Back in Black segments started in '96, when I was a junior in high school. I now have a daughter who is a senior in high school and we watch together. I don't know where the time goes, but I'm glad these segments have been a consistent part of life these last 28 years.
@coolioso8083 ай бұрын
Well congrats on that milestone and amazing how long Mr. Black has been going with these great segments. I just wonder if we are in for a pretty rough ride in the next 5 to 20 years if we don't do something about this dying Empire and global inequality system that we've been born into without our consent, you know? I really hope people can see that, ultimately, we need cooperation, collaboration and mutual aid to succeed in bringing about the future society we want to live in and we don't turn a blind eye to platforms and organizations that can help us get there. Something like One Small Town initiative or Mutual Aid Networks could be a huge benefit to any community of progressive minded people who are worried about the future but don't want throw everything out and still live where they do but make it better. Maybe we can, one small town at a time, perhaps one neighbourhood at a time. But through a snowball effect, things can get better much faster with that kind of collaboration.

The agrarians were ran out of that aisle of politics years ago and forced to sell their land by foreclosure to the industrialists. If I bring up how bountiful the land was back in the 18th century, it is the Conservatives that say "but slavery!" Conservatives are so desperate to keep Americans miserable, they will pretend to be a Liberal for fifteen minutes just to shut down any historical perspective beyond the 1970s, and threaten to move to China, which they never do.

I used to run the Apple Camp for a few years when I worked for them and it was honestly one of the coolest things they did. It’s completely free for any kid ages 7-12, sign-ups would fully book up in less than a day, and kids would choose between three camps where they learn to make a song in GarageBand, film and edit a movie with iMovie, or learn coding basics and make a (very) simple game in Swift. Summer in the 80’s: “Go outside, mommy is watching her soaps. Come home when the street lights come on. Find some friends to play with.” We were well prepared for the latch-key part by the mid 80’s, as we were basically raising ourselves. Also, no internet but “I heard that…” pretty much preceded every informative statement you learned from. “I heard that if you eat pop-rocks and drink coke, your stomach will explode!” “I heard that if you jump off the roof holding an umbrella, you’ll land fine.” “I heard that you can hide under your school desk to survive a nuclear bomb attack.” Kids will believe anything!
