While watching the video my feed suggested a video on Go Pro the company. Amazing drop in the share price since launching around 2014. Sounds like it became a victim of smart phones

Good afternoon Doug from Regina SK. Canada .I always enjoy watching your video . I am retired and have a question ? hopefully not to personal . have you ever come back to Canada to renew your passport if it expired . do you need to file your tax return every year . are you still cover by health care if you return to Canada ? any things else I need to know , I would like to see the world just like you . thank you in advance.

I've had to renew my passport several times over the decades, of course. But I don't think I've ever done it in Canada. Each time my passport expired, I was overseas. So, I went to the Canadian embassy in that country and applied for a new passport. I remember it used to be somewhat complicated. There were requirements for several references, and they would take the time to telephone all of the references to make sure I was who I said I was. And documents had to be notarized by a lawyer. So, it wasn't always an easy process. But I got it done each time. Nowadays, the process has been simplified greatly. Basically, you can always renew your passport overseas. You just have to do it through the Canadian embassy. You don't need to return to Canada at all. As for health insurance, my understanding is that you have to be a resident of a specific province in Canada to qualify for national health insurance. When you are overseas for an extended length of time, you lose that residency status. Therefore, you can't just fly back to Canada and instantly be covered by national insurance. As a Canadian citizen, of course, you are eligible for Canadian health insurance, but technically you need to reside in Canada for a certain number of months in order for your official residency to become active again. But I don't know how strictly these rules are enforced. And I think it's different from province to province. They might require that you have to return to Canada and physically live there and have an address for 3 months or 6 months before you qualify for insurance again. But I've never needed to do this so I don't have any personal experience. As for money and taxes, I don't know much about that either. I've never made enough money for this to be a big concern. 😁 But my understanding is that Canadians are not legally required to file an income tax return in Canada when they are living somewhere else. When I worked overseas, I filed my income taxes in those countries. And that is all I did. I think if you make a lot of money and you like to keep everything super organized, it probably would be a good idea to also file in Canada. You don't have to pay Canadian taxes on income you earned overseas. At least that is what I have been told over the years. But maybe filing every year would be a good idea anyway. I never did. There have been many years when I had no income at all anyway. So there was nothing to file or report. I figured that since my income was exactly $0, nobody would mind if I didn't file an income tax report. Perhaps if I ever reside in Canada again, I will have some explaining to do. But I don't anticipate any problems. I have all the paperwork from when I paid taxes overseas. And I hardly made any money at all. So I'm not that worried about it. 😁 To be honest, I'm not the best resource for information like this. I think I've led a somewhat unusual life. I wouldn't say that I've been off the grid exactly. But I'm not really on the grid either, and I don't have a lot of the concerns that most people would have. Most people have been building up retirement plans and investments and have insurance and dependents and own property and have health concerns. For better or for worse, I haven't done any of those things and I don't have any of those things. I've noticed that there are many KZbin channels out there run by Americans or Canadians who retired in places like Thailand and Malaysia. And they provide a lot of information about how to do this in the proper way. They would be far better resources than anything I could tell you. 😁

The situation with KL Monorail platform door is according to the Transport Minister, the 1st phase of repairs will be at KL Sentral, Tun Sambanthan, Maharajalela, and Hang Tuah- having their automatic gate system completed by October 2024. For the rest of the station will be operational by the end of 2024. Hopefully 🤞🏻

I normally use Touch'n'Go all the time. I use it whenever I can. It's so much more convenient than using cash. And I enjoy the process, too. It makes me feel like I'm up to date with modern technology. For my wonton mee breakfast, I just didn't notice that he had a QR code there that I could scan. As usual, I was probably so caught up in just the experience and taking video, that I never noticed the sign. I just assumed it was a cash-only operation. Next time, I will know better and be prepared. 😎

Situations like this it may be the the problem is ambient temp related. In an air cond environment it may not be warm enough to trigger the problem.
