yeah, except if cable news journalists actually did that, they'd be out of a job. News sells, they need to keep generating revenue. For what it's worth, at least NPR has journalists that push back against lies or ask for proof or just straight up say "that's factually incorrect", but NPR is poorly funded and needs donations unlike cable news, plus has such a massive stigma in the right that the people that need to hear journalistic integrity will never hear it.

The thing is any media that asks the hard questions... will not be invited to ask any more questions ever again. And even if some question slip through occasionally, they wont be coming from the media that the voters of that politician ever watch. The 2 party system in the US, for lots of reasons, insures that almost no politician is ever held accountable for any wrong doing by their own parties voters.

If every politician were scrutinized the way Trump is, almost every single one of them on both sides would be locked up already and Trump the politician ceases to exist in the first place because the conditions of corruption in the country would’ve ceased to exist… I would also argue that Trump’s lies were more about inflating his own ego than harming the American ppl… He didn’t lie about supplying weapons to ISIS, or WMDs in Iraq…or if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor…and list goes for literally miles… If you’re willing to hold other presidents and politicians accountable to the same standard…I would still disagree with you, but I’d respect where you’re coming from because you’d at least be consistent.

They will not notice if you just turn them off. We should tell them (not harassing them either) that they missed such or such point at such or such interview, and praise them when they correctly grilled such or such interviewee. There are emails, and social networks. Or, communication with the editor boards. (Once, I protested to the editor of a British newspaper for an insensitive column about someone's death. The editor wrote me back and said they'll take care about that.) There are reporters who do confront their interviewees flip-flops and lies. There are also plenty of interviewees who double down on their lies or irrational claims. Case on point, the Kristi Noem interviews mentioning the dog affair.

First off, to win an appeal, you generally have to show *legal* error in the judge's decisions during trial. It's not a relitigation of the trial itself (barring exceptional circumstances, such as the emergence of huge new evidence), not that such a thing would help you. A jury (including a guy who said he only gets his news from Truth Social) taking less than a day to unanimously find guilt on 34 charges is a sign that you lost that argument decisively. You might as well be a JV high-school football team asking for a re-do of your game against the Patriots. All you have, as you've demonstrated, is confused and ignorant non-sequiturs. He engaged in the "two realities" by blasting Democrats for plotting Trump's trial as part of the great plan. Then he turns around rips Republicans for accusing the same thing. I have no idea why he felt the need to 'both sides' that issue when its clear where reality actually lies. Stewart is usually on his game, but that was a big oof.

If this is true, then for fun look up two particular Jon Stewart interviews. The first was on “Crossfire” when he was a guest, and eviscerated the hosts (one was Tucker Carlson) so thoroughly that the show was canceled. The other was an episode of “The Daily Show” in which he destroyed Jim Cramer. His fiery speeches before Congress for 9/11 first responder’ medical treatment, and his scathing press conferences ripping up the Congressional Republicans who gleefully voted against the PACT Act (improving medical care for veterans suffering from working in burn pits) both brought forth legislation to help Americans.

It really doesn’t matter if Alvin Bragg was the most politically motivated man in the country. At the end of the day 12 jurors looked at the evidence, and unanimously agreed the state proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt. These jurors were called at random from the jurisdiction the crime took place and both the defense and prosecutions had an equal amount of strikes.

His lawyers couldn't even sow reasonable doubt much less prove one of the hardest things to prove in the legal system. Witnesses were only blocked from testifying as experts on things they are not experts in, not abuse of discretion. The crimes were committed blocks away from the courthouse, no reason to move it for some forum shopping aristocrat, not abuse of discretion. The jury was instructed on the law, fairly, not abuse of discretion.

Happens to many of us, sooner or later. For me, it was Iraq, fifteen years earlier. And then, for the people before me, there was the Lewinsky scandal. And then AIDS. Iran-Contra. Watergate. Vietnam. The list goes on. Powerful people always lie about something, sooner or later. Making people believe their lies is part of why they are powerful in the first place. And for every one of them, the media will always be around to give them the beneft of the doubt, and thus end up making the powerful even moreso, at our expense.

Actually, that's exactly what I thought of when he said that. He'd 100% projecting everytime he utters something at this point since he's finally been found guilty in court/got caught. Projection examples, e.g. the people said lock her up (no, he said that), someone could lie and get in trouble for saying it was sunny when it was raining (no, but he was that "someone" who did lie about that), etc.
