This is a one in a million "classy" fafafine who is intelligent & who is her own person etc. Love her views on the topic of malus & life. What a beautiful soul & love how she is respectful of her Samoan traditions & family. Obviously, she is quite endearing to all that is blessed to have her in their lives. More power to you, Asia... Be blessed always & in ALL ways! :B-)

I respect her stance on the cultural part of being a Samoan. She knows the value of the malu within the culture and it's not some fantasy that you can put on AND take off whenever you feel like it. The malu has a significant meaning for the women and the Fafas understand their role within that construct.

I admire your courage to by yourself and agree that culture needs to be preserved. But in the same breath, it must also evolve and grow with the times. The Fafafine should create their own tattoo for future generations.

So what I'm hearing is that fa'afafine are only allowed to dress like a woman and have the superficial manners of a woman, but they are not allowed to embrace all that they possibly can about being a woman. I accept Asia as being a woman wholly and completely because that is how she identifies herself. It is only natural for a woman to want to fall in love with someone and be loved in return. Just because she is a fa'afafine, she should not deny herself of love. Heterosexuals are not asked to deny themselves of love, so why should she? Also, I don't see why it would be a disgrace to the culture if a woman wants a malu. If Samoan people accept Asia as a woman, they should also accept if she decides to get a malu. There is nothing disgraceful about fa'afafine getting a malu, and it shows the world that they fully believe in and accept their femininity. By getting a malu, fa'afafine are declaring to the world that they are real women.
@salapuyoamouf1313 Жыл бұрын
Because at the end of the day they still are not real biological woman…clearly Asia knows that and implies that a few times as I’m sure most faafafine know they aren’t real women. Why should we call something it’s not.. Faafafine are in a league of their own and are respected as such..that is what sets Samoan faafafine apart from the rest of the world.. cause they know they are not real woman and respect that they are not… well.. the ones with brains.. faafafine ( in the manner of a woman/ like a woman.. but NOT a woman) As for love.. I think her parents were only protecting Asia from the possibilities of domestic abuses and complications especially with Samoan men… that’s just an observation knowing our parents… Respect Asia so much for her strength and personality..she’s a lovely soul and wish her all the best!!
