Oh nice, I personally found it through a critical role animation, it's awesome that this song inspires people to make animations right?
@carlosrabock2 жыл бұрын
@@dodoschipper6635 And it's really cool to see how they use the lyrics differently as well. Imma use the "Ashes ashes, dust to dust." Line for this example: I saw a animation (a MAP, a group project of a bunch of artist to create one single animation) of Hollow Knight. The character in question was Grimm, the "leader" of the Grimm troupe. The thing with him is that he is a mere puppet, having as much control of himself as his minions have. His master, the Nightmare heart, survives by killing the last troupe leader and feeding their energy to his child. "Burn the father, feed the child" kinda way. So it makes sense. The other one is one I JUST imagined. It's about the Dream SMP, main character here being Wilbur. He basically created a country, tried to rig a election to gain power and failed, then becoming completely opposed to said country. The country was destroy twice, both times only "Ashes ashes" and "dust to dust" surviving. In the Hollow Knight example the Devil would be the Raidance, the twisted god that was forgotten. The Devil in the Dream SMP example would be Schlatt (the one who gained the election), who was a ram hybrid, having two long and black horns. Did anybody ask me this? No. But did I say it because I thought of something cool? Yeah :D

I know it's been ages, but I feel like the song is about some kind of mental issue like ADHD or depression. Their brain is burning up, but there's someone there to clear the smoke. But the person who's singing the song feels like they're a burden, cursing both of them with their issues. Basically a song about someone with deep issues who finally found someone that can make it all better and slowly learning to accept they may be more than a curse on everyone's existance. Now that I think about it, physical illness would fit as well.

Around this day a week ago marked a year since I discovered this song. I wanted to comment then, but... I had a hard time putting into words just how much this band has meant to me since then. But, on the off chance that one of the band members reads this, I want to try. This past year was crazy with covid and personal stuff, and your music became a kind of escape. Even though many of these songs aren't necessarily happy, I found this unique comfort in them -- whenever I was having a bad day, I could put on one of your songs and close my eyes and I'd feel as if someone was singing in my ear, telling me: "I know, it sucks. But it's going to be okay." I felt understood, in a way. And then there were times when I just needed good music to draw or dance to or be inspired by, and times when I needed beautiful lyrics to obsess over, and times when I just needed to put a great song on full volume and be lost in the music. This all sounds extremely sentimental, but honestly your music has changed my life for the better in so many ways. I'm in my teens, which is already hard and awkward and confusing enough as it is, and a global pandemic has only made my experience worse. But music is a good way to cope if I'm feeling down, and often that 'music' happens to be the Crane Wives'. So thank you, youtube recommendations, for leading me to this song a year ago. And thank you, Crane Wives, for making me feel happier in hard times.

I met this super cute girl, and started listening to Crane Wives to learn some of their stuff and impress her. She left for France so ig that won't work out, but now I get to enjoy this awesome band. AND the singer fits perfectly into my vocal range. Awesome.

There are very few songs that I just scream along, and this one is comfortably one of em lol “OH ASHES TO ASHES DUST TO DUST, THE DEVILS AFTER BOTH OF US” while my door is closed because I know this is a bop pff The rest I can sing quietly but this one has strength-
