External beauty is usually considered as something that diminishes with age due to external beauty standards set by society. Beauty comes in many different forms and ages, even though society has indoctrinated people to believe the only/highest form of external beauty comes in the form of white, youth and slender. With that said, they way people look is never a reason to admire or wish to be close to them. It’s the inner qualities to look for in each other. /Scandinavian

THERE MAY BE AN EXTRA AD IN THIS VIDEO. I never put ads in the middle of my videos, however I decided that I would make a one-time exception in order to raise extra funds for wildfire relief efforts in my county. My valley is currently burning - I filmed this video before things got as serious and I will share an update soon. I hope you can understand that it is a one-time decision and I will take the advert down once I have made a donation ❤️ THANK YOU! A lot of wildfires in my part of the world this month. Many homes lost, unbreathable air, power outages, and an enormous fire burning through my valley. Seems there will be no respite for a couple months unfortunately, until rain comes. This is not meant to perpetuate fear, only update you on my situation. This is not abnormal for this area. It is important to stay positive and focus on caring for each other at this time ❤️ We are all safe and our town is facing the destruction together and supporting those who have lost their homes. It’s a long road ahead, and this disaster will affect my channel in several ways: 1. When I first heard about of the fires I worked ahead and made some videos, knowing the blue skies might disappear. Soon I’m hoping to get some respite from the smoke by visiting family on the coast. 2. I do not want this channel to be focused on the wildfires, these videos are my haven to retreat from stressors like this (especially since we will probably have fires until fall, and I do not want to dwell on it more than needed). However, I will make a single video on this topic soon updating you on the situation, hoping by then to know whether or not my home is safe and no evacuation will be needed. 3. HOW YOU CAN HELP: If you feel inclined to help with any relief efforts I will be donating half of the proceeds from this weeks video to support our natural areas and firefighters, so simply by watching it you will be able to help. 4. At this time it is unknown, but I may have to evacuate on very short notice. That means there may be an unexpected halt in my video postings with no updates, as power outages and smoke may not allow me a stable enough wifi connection for uploading. 5. For more information and ways to help, here are some relevant links: Support relief efforts for our wild lands: methowconservancy.org Fire Updates: methowvalleynews.com/2021/07/20/breaking-cedar-creek-cub-creek-fires-force-level-3-evacuations/ (I recommend Dr. Dray on KZbin for advice for skin conditions! She busts skincare myths and helped me drastically improve my acne) Products I use for my oily, sensitive, irritation and acne prone skin (eczema friendly skin care. I also use Differin for my acne. Please research how to use each item): Cerave Healing Ointment amzn.to/3iCxdQf Cerave Calming Cleanser amzn.to/3BCtV8H Gentle Moisturizer amzn.to/3iDiFQm Shampoo for dandruff prone thick curly hair (clarifying, this helps me keep my scalp clean with very thick hair, the nozzle helps apply directly to the scalp and not dry out hair. It has salicylic acid in it that helps exfoliate the scalp. I only wash my hair once a week so it really helps as a stronger clean.) amzn.to/3kHRUwV My soap recipe is simple, I buy local melt and pour goats milk soap in bulk, and add extras of honey, herbs, oatmeal and fragrance. Very simple and cheap! Making soap from scratch is far too a complex operation for me, this alternative is quite fun and budget friendly.

Hello Paola, like you I've spent many years worrying about my image, looks, shape etc but realize that we are all different, have different looks and shapes and that's why we're all unique. I spent my teens worrying about my pimples, but they vanished and I was always ready to wear make-up to make me feel better. As I grew up (literally) I realized that our looks are what makes us who we are and there is no-one any better than any one else. We must love ourselves first and appreciate our differences. A good diet is the best remedy for health, body image and looks. Blessings to you.

Funny how we perceive ourselves.💚 You've always reminded me of one of those literary heroines from Jane Austen's time, with their classic beauty (the kind that transcends the "fashions" of the times). Their beauty was so skillfully written about as a beauty (both internal AND external) that they were never fully aware of-like an Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice. Thank goodness female written literature of such quality survived to our times as, let's face it, it takes a female to properly write about the irony of naturally beautiful women who are not fully aware of that beauty. Take care, Paola.

You said things so perfectly. You didn’t like the state of your skin, but you were not willing to give it the time and patience. It really is that simple. What we put on our skin and body and in it, make a huge difference. You do not always need a doctor and pills, the skin is an amazing organ. Your on the right path. In our society we show false images and we also don’t value an aging and wise face. We need to change that story and realize we are all beautiful and unique and we don’t need to do invasive things to change that and in fact look like everyone else. Your videos are beautiful and so are you and you exude love and peace and that is a very beautiful thing and a beautiful gift. Blessings 🍑🙌🏻🧡Lisa

So beautiful. You are wise to come to these conclusions at such a relatively young age. As a woman in her fifties, I encourage you to continue doing your body a great favor by not being in the sun all the time. However make sure you do get some “pure sun” time with no sunscreen so you can fully absorb the rays as we are photo dependent on the sun for a healthy life. Some direct sun is good but all in moderation of course! Just like those who go “earthing” and take off their shoes to connect to the earth through contact with their feet, connecting with sun, wind, rain, and even the snow is good for our bodies. What a journey we are all on! Take care and be safe in your beautiful valley.

