If this wasn’t a reboot and a standalone game, along with mechanic fixes, a better plot, and better characters it could’ve had the same result as other hack n slash games.

@TheCoolJayMan What I meant is if NinjaTheory hadn't been constrained by DmC IP and made their own Hack'n'Slash without whole DmC fan base to judge them, reception would have been less "hysterical". We could have even gotten a sequel with issues ironed out.

I agree with all the video said. Throughout the years for me, i started to like the reboot. But of course I like the original and classic more but even after saying that. I like to see a DmC2 but also a DMC6 lol. Now speaking about the music, i like how you said "If it's to your tastes." I'm paraphrasing and all. Cause i only find some songs ok in DmC. As a fan of many music genres, I'm not a metalhead or a hip hop kind of guy. I like lots of music, even orchestral ones. Which makes me think I was once a classical music enjoyer in a past life or something. Anyway, i think i like 2 or 3 songs in DmC. In DMC1 though i got stuck on the first mission cause there's already a freaking puzzle lol. It really is born from the development of RE4, DMC that is if i remember right. DMC2 though is a blur or some sorts. I remember beating the "Zombie Tank" and this huge ass head boss and then i didn't finish it. It was boring and the enemies are meh and i was only a kid back then. I was a kid when i played DMC1, 2 and 3. Though i first started with 3, 1, 2 and then 4. Now going back to 2, i don't remember the music there so i can't comment. As for 4, its ok. Never Surrender is a song there if i remember right and its ok. Now for DMC3, thanks to a family friend all those years ago, was my introduction to the series and we only have a PS1 during the early to mid 2000s and in 2005 i finally got a PS2 and bought DMC3 in a heartbeat. The music for me is the best and the GOAT. I see people saying that DmC OST is the GOAT and yeah that's ok and subjective but for me it's DMC3. Lol DMC5 even though I'm still in the early parts of the game, i only like (so far) "Bury The Light" which is memed left and right lol. But yeah in terms of OST, itll be 1. DMC3 2. DmC (cause i like 2 or 3 songs also this one is recent too with my sister playing the Definitive Edition) 3. The rest of the games lol. Anyway fun and decent video!

One thing that you didn't experience like OG DMC fan like us was the vanilla 1.00 PS3 and Xbox 360 version released before the more well-optimized PC version....TONS of gamebreaking bugs including softlock your Vergil fight at the end randomly even though you DT. color saturation that hurted your eyes and my GOD the 30FPS+Style meter WILL NOT GO DOWN when you stop comboing even after the battle area. Not to mention the PC+PS3+360 style had problem that if you needed to have SSS rank all you needed to do is Demon Dodge+Trinity Smash unless the Angel enemies came to the picture. OG DMC fan hated this shit so much because they thought this would effectively replace OG DMC since Capcom at the time under Keiji Inafune have a HARD boner for Western game, particularly the COD money. We thought this shit could effectively kill the franchise. Capcom was so uncertain that they had to pitch people with DmC Definitive vs DMC4 Special Edition at the same year. Looks who won......?

I've seen so many people say gameplay wise DmC feels good but I could never get into maybe I need to play through it some more but the combat just felt tedious I hate how switching weapons involved holding a button and I felt like you could get away with spamming more then you could in other DMCs
@TheCoolJayMan9 ай бұрын
i can see the argument but the axe is SOOO satisfying to use, the angel weapons are defiantly more spammy tho, nowhere near as satisfying as devil ones.
@nachro21909 ай бұрын
@TheCoolJayMan, that's actually appropriate, demonic weapons feeling more satisfying, whereas angelic weapons feel powerful, graceful, but not as imposing. I like the contrast, fast = angelic, slow and heavy = demonic
@garciasth2179 ай бұрын
Dude try to play DMC2 that game has a real Tideous DMC gameplay of all time because of lack of variety weapon while DMC devil may cry has 5 variety weapon that doesn't even feels tedious at all

The devs also came off as smug and down played many concerns the fans have had with the game, like a 30 fps cap, lack of lock on, DT making enemies float and other game stuff(oh look the fixed that in definitive edition which should have been released version) and made it seem like fans were just upset at the lack of Dante's "white hair". Half of my round trips, shots, drives, and arbiter projectiles would soft lock onto the wrong enemy. I think the spawn boss fight benefits from the hooks as if you times the follow up to angel hook(payoff I think, the punch up move) you can stun the boss and knock it down. I wish limbo created more hazards throughout the game(like in the first level with the saws, level here the floor is weak glass, night club level and reboot's bloody palace). GDC 2013 the art director/concept artist had the original Dante side by by with the Broke back mountain cowboys and how the reboot Dante took influence from Brad Pitt's tyler durden. The 2015 or 2017 GDC was more respectful/interesting. OG fans definitely weren't happy afterwards.
@benfoote99454 ай бұрын
I actually liked all of this game. Dante is immature and apathetic, but it makes sense considering his past. He isn't a perfect one-dimensional character like in other games. Also, I liked that the demons were all gross. They're more like personifications of corruption. They appear harmless to humans, but their true selves are disgusting and shocking by comparison.

this game's basic weapons mechanics have been given to nero in dmc 5
@Shilobotomized3 ай бұрын
L2 & R2 don't change Nero's weapon, and basic combos have been a part of every character's moveset from the beginning, so I'm not exactly sure what this means. Could you elaborate?

When i played the definitive version (after playing the mainline series), didn't mind the combat(though I felt lock on was pretty half-assed imo like it was an after though HEY WHAT DO YOU KN-), also didn't mind the story though i knew it was going to be kind of bland and such. I went on to play Vergil's downfall, didn't mind the combat (fuck the imprisoner tho) but i absolutely HATED the story as it just felt like vergil was just whining that kat and Dante didn't join him on his ending conquest even feeling like he was being a narcissist at points (granted i think that is supposed to be his character but still), all of it just struck me with distain especially with the ending being the way it was

This video is as underrated as remake. The main problem of the game is that fans expected something that looks and feels like classic, but they got an update from an old gameplay and looks. Its like if you were having one dream over and over every time you go to sleep, but then suddenly its something different. Yes, the second dream is also good but its just not what you wanted.
