Separate or Asing/pisah in malay is sometimes asked when you order nasi takeaways, basically it's either you want the nasi and the lauk together or 'asing' where they would separate the nasi and lauk- this one usually when people eat the meal hours later so the food aren't spoiled due to everything mixed together..

That makes sense. And I thought that was what he meant. But it still confused me because the plastic food tray had separate compartments for the rice and the curry sauce and vegetables. They all had to go into separate compartments anyway. The different dishes would automatically be separate, so I didn't know why this was a question. Plus, I ordered more dishes than would fit into that one container. So it was obvious that some items had to go into a separate bag or second container. There was no way to put them together anyway. So I didn't understand the question at the time. 😃

the smaller spaces give the true vibes of a typical japanese eatery (in japan), where everyone eats single-pax lunch, and finish up quickly, and back to work in no time

I didn't think of that, but that is definitely true. The decor had a distinct modern Japanese style to it.

Thank you very much. That's a wonderful compliment. I'm glad the audio sounds good. It is sometimes a struggle to figure out how to record better quality audio, especially since cameras like the GoPro and the Insta360 X3 don't have microphone jacks. If you want to get better audio with an external mic, you have to find some way to mount the microphone and use adapters to plug it in. It isn't always easy. 😁 I would very much like to return to Vietnam. My original plan was to travel all the way to Hanoi along the coast and perhaps even to the mountains of northern Vietnam. I didn't manage to do that on my first trip. It would be nice to return and complete the journey.

The Independence Day 'Merdeka Day' parade for this year will be held in Putrajaya beginning from 8.00am. Are you going to be there making content, Doug?
@PlanetDoug

I don't think I will be able to. I won't be in Kuala Lumpur at the time. I could make a special trip if I wanted to attend. But I suppose I could also track down independence day celebrations wherever I am at the time.

The Canon G7X MK 3 has mic input and 4k so I don't understand your fixation on the Mk2.
@PlanetDoug

The M3 has unreliable autofocus. That is its fatal flaw. Canon added a microphone jack, but they made the autofocus much worse. And that made the M3 as undesirable as the M2 for me. I'm leery of cameras with a reputation for poor autofocus in video mode. I got burned badly one time when I purchased the Panasonic G85. Panasonic has a reputation for making good video cameras. And the G85 seemed like a solid low budget option. However, it turned out that the autofocus didn't work in video mode. That drove me crazy, and I eventually had to let the camera go. I end up talking about certain cameras a lot because they represent when camera companies took a wrong turn. They get so close to making a good vlogging camera and then they screw it up. Every time. It's like the Sony x3000 and the Sony ZV-1. Sony was onto a good thing with both of those cameras. They got so close to producing a half-decent vlogging camera. And then instead of taking that camera and making it better, they made it worse or abandoned it altogether. They fix or add certain features to make them better vlogging cameras. But at the same time, they remove or make worse other features. And that's what happened with the Canon G7X Mark 3. They added the microphone jack, which is amazing, but then they screwed up the autofocus. And they also left the field of view of the lens the same. And the field of view is just a little bit too narrow. I think I also end up talking about the M2 rather than the M3 because I've never even seen an M3. Nobody I know ever bought one because of the autofocus problem. So, I've never been able to try one out myself and play around with it. But I've had multiple opportunities to get my hands on the M2. That's the version that people actually bought.

@@PlanetDoug Canon doesn't update their firmware? You'd think there would have been an update to address the issue you describe.

I think there have been updates. I think they added a new feature that allows you to adjust how slowly or quickly the autofocus kicks in. But based on all the KZbin reviews that I watched, these firmware updates didn't really fix the problem. It's been the same for all the cameras that use contrast-detect autofocus, such as Panasonic cameras. You can find all kinds of videos on KZbin of people trying to improve the autofocus and coming up with a wide range of settings that they say makes it better. But it never really gets better for video. Their only realistic option is to finally add phase-detect autofocus. Panasonic and Olympus have finally gotten around to doing that with their recent camera releases. But Canon hasn't released a new version of the G7X line. I think they've abandoned it. These compact cameras seem to have been wiped out by smartphones.

The bike lanes don't go everywhere in Kuala Lumpur, of course. They seem to be concentrated in this downtown area. And by utilizing the walking and cycling paths along the Klang River, you can ride all the way from Merdeka Square to Mid Valley Shopping Mall. I did that a few times. But they aren't always easy to follow. You still have to navigate some difficult intersections and stairs and construction and things like that. I guess a bike tour company would help with that. They would have plotted an easier route that stops at some city attractions. I like that this MikeBikes company uses the classic Dutch orange bikes for their tours. With my Dutch heritage, I'm familiar with that style of bicycle. I've never done one of the tours myself. I just rode my own bike for a while when I first came to Malaysia. But the challenges of cycling in Kuala Lumpur were a bit extreme and I switched over to using public transit instead. But it can still be fun to ride a bike from time to time.
