Stewart is right that every reporter should call out politicians about their lies immediately to their faces!

but then they won't get invited next time around. and to the media corp that employs them, they d be useless, if they no longer ve access to the politician. and so the reporter would be let go thereafter.

yeah, except if cable news journalists actually did that, they'd be out of a job. News sells, they need to keep generating revenue. For what it's worth, at least NPR has journalists that push back against lies or ask for proof or just straight up say "that's factually incorrect", but NPR is poorly funded and needs donations unlike cable news, plus has such a massive stigma in the right that the people that need to hear journalistic integrity will never hear it.

The thing is any media that asks the hard questions... will not be invited to ask any more questions ever again. And even if some question slip through occasionally, they wont be coming from the media that the voters of that politician ever watch. The 2 party system in the US, for lots of reasons, insures that almost no politician is ever held accountable for any wrong doing by their own parties voters.

They will not notice if you just turn them off. We should tell them (not harassing them either) that they missed such or such point at such or such interview, and praise them when they correctly grilled such or such interviewee. There are emails, and social networks. Or, communication with the editor boards. (Once, I protested to the editor of a British newspaper for an insensitive column about someone's death. The editor wrote me back and said they'll take care about that.) There are reporters who do confront their interviewees flip-flops and lies. There are also plenty of interviewees who double down on their lies or irrational claims. Case on point, the Kristi Noem interviews mentioning the dog affair.

@@sandlotscout6358 LOL, oh, sweetie. You don't even have the most basic idea how this works. First off, to win an appeal, you generally have to show *legal* error in the judge's decisions during trial. It's not a relitigation of the trial itself (barring exceptional circumstances, such as the emergence of huge new evidence), not that such a thing would help you. A jury (including a guy who said he only gets his news from Truth Social) taking less than a day to unanimously find guilt on 34 charges is a sign that you lost that argument decisively. You might as well be a JV high-school football team asking for a re-do of your game against the Patriots. All you have, as you've demonstrated, is confused and ignorant non-sequiturs. The first was on “Crossfire” when he was a guest, and eviscerated the hosts (one was Tucker Carlson) so thoroughly that the show was canceled. The other was an episode of “The Daily Show” in which he destroyed Jim Cramer. His fiery speeches before Congress for 9/11 first responder’ medical treatment, and his scathing press conferences ripping up the Congressional Republicans who gleefully voted against the PACT Act (improving medical care for veterans suffering from working in burn pits) both brought forth legislation to help Americans.

@@Steve-Richterbro you weren’t in the courtroom with the Jury. The prosecution provided ample evidence to get a unanimous guilty verdict on 34 counts. That’s all you need to know.

I actually thought Biden’s slow turn and smile was intentionally funny. He threw shade just but giving a look. That takes skill.

I agree. I'm so sick of this b******* of running down everything Biden does just because it isn't the response they think it should be Many comedians and Stewart in particular use smiles to convey responses. I guess it's only expressive when they do it. 🤷‍♀️

When I was a young kid 20+ years ago my parents would just have fox news playing on the TV sometimes. I remember Megyn Kelly being on all the time. She seemed like such a normal person. I see her now and I can't believe it's the same person. How has crazy infected so many people?

But he said it was a beautiful sunny day at his inauguration but it was RAINING! How is no one making that connection?
@tguf456
@tguf456 7 ай бұрын
Actually, that's exactly what I thought of when he said that. He'd 100% projecting everytime he utters something at this point since he's finally been found guilty in court/got caught. Projection examples, e.g. the people said lock her up (no, he said that), someone could lie and get in trouble for saying it was sunny when it was raining (no, but he was that "someone" who did lie about that), etc.

@@tguf456 fr. Seth Meyers even hesitated to run the clips of him saying lock her up. Like is it even moot at this point to pull the files. Funny he used the raining example coz he literally did that. His lawyers prob had to picture book that to him to keep him off the stand. Like this is you saying it was a sunny day. Ok. Now here’s the rain. I see the rain. Right but YOU said WHAT AGAIN
