Hey big bro, pull the vacuum line off the distributor when setting initial timing. That will ensure that your base timing is accurate. Even with ported vacuum, I've seen it pull a little at idle. But man... this car has come a long way in a short amount of time. I admire your work ethic.
@Thecraig9092 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the tip! I'll go back and check it out. Thank you.
@Blobb20132 жыл бұрын
@@Thecraig909 Defnitly disconnect your vacuum line and plug it, since your vacuum line is connected to manifold vaccum. Your initial timing is proabably sitting at 0-5° after tdc due to the vacuum advancing even in idle. (Didnt watch the whole video before commenting...saw you switched to ported vacuum xD) Your initial timing with 12 is a good number. As far as i remember around 7° btdc is factory and 10-12° is supposed to wake the FE up a little.

Check the connections on both sides of your clapper starter relay, if its the external type. I had this happen on an old car of mine, as soon as you shut it off and try to crank everything just dies. It was corrosion on the contacts and terminals of the starter relay.

Check your voltage while it's running and push the RPMs up and check for 14.5v. if it's low, it's the alternator or alt wiring. If it's holding, and drops below 12 when off, then the battery is shit. You could get bad in parts new even. Good to see it rolling!

Other than the wrinkles the door panels don’t look to bad. The wrinkles can be removed by getting the vinyl loosened from the board and heated with a steamer or heat gun and restretched to remove the wrinkles and reattached to the board and will look fine.

Not sure what alternator you have, but you should consider 3G swapping it. They are way more reliable than the 1Gs and 2Gs and pretty cheap to get. I swapped one off of a mid 90s Taurus and it works perfectly. 130 Amps for 40 Bucks is hard to beat.
