Love this gun! I hit every thing in the 10 ring. Its my every day carry gun. Alien holsters are the perfect fit for the side arm. 7+1 always cocked safety on. Everyone who shoots mine wants to buy it. The kick really isn’t that bad for a 3”. 👍👍

The Sig P365 is a superior EDC in comparison with round count and reliability. My lady bought an ultra 2 and it's been nothing but problems. As for a fun range day gun with loads of character I do like kimber. Would never trust my life with one. And your right with the beaver tail snagging your side. I just picked up a 2001 Pro Carry Series 1, as I heard the Kimber 1911's were alot better quality. So I'm stoked about that, especially for $450

I had one of these and the Kimber Stainless ll; I sold both buying my my Kimber Pro Raptor ll in 45acp. It’s beauty and reliability, fit & finish,serrations on grips/slide, night sights, & it’s dragon scale grips was it’s selling point for me. This 1911 fits in my hands like it was made for me. I use Wilson Combat 47D mags with “NO” reliability issues after break in! Kimber is also still made in America all were features I was looking for with my $2k cap!#1911❤#Kimber🇺🇸#45acp#ProRaptorll

I have an Ultra Carry II in all stainless, first thing I did was drop an anodized aluminum main spring housing with the chain-link cut from Ed Brown. It is absolutely flawless, as well as beautiful. Everytime I’m at the range I got other 1911 guys begging me to trade them a magazine full of shots out of their rig, so they can test mine. Not going to lie, I always seem to prefer my gun! She is just an absolute tac driver.

My Kimber CDP II is an Ultra+ (note the PLUS), meaning it’s this same gun, including the 3 inch barrel, but with a full size 1911 grip. Apparently this is somewhat rare judging from the scarcity of videos on it. The extra grip length will admittedly print more if worn in certain ways, but I find the controllability is greater since all fingers have a home with room to spare. The Kimber website now lists a Pro CDP with this full grip but it has a 4 inch barrel, and my 3 inch Ultra+ is no longer listed.

I am not a 1911 fan for several reasons. I think cocked and locked is inherently unsafe but a Safe Fire System is available and makes the gun safer and faster. No racking the slide, no easing the hammer down on a live rd. With an SFS system you can carry a rd in the chamber and the hammer down. When you push the thumb safety the gun cocks itself and is ready to fire. I am considering a Kimber .45 with a more or less full grip and 3" barrel with the addition of a BH Spring Solutions SFS kit. I put one on my Springfield SA 35 hi power and it is fantastic. The gun is safer yet immediately ready when the safety is switched off.

Great vid but I'll disagree on one point you made. I carry this firearm and there's no reason not to carry it cocked with the manual safety off. Its the same as carrying a gun that has no manual safety. That's what the grip safety is for. Thanks for the vid.
@ctclimberguy342 жыл бұрын
Most of those do have a safety blade on the trigger... So it's not exactly the same
@Alutacon2 жыл бұрын
@@ctclimberguy34 Interesting, I've never seen one with a trigger safety.
@jackmarks21762 жыл бұрын
Those plastic guns don't have a 2.5 to 4 lbs. trigger pull. As you draw a 1911 your thumb just falls right on top of the safety.
@leeadams59413 жыл бұрын
Carried that pistol for many years, never dissatisfied with its performance..when hunting carry the Springfield 6 inch and shoot the .450. Changed out the grips, which are beautiful with pachmyre type of grips for comfort and control. Consider carrying crossdraw for ease of deploying in your auto. Have to disagree with you on having the motor skills to cock your weapon on deployment...I learned that skill with single-action Colts and just brought it forward in all revolvers and some autos. But the 1911 should be carried cocked and locked that's what it was designed for.

If you are serious about self/family protection and being a force multiplier then this Kimber Ultra is a NO BRAINER, Pay the price, train all the time, buy more ammo, get a good holster, carry ALL the TIME. Don't moan and groan. If your gonna do something by all means do it right. You will not find a better firearm, if 8 rounds is not enough keep training. The ONLY time I switch to a polymer 9mm is when the Kimber is just too much to conceal, and that is not very often.

Carrying a 1911 Condition 1, Cocked & Locked, without some kind of cover over the manual safety is extremely dangerous. Ya need a holster that covers the manual safety, especially is it’s an ambidextrous model. Just my opinion.
