Hi Bryan and Matrix. We have, on several occasions, mail ordered sapphire dirt from them and have found quite a few. We also send the ones we find back to them for free eval and have found that they are one of the best appraisers we have found over 10+ years now. Thank you for doing this video. Slava Ukraini.

How do you on average do in terms of the value of the stones? Obviously I don't plan on doing it for the money, but it would be nice if the sapphires offset the cost of the gravel so that I can do it more often.
@elisabethgrace31459 ай бұрын
Just last week my friend and I opened up a bag of gravel we purchased when we there summer of 2022! I've been there twice and have great memories and sapphires. Glad you enjoyed your visit and I agree it's a 10 out of 10.

I live about 20 miles from here. Been coming here with family and friends for 40 years. You will find a tablespoon of sapphires in each bucket, but they are neither rare nor flawless. The Rock Creek deposit has only ever produced very small sapphires that were gathered up in the late 1800's, bagged, and sent off to Switzerland to be used and cut into round watch bearings. That has been their only commercial value. Stones of jewelry quality are extremely rare and generally need to be heat treated to gain color. It's still fun though.

It may just be meX but your uploads seem to be lessening or getting shorter and I love this channel. I hope all is well and you keep pumping out the great videos with that camping couple and the many others you’ve met on your journey! I miss the stuff with your nephew, that was such a great series of vids having him along! Idk, just keep the content coming, you do your craft so well and I’m missing the 30 min Herk videos or overnight amethyst digs…Every video is a treat so thank you for that!!

I've been looking forward to you doing a Montana sapphire episode. Coincidentally, I did my first mail-order box of gravel this weekend. It's from the Eldorado Bar location, though. I got just over 30 ct from the box, several over a carat, and about 4 clear enough to cut. The biggest was 2.6 ct. No fancy colors, though. Gonna try Gem Mountain next. Travel is pretty hard for me, so it's nice to be able to rock-hound by mail. I wish it was possible at more types of deposits. No chance of me searching for red beryl. I'm close enough to the Benitoite mine to do a day-trip, so I'll get to do that one at least.

Last time I was that mine was over 10 years ago, but we did VERY well. By the way... in that first screen, I think you missed a BIG lavender to the left of the greens you picked. Might be a trick of the camera, or purple rhyolite, amethyst, etc., but now I won't be able to sleep...

I loved this video Bryan! I was happy you found a pink one - it was really pretty! At first, I was little disappointed they were all clear to greenish, but it was interesting to learn (I already knew they could be heat treated), though, that the final heated colors could come out differently even though they pretty much looked the same going in. Do they heat treat right there?
