I have seen a Philippine Eagle fight another Philippine Eagle during the time we hiked Mt. Apo. I got to say, compared to regular bird fights where they just show and spread their wings and attack with their talons (such as chicken, geese, and others). The fight I saw was somehow much evolved. It was more of like a dog fight (planes) with hit and run tactics. The smaller eagle used such tactics to ward of the significantly larger eagle. It was a rare occasion and it might be an outlier behavior. But who knows, maybe that would be a deciding factor should the Philippine Eagle face off a larger raptor.

Thats quiet plausible because the ground would be just jungle and uneven land would be hard to fight on land, the fight would be similar to diving falcons, they try to hit each other from the back mid flight, or just face each other front to front

For me, I think the Harpy eagle just looks straight up scary and something you don't wanna get near of but the Philippine eagle looks lowkey deadly. Something that doesnt want to hurt but if it wants to, it can kill you in an instant.

Philippine eagle is very dangerous bird, that's why in the Philippines Eagle foundation only those handler specialise to interact with adult eagle are allowed to handle and feed it, this is because not only those powerful talons it posses a large strong sharp pointed beak and strong muscle jaw, this large beak is used for subduing and capturing animals larger than it's size. That's why some handler sometimes got seriously injured in feeding this eagles.

Looking at both birds, if I'd compare them to WW2 fighter Aircraft, the Harpy is a P47 Thunderbolt. More of a brawler that can punch through the jungle canopy with ease. The Philippine Eagle is more like a P51 Mustang. Graceful and Highly Maneuverable. Able to snatch elusive prey with ease.

Philippine Eagle: It does eat monkeys (Philippine long-tailed macaque)! Before the name was changed in the 80s, it was called as The Monkey-eating eagle. Both the name and scientific name means a monkey eater.

Philippine eagle is way more agile than a Harpy, so in a battle--although highly unlikel to meet as these two massive birds live in two different ecosystems---I truly believe that the Philippine Eagle has a better chance of winning. The biggest threat to the Philippine eagle is hunger among the impoverished locals living in the surrounding areas of the eagles' habitat. Poverty is endemic in most remote areas of the country and conservation rules are ineffective as long as the standard of living among the natives is not factored into the equation. They'd rather eat the bird now or sell it in the black market than let it breed.

When i was young i saw one on our province (samar) during that time i think ph eagle is a bit bigger than what they are now or maybe because i was small back then. It was 20+ years ago when i saw a small dog suddenly fly i run away coz im too scared. My grandma told me i was lucky coz the eagle chooses the dog and not me as a food. I was like 4 or 5years that time. And i can say that they may be a lot bigger in size before so maybe they become smaller due to lack of food?

Living in the province. It was common to see HARIBON eagle flying over our houses and looking for food. You will know its a HARIBON when its flying in circle around an area looking for food. It used to just snatch a baby chicken or anything it can eat. There was this one time when HARIBON landed on a tree branch and just stared at me, it was scary. After 7 years, I haven't seen them come back nor show up. I don't know what happened, but I think they're going extinct.

You know fowl game "c0ck fighting" the one that can fly higher will always have the advantage on the first fatal hit in an encounter against the heavier and slower, it will always be a fatal claw grabbing on the soft neck. You know birds fighting in mid-air will point their claws to each other while scrambling and elevating, and the one that can't fly higher will get his head and neck exposed.

harpy eagle and philippine eagle are one of the coolest eagles that i saw too.i didn't mean i saw eagles in real but the way i watch them on the internet,they are really Majestic and Good looking birds too...the only different from the two eagles which i stated while back is their looks.the harpy eagle's beaks is just looks like an ordinary beaks while the Philippine eagle's Beaks looks like predators, i think it belongs to an apex predators and i think they are more handsome than the Harpy eagles but they are really amazing👍👍👍👍👍
