This could be the end of Sony's Spider-Man universe of Marvel Characters, or the SPUMC. After Madame Webb flopped at the box office and now Kraven the hunters release date has been changed, things aren't look good for Venom 3 and the Spider-Man universe that Sony has made with Venom, Madame Webb, Morbius and Kraven soon. Sony is at risk of losing their Spider-Man universe as fans are fed up with their latest Spiderman films and want the rights to Spider-Man and Spider-man characters to go back to Marvel Studios but will that ever happen? We breakdown if Sony could let Marvel Studios use the Spider-Man characters they own in the MCU and if the Sony Spider-verse is about to end.

I've never seen an audience benefit of having Marvel comics characters split into their own isolated little universes. The big stories from the comics have overlap between heroes, and even the best Spider-Man movie by far had Dr. Strange. Sony doesn't seem to comprehend the characters, their interconnectivity, the relationships between them etc one bit, so they keep making flop after flop. Admittedly as you said, Venom has made some profit, but as a fan of the character - I've been very disappointed at this version being entirely unrelated to Spider-Man since that is a core part of the origin. All the early years of Venom vs Spider-Man, etc carried the mutual hatred of Peter Parker and Spider-Man as a main bond between the symbiote and Eddie Brock. Gutting a character like that, and filling in who and what they are with less-meaningful dribble as Sony did really gutted Venom as a character.

At this point, Sony only has 3 options. 1, drop the villain-centric movie idea and focus on Miles Morales as the SSU’s Spider-Man. 2, give Disney and Marvel Studios free reign with the Spider-Man characters and let them do whatever they want with them in the MCU. 3, they sell the rights back to Disney and Marvel Studios and get a shit ton of cash out of it. They could also just give us what we want and make Spider-Man 4 (Tobey) and TASM 3, but given their track record and thought process on making these movies, I don’t even trust them to make those movies without screwing it up.

I read somewhere that if Sony keeps making these bad movies that Marvel/Disney could possibly get the rights back. It would be a long shot, but Marvel could sue Sony for basically hurting the brand and possibly getting the rights back that way.

Sony needs to let go and let Marvel have Spider-man. Marvel has shown that when they make a Spider-man movie it can be epic. Just look at No Way Home. What, it did 1.9 billion world wide. That's makes it the third highest grossing film of all time. Marvel may have had a small slump as of late, but their movies were not complete flops. Morbius, Madame Web, for Sony, these were just bad and were confirmed flops. Sam Rami's movies were good and so were the Amazing Spider-man movies But now it seems that Sony has lost the Spider-man Mojo. Honestly I want Spider-man in the MCU.

I'm so amazed and also afraid that some people at sony thought that madame Web would be a good starting point for a new franchise , I mean from the cast to the character , to the script/story and trailer ,I mean everything about that movie screamed EPIC FAILURE . I mean those people should be fired at least ,how many thousand or even million of dollars , they cost to the company and the movie is so bad , it abort an entire series of movies.

Sony should just give Spiderman rights to Disney. I really hope Spiderman rights back under their roof. If Sony buying Paramount. They can get money from Star Trek Transformers and anything else. I still love watching Sony movies like Ghostbusters and other Sony movies. But they need to give Spiderman rights to Disney. I want to see MCU make Dark Avengers and have Norman Osborn as the leader. Jessica Drew Spiderwoman is a S.H.E.I.L.D. Agent. There is so many stories MCU can tell with Spiderman rights.

The sad thing is I really wanted to give the SSMU a chance. I liked Venom 1 and 2. Then Morbius comes out, it bombs, and Sony thinks it's a good idea to rerelease it because of the memes. And then, guess what? It flops even harder! Big surprise. I haven't even watched Madame Web either but it already seems to be the death blow for a cinematic universe that was hardly a success to begin with. I don't have much faith that Kraven the Hunter will do any better than Morbius or Madame Web. Sony should just quit and give the rights back to Marvel or just let them use some of those characters in Spider-Man 4. Sony already failed once at launching a Spider-Man Villain Universe with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but they keep trying and failing at it. It looks like they still haven't learned their lesson.

After seeing how Sony handled madame web, I have no interest in sony's marvel movies. The venom movies have been ok so far, but I don't think I will be watching any of the other movies anymore until it's streaming somewhere on a service I already have so I don't have to pay for it

Great comment. I've said for a while Sony should do a miles spiderman solo in his own universe separate from Holland or any version of peter . And then have Tobey spider man 4 and tasm 3 all separate and then have crossovers with those characters. Via the spiderverse/multi verse easy
