I feel like Mayhem Devil could be as easy alternate, or even replacement, for goblin bombardment, as it reads, "Whenever a player sacrifices a permanent, Mayhem Devil deals 1 damage to any target." Along the same line as DotV. This way you can just move through your engine and Mayhem Devil does the work for you, without the need to waste your artifact creatures!

I think you could replace the Liquidmetal Coating with a Halo Fountain. In this case, you'd use Dross Scorpion to untap the Halo Fountain and use the treasures you net to pay for the cost. Can also use the Halo Fountain alongside the Clock of Omens+Liquidmetal as an alternate wincon!

Also clock of omens and silverskin armor works with Jan. It makes Jan into an artifact while its equipped. Sac an artifact to make the two treasures, tap them to clock of omens, untap him, sac a treasure to make the constructs, tap them, untap Jan. Pair it with Throne of the God Pharaoh to make use of the massive amount of tapped tokens to practically instant kill your opponents unless they have a response. Have Fun!!

Oh man, I love dross scorpion. Same with the liquidmetals. I do something similar with goblin welder.turn him Into an artifact and keep switching what's in the grave for what's on the field.

it should be noted during the explanation of the combo, once you turn Jan into an artifact with your liquidmetal you can then sacrifice it to start Jan's loop. so the "extra treasure" isn't even necessary

I recommend Reckless Fireweaver, its cheaper than goblin bombardment and you get to keep more artifacts. But Im also bias... its a pet card of mine.

It's a great card for the deck but the goblin bombardment is giving a sac outlet so we can untap our commander but having multiple of the same effect is never bad

I dont think you need an artifact sac out let to go infinite with the skorpion, since the comander already is sacrificing artifacts with it's abillity

You do need a sac outlet. Let’s say you have a 0/1 ornithopter out, have liqumetal coating on Jan, have a sacrifice outlet like Ashnod’s Altar, and have Dross scorpion out as well. You tap Jan to sacrifice the Ornithopter. This creates two treasure tokens, and Dross scorpion triggers on the death of Ornithopter since it is an artifact creature to untap Jan. Now you tap Jan again to sacrifice one of your treasure tokens to create two 1/1 construct creations. This triggers nothing with the cards we have so Jan remains tapped. Now we use Ashnod’s altar to kill our first construct, giving us 2 mana but any sacrifice outlet can be used here such as altar of dementia to mill out our opponents or as he showcased goblin bombardment to ping anything. This sacrifice outlet does trigger Dross Scorpion allowing us to untap Jan again and now we are at the start of the loop again where we have an untapped Jan and our sacrifice target of an artifact creature. Without a sacrifice outlet, clock of omens, or any other additional tap mechanic, Jan can only ever be tapped twice in a turn with the dross combo.

I'm trying to build this deck now and I have pulled out so many cards now that works good with him. The problem I have is that he can pull in so many directions that I want everything in the deck haha. I need to choose a focus and go with that as main goal. Then sprinkle in a little extra.

Unless your goal is to ping them to death, Goblin Bombardment isn't even needed. You just need Jan, Dross and any non-creature artifact to start a loop to make as many constructs as you'd like. Then, just pass and hope for no board wipes until your turn again. So, it can work with just two cards and any non-creature artifact. Also, as Nitenerd Dont pointed out, Mayhem Devil would be better than Goblin Bombardment here as it'll ping for any artifact hitting the graveyard :)

You could also just add Revel in Riches to give your opponents one last turn to kill you, otherwise you win on treasures. That's one very cocky move to hide behind a wall of constructs and wait for your turn

Isn’t the commander itself the sacrifice outlet because it sacks an artifact to either make treasure or servos so without another outlet you have infinite mana and infinite servos you just need a way to capitalize

Without the free sac outlet however it doesn't work with Dross Scorpion if you make him an artifact creature or Thornbite Staff. You'd tap him and sac a Treasure for the 2 Construct tokens... and then he'd be tapped and you'd need a way for one of those creature tokens to hit the grave to untap him via those two methods (hence the free sac outlet like Goblin Bombardment to fill that gap). If you have Clock of Omens however you don't need anything else due to him producing 2 untapped tokens every time he taps and sacs something.

@@ethanhughes3515 No, because to make the Construct tokens (Scorpion looks for creatures) you have to tap him and sac a noncreature artifact. I repeat: NON-CREATURE. When you make the construct tokens you will tap him and you cannot sac an artifact creature for this, so you do not get the Scorpion's trigger, leaving Jan tapped and unable to use his abilities further. Therefore you need an alternate sac outlet to sacrifice an artifact creature to untap him.

Blue is an amazing artifact color where black doesn't care as much you gain in caring about creatures that you are making and taking away plus the power to pick up the deck and grab what ever you need instead of drawing off the top and hoping just for little price of your life

I read something about puppeteer clique tokens triggering persist not working with Araumi because tokens never enter the graveyard and that's part of the persist trigger. Can someone smarter than me explain how this would trigger dross scorpion if the saced token shouldn't enter the graveyard?

So tokens that are in other zones cease to exist but only when State Based Action is check. So a token can move to the graveyard but as soon as it’s checked it stop existing. By changing zones from on the battlefield to the graveyard with still trigger thing that look for when a creature does that or “dies” for another term. If you want to get technical; 111.7. A token that’s in a zone other than the battlefield ceases to exist. This is a state-based action; see rule 704. (Note that if a token changes zones, applicable triggered abilities will trigger before the token ceases to exist.) As for a token that has persist. That looks to see if the creature had a -1/-1 counter? No. Did this creature go to the graveyard? Yes. Does it still exist in the graveyard (is it an actual card of a creature)? Yes. Then return it to owners control with a -1/-1 counter. If it isn’t a card then not do nothing. Edit: changed post and added things for clarity.

@@EvertfromNederland you’re 100% right they don’t return but what I was saying was they do trigger “when a creature dies” because the do GO to the graveyard. So if there is a token that has persist the first part will trigger but since they no longer exist the can’t fulfill the last part about coming back into play with a -1/-1 counter. So when viewed in the context of the video Requiem Angel would still trigger because the creature is not a spirit token that the commander initially makes and that creature would die when sacrificed. Also provided you DON’T sac a spirit.
