing eaten by clothes moths. Apparently they're not much of a thing in Finland - not sure why, maybe the -20 c cold just destroys them so thoroughly that they can't keep perpetuating their life cycle. Anyway, I'm so jealous. I've had so many things damaged - from mend-able to utterly destroyed - by moths. I do my best but there's really only so much you can do short of either coating all your clothing in extremely noxious chemicals, having literally one jumper, or storing all your woolens in a chest freezer which is what I intend to do in the future. Either that or just live in Finland, mythical land of no moths (apparently.)

My mother and husband call my jewelry my “Dragon Hoard” I currently have them stored in hanging containers in the shape of aa little black dress, with clear pockets on one side and hook and loop to hang my necklaces on the other. All my other accessories are in decorative boxes in my closet. I love the dark Dutch florals. I was going to get wallpaper like that for my Master Bath, that I am calling “decayed mansion” style. I painted my own bathroom vanity an almost black purple, and then hand painted moths and berry vines all over it. Above it is an ornate black mirror, a black crystal chandelier and on the vanity I have crystal accessories I painted black line bugs on, then baked to make permanent. I found off a set of white pottery trash can, soap dish, liquid soap dispenser that have old master black line floral illustrations decorating them. I think we have eerily similar taste in decor Bianca. How fun!! I loved your tour!!!

My bedroom looks like the battle ground after a war between Laundry and Library and there were no survivors. A high shelf houses my collection of wine goblets that I can't drink out of (gifts like a hand painted one that can't get wet and a gag goblet that holds an entire bottle of wine, friends are weird). Bedding is colourful, mismatched, and rumpled. Cat hair covers everything. A giant framed Monet waterlily print leans drunkenly behind the door. Pure chaos, my sanctuary lol.

I use those IKea Billy bookcases to store my shoes and handbags, I have 4 of those 2meters tall and 40cm wide and if you buy some extra shelfs you can fit 24 pairs of shoes in one Billy bookcase 😊

I relate so much to some of the vibes of living in your childhood home as an adult- it’s certainly… a time, and despite how much time I spend in my room, it’s still largely dictated by the previous occupants and the owners of the house- my parents and family. Decor remains from when it was my mom’s room, and from previously when it was my sister’s, in addition to things from my college days, relics of my childhood, and the few recent purchases and finds from the present. It’s sort of a mélange of different people’s objects, but I still have sone things to it that are my own! And of course, I relate to the amount of space devoted to clothes/accessories, and the things still packed away for years since the last time I had my own space. My closet was recently outfitted with a second rod hanging below half of the first, for more blouse storage, which it desperately needed 😅 That’s even with my winter clothes in storage 😭 And don’t even get me started on how much costume jewelry I accumulated the last few years of high school into college. I went a bit crazy with statement necklaces and all sorts of different styles for a while there before I settled on the more calm and classic jewelry I wear now 😅 All of those things take up space on my vanity 😂 I think the things that most make this room feel like my own are the habits and daily routines though. I know what it feels like to sit in my bed, place my dice on my side table, and open my laptop to play DnD. I know the pathways I travel from underwear drawer to closet to vanity each morning when I get dressed. And so on. Those routines, locked geographically in this space, make me feel like it’s my own! I’m curious if you feel similarly?

Really love the style and all the little personal touches! I’m in the process of giving my own apartment a forest-gothic-art deco makeover, so I take a lot of inspiration from you for decor! One thing you may want to keep an eye out for on Craigslist or other second-hand places is an armoir or chifferobe, which is basically a closet on one side and drawers on the other, and many of the ones from the 1920s, 30s, and 40s were cedar-lined and would be fantastic for storing your vintage suits. They’re really beautiful, often with “Waterfall” style woodwork that is gorgeous, and since today people are often trying to get rid of them from older family members, they can be found for (fairly) cheap. I’ve seen them posted at as low as $50-75. The more expensive ones might be listed for $100-250, but cheaper ones can definitely be had.

I love how you decorated the space and still shows your personality. I love the posters and the brooches, I have one of my grandmothers that is a big silver snowflake that I would love to wear one day. I can see you having a spare bedroom turned into a closet in your own home.... This is what I would imagine of how I will decorate my very own house one day. I do have an idea if and when you want to up date your dresser; I would paint it an emerald green (or any green you love) with black hardware on the front. Now if you want to add another step or two to it; could use a stencil (maybe one of bats or moth/butterfly) on the outside with black paint and in the drawers find a peel-and-stick wallpaper to put on the inside. Thank you for the updated tour of your room!! :)

I've tried a couple of times to bring your attention to a gorgeous Danish company called Memery, who make the most beautiful vintage-style shoes. They are expensive, but they can be mended and resoled, so you get much more wear out of them. Also in one of your videos you mention the impossibility of finding silk petticoats. Patra, a British company, make knitted silk petticoats (they call them 'slips') in long and just above the knee, in black, cream, and white; and also a half-petticoat in black and cream. Again, not particularly cheap, but well worth a look. You have been such a help to me in sorting out both my style and my wardrobe: thank you.

Thank you SO much for introducing me to the term "hair receiver"! I've been using an old kleenex box that doesn't exactly add to the vibe of my vanity. So excited to start my hunt for a good Art Nouveau option!

That was lots of fun! Makes a person want to dress up. Ah... But where to go? Wonderful collections. Ralph Lauren has like 23 cars and likely that many houses! And the wealth in Dubai, Hong Komg, London etc. Enjoy your finds....🌍🌎🌍Princess B. Not everyone can rock a beaded spider broach the way you can!🎆🎭🌏🎇🍒very best, Joanne
