I have known I was trans since I was 4. I am older now (64) and was extremely sad and confused as even my mom beat me physically and mentally for 12 years till she kicked me out of the house at 16. I attempted suicide half a dozen times since. At 50 I finally started taking hormones on my own and I almost immediately felt better. I so regret not having the opportunity to start much younger. So not being able to be me was definitely a devastating situation. How can the GOP know better than real Doctors. They even hate cis woman’s rights and try to tell everyone else how to live. I have found that most republicans only change their mind if it happens to them or a close member of their family, then magically things change for them. Funny how that works. People trying to control other people has never worked and it never will. I think it’s time to get rid of all the old gop’s or dem’s that are still living the caveman days of their youth. They still think they are the hammer and everyone else is the nail, except for the rich and powerful. Again funny how much money talk’s to the greedy and that is their hill they won’t budge from even though it’s actually an anthill they preach from.

At around the 19min mark, Parker says that it's not an easy task to get on hormone therapies even as an adult. As a more or less cis-male (try to explain what a demi-male is, and the glazed expressions appear, so I mostly don't even try these days), I found it amazingly easy to get testosterone from a doctor. Which I think just proves Parker's point: that doing anything against heteronormative medicine is opposed, while doing anything that follows the orthodoxy is supported without question.

This is really key to point out. These bills have deliberate carve outs so that Cis kids with precocious puberty can still get blockers, and surgeons can still perform surgery on intersex babies. Those who help others with support are called child abusers or groomers. People are trans, it's a fact. Denial, it ain't just a river in Egypt.

People in power like to scapegoat to fill their own ego. Eventually, the far−right wants total control of the country, where the cultural hegemony parallels that of 16th century Latin America.

@@ShinyTillDawn I think the far right loves the simple answer. They don't like variations, complexity, those who don''t fit their world view. The world is not full of nails to be hit by them, the hammer.

Well, think about what these issues are covering up. This isn’t done for nothing. It’s wasting taxpayer money, and it’s definitely smoke in mirrors.

But you know something else hearing about all these laws really shows you like the state of "acceptance" for the lgbtq community. There is none! And it's a sad reality that really needs to be called out. Everybody deserves that kind of equality and everybody deserves to be accepted in society

As a Transwoman I don't agree with the sports issue. If I would have transitioned in high school, I would have dominated in track and field and all the sports I played in. 3 or 4 years after starting HRT my advantage as far was less. Because my natural muscular advantage had decreased significantly. Certainly I don't agree that it's as big of an advantage as many on the right say. But it is a tough one. And my true opinion is that I don't have the answer to this. It's not just the bigots that have a problem with this. Reasonable people and many of my trans friends don't agree with sports being fair. It's a tough one. There are some safeguards in parts of the country that make it exhaustingly hard to get HRT or surgeries. I personally found the process of transitioning exhausting, but getting hormones was rather easy. I'm glad. I don't want red states and the misinformed to be the gatekeepers. I like much of what you'll said. I have a few more critical points. But I'll leave it at that.

Did you watch the video to hear how in the cases where it applies to transchildren, these children are on puberty blockers and thus are not having any of the advantages you claim transgirls have? It's not an advantage: if you look at Lia Thomas' runner-up, she was mere tenths of seconds slower than Lia. Lia won only 2 races and didn't break a single record, one of those records would've required her to be almost 10 seconds faster. The cis-female athlete that won 6 races? Almost no one heard about her because the people shouting how Lia was a cheater and claiming she is erasing women were literally erasing women's results in the championship in question. If we would have this advantage you claim we have, we would've seen it by now: the IOC relaxed it's guidelines since 2004, yet the first transfemale athlete to reach the Olympic stage for a medal still hasn't happened. Sports are not fair: we would not have losers and winners if we did.

@@joshuarivas442 If you think transpeople only get hate for opposing their community you seriously don't seem to understand how our world looks on a day to day basis. I personally do not understand the idea surrounding the informed-consent model which takes out the psychology part as a reform of treatment (which is not active in a lot of countries, I might add) because I do not understand what the stimulant would be to request the help of a psychologist. The idea behind it to cut down on waiting times for care is one I can get, but I'm afraid the informed-consent model would heavily play into anti-trans organisations should it lead to only a small rise in regret-rates. And then there's the situation in which those organisations might LOVE to abuse and test the system to turn it into something even more shady than how they typically already like to portray it, opposite of what it actually is: regular healthcare.

The sad part about this is, this is an amazingly detailed video where you all are laying down truth after truth, but if I were to show this to my mom (who is as democratic as they come and was a big Bernie backer in 2016!), she'd shut me down and say "this is boring and tiresome" or "this is too bizarre for me to think about" or "oh dear...isn't transitioning a bit extreme? why can't people just be happy without changing who they are" or "they just need to try growing out of it and being resilient" or one of about five other lines she's told me when I try bringing up my dysphoria.

This is why a person's life should be private. It's not republicans fault we're faced with it, and neither are the democrates. It's a culture thing now it's even in my 1st grader twin girls minds because it's in the schools weather you speak about it or not. I'll rais my child the way I want and it's not to hate but to be cautious. I don't believe in the trans community. It should be to receive support for dysphoria, treatment of the mental disorder and if after 18 you want than do. It's awful all around really

Honestly, I think it would be kind of dope to learn more about struggles or normal everyday things that the trans community goes through that people wouldn't normally think of. I never thought about the possibility of someone losing their job due to a background check. Conversations like this need to happen. Obviously the conversations on the opposing end are happening about the few and select situations where the trans community is "a threat" like sports or whatever.

At what point do we trust parents to make the best decision for their child? I ask in kind of two directions - when do trust that parents who know that they have a child who is trans make a decision that allows for a medical transition? And when do we trust that parents that have child who is trans to not want their child to make a medical transition until they are older?
@sjones31912 жыл бұрын
And children are not adults to make adult decisions. That’s what I don’t understand.
@lexp60992 жыл бұрын
We trust parents to vaccinate their kids or not, to send them to public school or to keep them cloistered from the world and be taught one narrow worldview; we trust them to indoctrinate their children with religion (FAITH *is* a choice, that's the whole point). A lot of parents don't make the right choices for their kids as it is. Listening to a child and letting them express themself is never a bad choice.
@sarahdugan60812 жыл бұрын
I’m all for allowing children to express themselves. And that’s how I parent. But I also make important decisions for my child, like bedtimes, healthy food, vaccines, wearing a coat when it’s cold, bathing.

Glad to hear people on media telling people about the FACTS of gender. I have studied this deeply and I find that we are assigned our gender roles in society rather than being left to grow into a role that makes us comfortable. Another group who is left outside what is considered norm are androgynous.

Puberty blockers at great because they delay the choice until the child is a little older; I think the people who are transphobic or anti-trans should have no problem with simply delaying puberty, since it's literally not doing anything except delaying the process. How did trans people in the past, before puberty blockers existed, get through puberty? Was it always painful and awful as a default, or was a there a different way of coping that they knew/used throughout time? Was it that some societies were more accepting than our current conservative religious one? Was suicide or denial or commitment to an asylum or horrible things like that more common?

But I have a real question like seriously why is it that it has to disrupt the economy for them to actually make the decision not to put in the bill like is that really the level of capitalism that we have to reach to get some particular decision reconsidered? This is why business and politics really shouldn't be mixed
