They didn't change the size of her nose or lips, or face shape, jaw line, nothing that would seem offensive to me. They just tinted her lips red and turned them into a smirk. I have to admit the green lipstick makes her look more like a goblin or alien than a human witch. The red lipstick color is a common way to allude to passion or emotion in theater. Wicked is definitely a story in which you would need to relate to the emotions of the main character and her story. The covering of the eyes would suggest a mystery that you would want to discover. The Wizard of Oz film used every trick in the book to use color to express emotion, magic, allusion and more and the Wicked Witch remained black and white in it. The world was transitioning from black and white filmography to color and it was moving from war and death to new life and rebirth. We will see how this turns out.🙏💕

I also like that the "smirk" on the original is saucy and playful -- it's sardonic, yes, but there's still a certain pleasantness and sense of warmth to it as well. (It would have been easy to mess that up and make it closer to a cold, cruel sneer.) Really remarkable how they got all that exactly right.

More better Emotion and acting coming out of that poster than her in the whole movie... I'm calling it Now.

She's claiming she's protecting Elphaba. Fans of Wicked have been doing that for 21 years, we don't need a newcomer who admitted to only seeing it after being offered the role to do it. They already messed up Glinda casting Ariana.

To the Critical Drinker: That was an EXCELLENT analysis of the original "Wicked" poster graphic. It was thoughtful, insightful and well-presented. The fan-made movie graphic returned mystique and intrigue to Elphaba Thropp that was completely sanitized by the studio's graphic. It's too bad Ms Erivo didn't stop to think about that before going rapid-fire on her Twitter account. The damage is now done, and I wish Universal luck re-marketing "Wicked" against the backlash.

Tim Curry was once asked what he thought of all the fan fiction made for "Rocky Horror Picture Show". He just smiled and replied, "We did it better."
@bhart332126 күн бұрын
That's cuz Tim Curry was a quintessential professional & absolute legend. That's why even his flops achieved cult status. He was the absolute best part of whatever movie or TV show he was in. Oh and shocker no one ever gave crap about his LGBTQ status cuz it isn't important to his craft or who he was as a person. It was simply one aspect to who he was not his entire identity. That's why he's an icon today he focused on the work not the agenda.
@bbbbbbb5126 күн бұрын
@@bhart3321I literally didn't know he was gay until this very moment and he's always held a soft spot in my heart. His VA work for narrating A Series of Unfortunate Events was also great. As you said, I never knew he was gay because he never made it his identity.

@@bhart3321also never knew. Respect. Anyone making their sexuality their identity is annoying, from a flamer to Dan Bilzerian. I always love that Norm quote about pride. I'm paraphrasing, but it should be fairly close, "Having pride in something you have no control over makes no sense. It's like having pride for being born with 2 ears, 2 arms, or a nose."
@diannabrutsman527126 күн бұрын
@@bhart3321 Actually, many people were curious about his sexual orientation, specifically after he starred as Dr. Frank Furter in the Rocky Horror Show. Tim Curry has never confirmed or denied whether he is gay or not. He said it is his business and no one else's. Even though there have been rumors of him dating several women such as Marcia Hurwitz (she is a talent manager) because they were spotted together on the red carpet multiple times and later rumored to be dating Marina Drujiko (a Russian model). In both cases it was never confirmed by him. He leads a very private personal life. He could very well be heterosexual, gay, or bisexual, who knows (and like you said, we shouldn't care! Nothing to do with his job or his content of character). But again, I think it's important to note that he never confirmed his sexual orientation. But yes, I agree, his LGBTQ status isn't important, what is important is how good of an actor he is and he also seems like a genuinely good man. He has that on screen presence that makes him hard to ignore....he is a great legend. So sad that he suffered a stroke, but otherwise says he is in good health.
