The Dingos aren't the danger, tourists are the danger.

One of the most beautiful dogs on the planet. They explained the reason that feeding them is bad, they get used to it and won't hunt like normal. They go looking for the easy feed and when it doesn't happen they may try to steal food. Which leads to aggressive behaviour. Yes it is like feeding a Bear, a pack of dingoes would easily be equal to a bear.

If there's a local feeding dingoes (wongaris), it's more likely that the wongari will bite the hand that isn't feeding it, making it more dangerous for other locals and tourists. They're not aggressive, they're opportunistic; there's no domestication instinct of looking up to humans or thinking of them as a pack leader. They have more the instincts of a fox than a wolf: if it sees a wallaby-sized animal (eg a toddler) and it's catchable, it'll give it a shot.

I think you were trying to say, 'Why don't we domesticate them by feeding them?' Because like tigers, they'll always be wild and can't be trusted to be tame, no matter how much they accept food from humans. They're like coyotes - sly and opportunistic - and not to be trusted.
@Merrid67play

You forget it took 10 or 20 thousand years to domesticate wolves into dogs. Wongari don't have that species memory: they're not afraid of us, and they're not going to learn that in a hurry. It's suspected they were brought to Australia around 5000 years ago via SE Asia and that's not long enough to domesticate them.

If these dingos were starving, a thoughtless tourist giving them one meal is not going to save them. The tourist might feel good about it but they are only pro-longing the agony. If they genuinely are starving, better to let them starve an die as quickly as possible than make them live another agonising day. It sounds heartless but it's actually the most humane act apart from euthanising them. The animals on K'gari (Fraser Island) are the last known enclave of purebred dingos left. Leave them alone!

I wonder how old this story is because Fraser Island has gone back to its Aboriginal name K'gari and there's been a couple of incidents recently not mentioned including a young woman who was jogging on the beach and was set on and chased into the water by four Dingoes who bit her giving her between 30 and 40 bite wounds luckily 2 men driving by managed to chase them off, I've always known that running near wild animals is a bad thing to do. And another video a Dingo walks up to some sunbathers and nips one woman's bum. Unfortunately, the Dingoes are to be euthanased if identified 😢 I was sad and angry that eight animals had been destroyed because that ridiculous woman tried to make them like her as pets 😪😫🤬

Dingoes aren't dogs and don't have dog behaviours. You aren't safe around them if you don't understand them and don't know which human behaviours can trigger them. I've had Dingoes and love them but never ever relax around them. Mine loved the beach and surfing and ate fish. Prawns and oysters were favourites. It angers me that people who would be terrified of wolves treat Dingoes like sweet puppy dogs. They are pack animals with the same wild instincts. If people can't behave around them then THEY should be banned.

Hey Phezz. We had a Dingo X Red heeler X Bulldog. He had the kindest nature I've seen in a dog. Except when the pack leader (my ex) wasn't home. Then he'd bark at people walking past the house 😂 We we're told he will attack on command, but not otherwise, as he was 3 when we rescued him from a bullet from up country way. Best dog I've ever had.

We had a rescue dog years ago. He was 5 months old and terribly skinny. I could see a bit of German Shepherd in him, but asked the vet what else. I was told a bit of dingoe. I had to cook him 3 meals a day for ages, gradually introducing meat into the diet. He put on nearly 10 kg in a couple of months, and could still see all his ribs. I found out he was about 80% great Dane. Was HUGE! He was extremely protective of myself and our kids. My hubs, he loved, to a point, so long as he never raised his voice near me. Then he went into protection mode. Never did anything other than growl though.) ( I'm pretty sure he was abused by a man/Men, so was distrustful of them, generally. ) He was a sweetheart though, except if I went out for more than a couple of hours, then he would pull my clothes of the line. Only mine, mind you.

@sunisbest1234 sounds like a wonderful dog. You are right if someone is cruel or abusive in first six months of life it seems to be imprinted for life but because you rescued him they never forget that either I've got a rescue cat and he never leaves me alone he's sitting by me on the lounge now, he's very weary of strangers but at the RSPCA he came straight to me even though there were 3 other people with me.

@@jonsant7232 I'm quite convinced a lot of animals chose who they want to be with. After much research into this breeder, I decided to get a Beaglier. ( years after the dane/dingo mix.) There were 6 in the litter. I had wanted a female, but this one pup crawled over to me and into my lap. Thought about it for a night, but couldn't get him out of my mind. Went next day, same thing. Only one who did this. 15 years later, he is still with us. Almost completely deaf, but the nose sure still works very well. Still does "zoomies" every now and then. 💗 And to add, his favourite treat of all time. Carrots! ( he is a little bit vegan. 🤣)

