Dems point to Republicans as hypocritical. Republicans point to Dems as hypocritical. Folks on both sides are hypocritical. But what’s true, is in today’s society, you aren’t targeted by institutions for falling in line with recent, progressive trends. It was the complete opposite as recent as 20 years ago. Again, many liberals and conservatives alike are hypocritical. The only difference is whose hypocrisy is more popular and accepted at a given time in our society.

This guy I know wrote an article for his college newspaper about how conservatives are being silenced. It got popular enough that one of those KZbin channels with a few million subs that does debates with random participants invited him to participate. After writing an article that receieved national attention, he flew to LA to be in a KZbin video that now has tens of millions of views, where he tried to unironically argue conservatives like him are being silenced... He's a smart guy, but the cognitive dissonance was astounding to me.

But they often discuss actual highly relevant topics, and their delivery is suppost to keep people engaged, so of course it's also emotional. The thing is, you can't criticise individual shows or people for using this tactic (to an extent ofc!), but the US desperately needs neutral media. Butker's mother, Elizabeth Butker, is a medical physicist at Emory University in Atlanta. She has been at the university since 1988 and works in Emory's Winship Department of Radiation Oncology. Keller spent as much as 35 years as a medical physicist at the prestigious Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta. She earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1985 and later earned a master's. While blazing a career in physics, Keller raised two children, including Harrison and his older sister Charlotte, who played soccer at Emory. All that completely contradicts Butker's view that women should focus on marriage and raising a family rather than enjoying productive careers like their male counterparts.
@wolfofthewest8019
@wolfofthewest8019 10 күн бұрын
Butker never said women should focus on marriage and raising a family rather than enjoying productive careers. Implicit in his question "How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about *all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career?"* is the assumption these women will have careers. There is simply no way to square that with your claim that Butker was saying women should not careers. The pathetic and hateful attempts to use this man's mother to bash him are self-defeating. The mere fact that she is Butker's *mother* completely destroys this argument. Butker literally said *"Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world,* but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world." That could be a statement made directly to his mother. She had a successful career, but I would bet money that if you asked her which was more important to her, family or career, she would say family.

The MAGA crowd has such a pervasive victim mentality in every aspect of their lives despite their positions of privilege because they are being manipulated by these grifting millionaires exploiting them and their worst fears/insecurities for their own personal gain. Nobody cared about Harrison Butker until he made this speech, it's the most blatantly transparent attempt to set him up for a career in politics after his playing career. Conservative pundits don’t care about the actual First Amendment and what it really applies to any more than they care about ‘facts.’ They know that it riles up the base and they know that only a handful have actually read the Constitution and few of the ones who have understand the context, nuance, and legal implications. It is also no different than how bigots and racists will complain when being called out that they’re victims of political correctness.
