SSB is great. I recently bought quite an amount of it (I'm trying to build a 200k SSB ladder). Those were the money that I may use for future wedding/housing related spendings if any. Cuz ssb can liquidate within a month if u need to. My goal now is to only keep a 12 mths emergency savings in my bank and nothing more. So those money that I cannot part with will go into ssb until i hit the 200k ssb cap, while the rest goes into stock/etf investment

I am a The Woke Salaryman fan, enjoyed his comics. kudus to have him on set. FYI: I love the wooden table, but when people tap or bang on them, the mic picks them up .... can use the over head boom instead?

Hi guys, thanks for the podcast, its very helpful. But someone is kicking the table and causing a constant bumping sound in the background for about the 23rd minute. It will be nice not to do that or get a mic that is not so sensitive. B) Thank you again.

Last time bank interest rate was at 3% compounded and one could save quite comfortably with a salary. Not too shabby. Now, ppl have to find ways to earn more and take more risks. Or that's what I heard.

Maybe start logging your finances, how you are spending now and how are you investing (if any). Once you have clarity of what your monthly in/outflows look like, you'd be better able to plan and make decisions going forward. I feel the same, was once in that position wondering where does the money go! You've got this, never too late to start planning👍🏻

If my salary is 8k per month, i can save $4k-5k per month, easily 100k within the 2nd year. Sadly i don't earn 8k per month.

Don't lose heart. It will take 7-8 years to reach 100k for most people with average income. I have 0$ at 30, 100k at around 38.

Nothing wrong. 35 - 2024 (Median $5.3k?) 28 - 2017 ($100k / Median $4.2k) 25 - 2014 ($0 / Median $3.9k) The guest made 8k a month at 28. That was years back - x 2 Median Salary, where standard of living not so expensive as it is. In today’s term, i think thats about 12-15k (inflation)? Just earn more, you will reach 100k soon.

Being own boss also means financially shackled by the business. And most startups close shop within first 2 years. Big risk, big reward.

Totally. Not. True. As someone who runs my own company, I've been in situations when I pray that I'm just a salaried employee, because no matter how badly or tough I do, I still get paid. I still get sick leave. When times are tough, you pay your employees first. You pay rent first. You pay admin fees and taxes first. When times are good, you hire, but now you're responsible for another person. With all due respect, being your own boss is the only sure way to chain yourself financially.

i never believed in these kind of interviews. they always get people who are "privileged". he himself mentioned he had scholarships, and earning 8k by the time he was 28 years old. how many are able to earn 8k even by mid 30s (even 40s), or have the brains to get scholarships? realistically, if you are a fresh grad and you pay for your own school fees, 3 years of working from 23-25 if you minus cpf and the amount of money you have all goes into paying back the schools fees. you will practically have nothing much to save. take these videos with a ladle of salt
