I find it kind of inspiring, imagine if they did this for every US citizen getting released from prison. Reassuring them that no matter how harsh their crime, no matter how harsh the punishment they received for it, their Senators still see them as true American citizens and part of the Nation. That this can really be a new beginning for them. Bonus point: Given the sheer amount of prisoners in the US carceral system, it could possibly be a really taxing obligation for Senators to attend to, giving them some reason to really want to find solutions to the issue. They might even want to make the part about "new beginnings" a reality, imagine that.

Gohmert giving her that flag is so insanely disrespectful to this nation's military men and women, veterans, and their families. @jschuler536 ай бұрын
@helenb. Well put and interesting thought. I agree. But there are legit reasons why people are not as obedient or patriotic as I remember in the 60s. It's a global marketplace and immigration has changed cultures, demographics and the kinds of societies that will work for the changing populations. What does treason mean when you're a citizen of the world, or barely ever live in your home country. Business is not patriotic. It's become a completely global market for manufacturers as well as consumers.

The word treason has been used loosely to attack the people you don't like .... I'm not a lawyer so .... grains of salt please .... my best understanding of the strictly legal and narrow definition is that treason can only happen when the country is in a state of war ..... The last time we were in a real war .... declared by congress .... was 1945 ..... If people are doing things that could be charged as treason IF we were at war ... other crimes need to be applied but not treason ....
@knytrix6 ай бұрын
