Craig, of course you get the final say on color schemes. I think the best color for 64's was Rangoon Red, with a white top. That is my preference. That will be the colors on my 64, if I don't go with a Ned Jarrett Nascar theme. Keep up the great work, is coming together.

Have had similar issues with back wheels on my '65, found that it works best to slide the wheel face down under the drum and then bring the top up with the drum inside the bowl of the wheel.

Heya Craig, regarding colour for the white canvas and all it's NOS metal :-)) As my wife would tell you, red heads wear Green better than anybody can. I think if you went with an Ocean Green Pearl sort of deep but still fairly brite colour and maybe a pistachio sort of green for the roof but mainly the Ocean sort of green pearl or light metallic if pearl is too expensive. A few coats of clear over that then cut and buff... it would suit you perfect. :-)) I'm sure almost anybody would dig on that. You going to stroke that old 352? I know it's pretty common to stroke a 351 Windsor to a 427 in the Mustangs these days [to keep it a small block package]. ;-) Don't vinyl the roof on either of them as it will bring the rust right back to it post haste and destroy your great job up there! If you insist on selling it, if I were your folks and had the cash I'd buy it to keep it in the family :-) Ever think of putting Galaxie gauges and appointments in a Falcon and twin the colours with one of the Galaxies? Drop one of those small block ooomph jobs in it.. yada yada [a fantastic project to do... then the medium size of the trio would be a fairlane of the same era]. :-)))

My Dad's favorite car ever, was a 64 1/2 Galaxie 500 XL 427 dual quad 4 speed. The man he bought is from ordered it as a daily driver/weekend oval racer. 140 mph speedo, 8 grand tack. He had to buy the biggest tires he could find in 67' every two months.

I love the galaxies. I wish I can afford to buy this 4000 dollar64 galaxy 500 that just popped up near me. It has a recently refreshed engine and it has all the trim. Only problem it’s a four door. But not too rusty for a northern car.

Just some advice, write down what you want to do to the car you get because if you are like me and change your mind alot, it can get expensive really fast. Remember it can take awhile, I haven't driven my truck in 2 years.

Go back to the Factory color... Hopefully Oxford White. My 1971 Galaxie500 is Ford Artic White... used to be, will be going back with orignal with added Pearl. She has a bourgandy interior 😎

If the body is straight (and it seems to be) paint it a lite color to show off the body lines, medium or darker paint hides the bodyline details, look at your black mustang compared to your LTD, lighter paint isn't shadowy compared to the darker paint, I'd suggest maybe a cream color paint (maybe with some metallic or pearl in the clear coat for depth) with a saddle tan interior to show of the interior details,

Oh, if you can find 18s or 20s stock style reversibles and paint them the same as the body color or even the interior color to blend the color scheme together that would look cool and be period correct style wheel

Agree. Steelies look right on cars with primer or less that finished bodywork. But when the body and paint look like 8+/10 I'm all for styled wheels. Steel just doesn't look right on shiny straight car.

Please, don't take this the wrong way. I'm not meaning to be a dick. If it were mine, I would hate to know that if I got a flat in the rear about 100 miles away from home, I damn near had to take the rear end out from under it to change a tire. If you have to go through all that to change out a tire, it just takes the fun out of driving it. I know, you're young. And you don't see things like a lot of us do. And that's cool. But to me, this is a 2am nightmare. You're on your way home at 2 am and get a flat in the rear on some lonesome road. Now you are off the side of the road, and you could very well be alone, wrestling this thing trying to put a tire on it so you can get home. If it doesn't bother you now, just wait a few years and let it happen to you a few times. You'll grow to hate it. Anyway, JMTC. Good luck with it.
