Greetings Guys and Gals - Well I got to say this show is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!!! Thank you Greg and Melissa for being gracious in sharing with us some truly unbelievable coins. I'll bet Ben is in seventh heaven for you both in allowing him to handle some coins of your remarkable collection. A truly enjoyable hour and a half - sans some of Ben's jokes in an attempt to be funny!!!! We would love you to come to the Tucson show in January and perhaps bring some of your amazing collection to see in person. But sincerely, a truly great video and conversation you bestowed upon us in there are some cool stories relating to these coins. My favorite coin? - It's hard to do as so many coins have their own unique qualities. But the 1802/1 $5 gold piece would probably get my vote. Thanks again and Best Wises to you all to have a great show and stay safe.

Excellent showing from Tidy House to Blanchard. Old school coin grading. I like the Bust Half Dollar series.

That remarkably toned 78 Morgan MS66 @34:30 reminds me of a drake mallard's iridescent head and wing speculum reflecting sunlight in the late afternoon as it swims around a pond. New term: "drake mallard toning".

This was a really good stream. Good on ya, Ben, for answering many of our questions in real time. That blue, blue, blue Morgan was awesome.

In 1868 and 1869 the Philly mint coined 16 denominations . I had a full set of the 1868 which i sold last year, the $10 was AU55 with few higher. Great to meet you Ben, hope your drive home was safe and uneventful.

I went 1-for-7 on the MS67 Washingtons I sent in to CAC. Definitely tough to get a supurb gem stickered.

Crazy how they no its a proof at a F-15 . But that's a great looking group of coins . Nice live stream .

Looking at the numbers, CAC is a ripoff. If the sticker is meant to mean that its better than average for that grade, you should be able to send every coin in a grade and get roughly half of them stickered. If you are discerning and sending only the ones you think will get a sticker and you average 28%, it means you are actually so bad at grading coins that you would be better off doing the opposite and only sending coins you think are bad for their grade, or they are full of crap about their process. I don't know how they make their money, exactly, so I have no idea what % they would target, but it's pretty obvious they are manipulating the numbers and it's not a fair process at all. If you send them coins to evaluate, the results are going to have nothing to do with merit, and will be whatever is best for them, financially,

Q for Greg (on the .25 cent Seated Liberty MS 64)...He said he was thinking of cracking and resubmitting for a 65. Why would you crack it? (By doing so, you're risking a downgrade). By keeping in the holder, you can't get a downgrade; only an upgrade?

Thumb's up. Q: What does the "pvc" sticker mean on that silver coin? Who put it on? You'd made it sound like CAC attached it; if true, is that why they did not Green-Stiicker it? Thank you.
@TheCoinGeek Жыл бұрын
PVC is a residue left on the coin, usually from contact with old plastic holders. They did not sticker it because of the pvc.

Awesome stream, unfortunately I am in the auto industry and based on what I have seen in the past 3 months we are heading for a 2007/8 again , everything was great but the rate hike by the idiots in charge is destroying our countries economy

Back to my 1820 and 1834 capped dimes . The 34 has different size 4s but are the same price. Then I saw the 1820 had large 0 and small 0 varieties , but after doing more research , i have a statesofamerica variety , where there are no spaces between the words states of america . Then i saw the values were 3x $$$ the large 0 $and small 0 $ varieties . Apparently they used the 1814 die on the reverse side !! Then looked up a capped dime website and it said that F30 on up were very rare and especially au50 . Still my coins fit the F35/40 grades . The 1820 was $1750 in F40 but sold in auctions for $2,400 to $3,500 . My best coins for sure in my collection . The crazy thing is they were won in our neighborhood high school/college poker games where we sometimes had 2 tables . I accepted them when the game was near the end and the people who were winning raised the stakes . I won both dimes in around 1980 . Back then the values were like $30 to $50 each coin . A great story and memory for me . I hope you enjoyed it ? Im sure you have great coin stories too ?????

Resubmit coins until you get the grade you want.. I like the strategy 😅
@EricBynog-zd4rd Жыл бұрын
Remember when you hear people say you grade your coins higher than they are well here you go from AU55 to MS62 so a 7 point jump thought gold cac was like 2 points not 7 wow talk about over grading
