You can still play the cards exiled with your commander even if the commander is not on board. You just need to attack with a token.

The effect is attached to the card that's been exiled in this way, not Neyali, so yes you can cast those particular exiled cards anytime a token attacks :)@@Cpt.Croissant

I think Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin is also a good include in the deck, just through the sheer number of tokens in a couple of turns

Yep I second that, I'm a begineer player and I play Rebellion Rising to which I added Krenko Tin street kingpin and in a recent game I played I managed to ramp up to 24 1/1 goblins in a few turns. Combined with the double strike of Neyali, I managed to kill two of the four players I was playing with.

I have played this exact upgraded precon a few times now and it works very very well. One sneaky add I did do is the new Mondrak, Glory Dominus card from ONE - it doubles token creation and is very hard to get rid off.

One card they didn’t mention is goldnight commander 3 and W, 2/2, “whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, creatures you control get +1/+1 until end of turn” Combined with something that summons 5 or 6 tokens, you can have your 15 tokens get +5/+5 immediately, theoretically at instant speed. Along with the double strike, that’s practically +10 immediately. Pretty crazy.

Loxodon Warhammer is a great include for the deck. You said yourself how the creature tokens are small. The warhammer makes any one of them a threat and +3 power is brilliant with double strike. You can easily gain 10 life a swing with it too. What this deck needs is anthems and other ways to utilise the double strike to be more lethal. A playing tip I'd say is avoid playing the commander. Save it for when you need to deal high damage. You don't want it to die without you doing a big swing. You have enough token generators it doesn't matter if your board is wiped, you can always rebuild. Drawing out the board wipes without playing your commander is ideal. The threat of it being played is enough.

You only briefly mentioned anointed procession. While it’s outside the budget, it’s definitely an honorable mention. Also, the new Phyrexian god that is anointed procession on a creature is another honorable mention, though likely outside the price range as well.

I thought neyali had a delayed trigger for the exile. I don't think it's impulse, just as long as you attack with a token you can play it.

Yup, I think you are right and they are misunderstanding. Robber of the Rich has a similar wording and I checked on Gatherer that you can continue to meet the condition to cast the cards Robber exiles (ie attacking with a Rogue) even if that specific Robber that exiled the card no longer is on the battlefield. I assume Neyali is the same way - if you have 6 cards exiled and Neyali dies, you can still cast the cards as long as you attack with a token. Really good!

Can we just take a moment to acknowlege how amazing Angles of Tyr are in this deck? On each attack they can deal up to 24 damage to your opponents, likely give you 2 treasures, 2 cards and 6 life. All because of the double strike. Also if you include Jaxis the Troublemaker, Kiki-Jiki, Feldon etc. they work amazingly with them since the token will also have myriad.

Otharri is such a neat commander opposite the other precon. If they try to proliferate the poison counters on you they will also proliferate your experience counter. Decisions, decisions…

Jeska's will seems like an absolute must include. One of the few ways in these colors to make big mana to sink into your X spells, and with the impulse draw sub-theme and the fact that this deck doesn't have very many draw spells, seems pretty good. Also with the reprint it's a little bit more on the budget side these days.

Should look into adding Rise of the Hobgoblins - Double Boros Hybrid Enchantment. Effect of card: When Rise of the Hobgoblins enters the battlefield, you may pay {X}. If you do, create X 1/1 red and white Goblin Soldier creature tokens. {R/W}: Red creatures and white creatures you control gain first strike until end of turn.

I think a cool stratagy with this commander is to use your impulse draw as a hand protected against discard. You can possibly use disruptive wheel or while table discard effects that won't impact you as much. Not good colors to fully use this stratagy, but fun to think about.

Generally effects like that will specify if they work in other zones. Otherwise I believe it only works on the battlefield.

My friend got this deck, and we went the for myrodin route. And I'm hunting for living weapon cards for it. He's definitely going to the equipment route for his build. There is a lot of equipments that make a token then attach. Plus the swords cards for the double strike

I was thinking about this the other day, and i believe its best not to boardwipe hold prio flawless maneuver, but to instead flawless outright, and then boardwipe (in the case where you have a developed board) because if something is getting countered with you holding priority? It will be your maneuver a decent amount of the time

Now I will admit combat calligrapher is the better choice since it does more and the have flying another super valid addition in the same vein is Rite of the Raging Storm. A 5/1 trampler with double strike is crazy scary and it cant actually affect you, and bonus other players can choose to beat each other in the face.

Is mace of the valiant that bad? In this deck if you are constantly making tokens, wouldn't you constantly be putting charge counters on it? Like every token then becomes a counter which can then be put on a doublestriking creature, so every counter would give you twice the normal damage? It's still a dead draw late but seems like a great value piece in the mid and early.

I'm a complete beginner, so go easy on me. These are the 8 cards I included BEFORE watching this and I'm happy to see Elturel Survivors and Divine Visitation among the cards that you listed. It makes me believe in myself again. These are the other six cards: Hero of Bladehold, Impact Tremors, Secure the Wastes, Rabble Rousing, Breath of Fury, and I'm also happy to see Entreat the Angels among the honorable mentions. If anyone would let me know any of my choices are actually bad choices I would be glad.

Why acolyte of fire instead of flamecaller? Flamecaller creates 2 3/1s instead of 1/1s, and she can also give you card advantage by letting you discard your hand and draw one plus that amount. She's also cheaper.

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned from playing mtg it’s that you should never get too attached to any one card or strategy. If something doesn’t work or fit with what you’re going for then cut it without mercy and replace it with something better. If you don’t then you will likely fall behind or fail.