What would you say to this friend, I’m sure its nothing alike what you might feel about yourself. You’re growing a little miracle right there and I’m convinced you look absolutely amazing in the eyes of everyone who knows you. Maybe you need a little break, a quiet day out in nature or a spa day where you really feel and look inside - what do you actually think about yourself and how much of it is shame about how others might see you? I know to me, my mother is always the most beautiful. Loose skin, stretchmarks and all. None of it matters when she smiles. 'And now the body I find the most attractive is a healthy one'. It's amazing how intentionality and reflection can transform your perspective on things, I too find a healthy mind, body, spirit to be very attractive. I also love that you prioritize suncare, something that's underrated in the US!

This video was medicine for me. As I’m staring into my midlife I can reflect back at my younger insecure self and say you have to love yourself before you can love somebody else. So glad you figured that out quicker than I did. Thank you for relaxing my mind before I go to sleep. I have my father’s funeral in a couple of days and the roller coaster of emotions have been overwhelming. You are an angel on earth. Dios te bendiga.

Paola, I follow your channel bc it brings me such peace. I had to go back and watch this video again to remind me to love my body how it is. I have PTSD and Anxiety disorder. I am 57 years old and still to this day have struggled with my body image. Your raw, vulnerability is comforting to me. Thank you from my heart ❤ to yours ❤ for all the love, positive messages and creative healing energy you put out in the world! BTW I got one of your print cards and bookmark for Xmas from my daughter and I cried when I opened it. I felt so connected to you when I saw it! I'm going to frame it and place it in a special place! 🥰

Thank you so much for your videos. Although I’m a 50 year old woman I still find I have new things to learn. The way you openly share your thoughts, feelings, and way of life shows me how I yearn to have more peace and serenity in my life. You are a beautiful person and I hope - selfishly I admit - that you keep posting videos because they bring me peace and happiness. Sending love back to you - Barbara

This is so beautiful. Everyone who is not happy with their look should watch this and listen to your words. I liked that you mentioned that hobbies, interests and the ancestors are more interesting than the appearance. Very, very important. And i also liked when you said „i don‘t care about anti-aging“ and that we don‘t need all those products. So true. Thank you so much. It‘s important that we all think about this once in a while and you made it so beautiful

I couldn’t love this more! Thank you. So much wisdom. I deeply appreciate your comments about older people. I am older, will be 63 next week. I often feel ignored by young women, like in women’s Bible study. I believe I was born an “old soul” and when I was young, I had friends of all ages. I loved them for who they were and never gave age a thought. I am so grateful for all the older women who treated me as an equal and spent time with me.

I've always struggled not to judge people who spend any amount of time or money on self care, be it make up or indulgent food or skincare routines. I don't struggle with self-image, which plays into that. But seeing self-care as a shield against insecurities was a new thought for me, which makes it much easier to not judge others. I have my own insecurities, even if they're different from other people, and we can bond over our shared feelings of smallness and dissatisfaction even with different manifestations. Thank you for being my bridge to empathy and understanding.

I love the way you worded how genetics shape our bodies - hearing the word "inherited" legitimately made me tear up, because it's true that we look the way we do for a reason, because people in the past looked the same way.
@gemmagomez35563 жыл бұрын
It reminds me of a song I heard a few times, where the line (in a different language) goes roughly like - "He stood with the stern expression he inherited from his grandfather", but the English translation doesn't do justice for the word "inherited". It's really implied to have more of an active, participatory inflection - the literal translation is more of a "the face that he took [with] heritage", which I think is beautiful.

Beautifully done! You are a natural beauty. A reminder that aging is something that sadly so many never have the opportunity to do. Live each day with gratitude, be comfortable in your own skin. When you look in the mirror, you are not just seeing your reflection; you are looking back at your ancestors. Perhaps you have your grandmother’s nose, you mother’s eyes, your father’s dimples, etc. As we grow older, we do realize that it’s the beauty of the heart that matters most. Prayers to you and everyone who are suffering from the wildfires. May you all stay safe!

I am half Guatemalan and the other half is Norwegian, Irish, German, and Czech. My skin tone is a light yellowish tan and my hair is dark brown. I was raised by my mother and her side of the family(white) and I’ve never had contact with my Guatemalan side(they live in Guatemala). When I was younger I noticed I was different. I grew up in a mostly white community and school. I use to want my skin white and hair straight instead of curly but as I grow older I’m trying to embrace my Guatemalan side. I still feel very disconnected from it but I plan on studying Spanish and finding my family there someday but for now, we’ll start with embracing my looks.
