Obviously there are multitudes of awesome people to talk about. I mean we discuss them for an entire month every year and we still haven't covered everything. My personal hero is Robert Smalls, who led an escape of his fellow slaves and their families by stealing a ship in the dead of night and disguising themselves as confederate sailors, then joined the Union army and used his inside information about confederate battle plans and tactics to help the union win. He went on to serve in congress! What a badass.
