Pascal is great in some of his other roles, but this he just doesn't fit as Reed. Sue is ok, but they totally should have cast Alice Eve.

Something big and flashy that “promises” a lot of action and suspense. They literally couldn’t think of a story that would have been engaging and fun without having to match these guys up against a galaxy-destroyer, who will be very underpowered in the end, I’m sure.

I think they might still do that. I am wondering if they plan on either using galactus as a hatchet man for this 60s verse to give a reason for the fantastic 4 to move to the main universe... or if they are planning on having galactus as an ongoing presence that ends up eventually tying into a figure like the beyonder. Why they might do that is to set up doomsday and a story where doom takes the powers of the beyonder to become a God king. Like dooms solution to incursions is borrowing from the beyonders own battle world idea. Aka, take various places and merge them into a kind of gestalt. For doom, he uses it to build one world under doom. For the writers, they use it to semi course correct and shift back in certain figures they killed off with their alternate universe counterparts. New Ironman, New Modok, New heroes, New villains, New Thanos. Doom is defeated. Battleworld is undone, and the beyonder kinda reminds the universes into a new whole. The Baxter building and avengers tower in the city skyline. Hydra is back again, with new comers aim... and of course some ongoing problems for the universe that will need a bunch of new teams to solve. Enter the west coast avengers, alpha flight, Excalibur, and others to help fight alongside the existing groups of the avengers, guardians of the galaxy, and Xmen.

They said Avengers 1 was a big gamble, and it's what really kicked off the superhero boom. The fact is, audiences are not tired of hero movies, nor are they tired of formulaic superhero stories. What they're tired of is bad movies. Besides maybe Antman (which is pretty divisive in that) you can't point to a movie that was good and yet failed. The movies that failed were all bad - the difference is just that in the past the MCU often succeeded when it had no business succeeding purely because the audience was so hooked in by the Infinity War story. Fantastic Four feels like they're learning from the popular films - Deadpool 3, No Way Home, Spiderverse - and pandering directly to the fans. And that gives it the chance to slowly start building up a story that people actually care about again. Deadpool 3, even Guardians 3, proves that the audience is still there and will still turn out. Fantastic Four, if it is good, will still succeed. They just need to deliver on the promises the trailer made.

The reason why the cast is a little older is that they’re actually supposed to have either one or both of their children in this movie, also why the title is first steps because their son Franklin’s supposed to be born at some point in this movie.

I'm a hardcore fan of the F4 comics and tbh, I was pretty pleased with the teaser trailer overall. The age of the four cast members I am indifferent towards. In the current stuff, Ben is married with two adopted alien kids, while Reed and Sue have their established two children in their teens now. So if anything, I am used to seeing them a bit older. Especially since this movie ISN'T an origin story. I really do like the fact that this movie takes place in its own retro-future aesthetic universe, free from all the nonsense the MCU has cranked out to bog it down. From what I understand, the F4 are the only superheroes in their world as well, so it will be nice to enjoy a movie focused on them alone, rather than fill it up with pointless cameos and member-berries in an attempt to tie it into the overall MCU narrative. Whatever the hell that even is anymore. "Slice of life" is an apt assessment of that Ben/Herbie scene. I don't think it was meant to be overly comedic or anything, just a nice little moment with the surreal but fun imagery of a robot and rock-man cooking food together. I understand everyone's skepticism about the film though, given the last assortment of shows and movies Marvel Studios have done. Hell, I am someone who didn't even like Deadpool 3, myself. However, I want this movie to be good- and if it IS good, I want it to succeed. I really do hope its the "First Step" in the right direction. We deserve to see these iconic characters done justice on the big screen.

I'm a huge fan of the classic Fantastic Four comics. So, while I'm glad that this movie is set in the 60's, it just doesn't look that good. Ben has a costume and doesn't sound right, and Reed has a mustache. You can say that those are nitpicks, but they're not. Also, isn't the Silver Surfer going to be a woman in this movie? That's dumb.