@sunisbest1234 they can see the tattoo on my four head that says sucker or soft touch easy life my cat before this one just turned up one day in a terrible state horribly skinny, face and body all scared from fighting. We took him to the vets to be fixed up and she desexed him for free I kept him, and fed him up we knew he was chipped and found out where he had come from so after a couple of weeks reluctantly took him home. His home was disgusting like you see on TV just foul! sadly they wanted him back 😔 😫 so after a very long sleepless night I got up and there he was sitting on the back doorstep, somehow he walked 2 km back and wanted his breakfast 😅 He was a massive white and black cat who loved his food and the sun I had him for more than 10 years before skin cancer got him 😭 people for weeks after who walk past were asking where's your giant cat? 🙂😊 sorry for the long story 🐈🐈

Yea, if you're beach fishing, almost 100% if your there longer than 1 hour, you will have 1 to 3 dingoes checking you out on the chance of some food. I've seen the island, the wildlife besides the dingoes is gone, they literally have starved themselves out and now it's just a matter of time before the hunger drives them to attack more and more. It's sad, but other than shutting down the island from tourists, the dingoes will be all gone in a decade

I made this comment on an earlier video! It's not the ugly animals you have to watch out for it's the cute cuddly one's! You wont pat ugly crocs, snakes or spiders but you will try patting a roo, wombat or a koala all will damage you if you anger them! Magpies are also a beautiful looking bird and guess what they do...attack you by swooping at your head! Moral of the story is don't mess with our wildlife and they won't mess with you except magpies they're c**ts!

The more contact with people the more likely theyll bite. Once they come accustomed to eating from people the less theyll hunt their normal prey, then if we refuse to hand over food theyll bite. Or theyll scavenge in our bins and bags, we shoo them away, theyll attack. As for them being by the ocean, this is an island off QLD, it has maybe 200 dingoes. But dingoes are mainly on Australia in the outback aswell. Especially the top half of the country. Alice Springs where Uluru( centre of Aust) is there is a big colony of them.

They lose their natural fear of humans & that makes them so much more dangerous. Children then will be easy targets for a hungry Dingo Especially as kids tend to run when they are scared which just excites them even more as they are basically sight hunters. If they then bite someone , Even those that are feeding them then the rangers have to put them down.

Dingoes bodies are made differently. They always look skinny, their hip points are always showing and sometimes their ribs aswell. They dont have a bottomline of their ribcage, the underneath shape is always straight, not rounded like a normal dog. Also a wider bite. So yes they do look skinny but they arent malnourished. Yes, never think of them as normal dogs and pets. They are wild and will never be tamed.

Dogs, in this case when the dingo bit the girl on tv, is Testing the waters so to speak. Seeing what it can get away with in interaction, will this bring food. If i act like this, will i get food?? Testing the girl's reaction to it nipping her. If she got up and ran, or went lower than what she was positioned as, it would be on, meaning attack mode. Trying to be dominant over her. But nothing was really done to stop the dingo in this clip, so the dingo was allowed to be dominant, hence itll try it again on someone else. This is the reason why the 8 were put down.

they walk the beach looking for animals that have washed up, they can dig up and eat pipi's. dingo's aren't a problem if you don't feed them all you have to do is watch small children (as you should) and teach your kids not to yell and scream and don't run. i've seen dingo's all over australia, they smell food they come sniffing around, if they don't find anything they move on.

A fundamental reason to not feed the dingos who live in the wild (where they have resources to feed on), is that by feeding them they will cease teaching their own puppies on how to hunt for food and survive in the wild.

That's the issue though.... Fraser island is stripped of other land animal's and food sources, and they are literally starving themselves out. A pack of dingoes are no different to a pack of hyenas, coyotes, foxes etc. They are not domesticated. Cross breeding with domestic dogs and bringing the pups up with human contact does not make them safe. It’s just hard to think this because they look similar to a domestic dog. Make no mistake a 1/4 dingo in the mix is no different to 1/4 wolf temperament wise. They do not see humans as dominant. They will just play along being domesticated as a survival trait in that environment but only to a point. I had a dog that was about 1/8th dingo and although it was fine around the family to a point I would never trust it around children or family members when alone or strangers.

After the recent attacks, I'd like to see less tourism (I really don't want any tourism at all). The dingo is a beautiful animal. It may look like a dog (that is its downfall), but it most certainly is NOT. It is a wild animal! People have fed them! You can't police it. The recent attacks have seen one of the dingos involved PUT DOWN just a day or so ago! That is a horrible thing. Tourism should be stopped! NOW!

PHEZZ I know youre just following a certain line of logic but thats just a big NO. Would you think thst with a wolf or a coyote? Tourists and visitors need to understand that Australian wildlufe can be as dangerous as wildlife anywhere else. I guess because theyre unique and furry and appealing tourists assume theyre harmless and everyone wants to come out and cuddle a koala or kangaroo or wombat. Not so. As harmless as elk or bears or wolves or coyotes or cougars or bison etc. and (most) people have the sense to leave them alone. So PSA - heres a tourist tip. DONT try to pat or feed any wildlife you see in the wild. That probably wont end well. Go to a wildlife or conservation park and see them under supervision of the keepers or rangers. And under no circumstances try to pat or feed a dingo. The line "A dingo got my baby" was a real event.
