There was a Zipline on the grounds so they could go zipping for Jesus. They had a phenomenal garden so everyone could see what the actual Garden of Eden looked like for Adam & Eve. They sold food and ice cream cones just to make sure the believers didn’t starve while checking out where they were created. My next statement was in regard to Santa, the Easter Bunny and tooth fairy my disappointment and loss of faith I held in my folks when I discovered fantasy vs reality. She asked me to leave her class. The following reality based discussions with my mother were fascinating...in a nutshell, she told me the more I exposed myself to various experiences, question what I'm told the more you learn to discern fantasy (ie misinformation) and reality, the more faith you will develop in yourself and your ability to function in the real world. To say I was a gadfly throughout my public education would be an understatement. By the time passed both my folks passed, pain in the ass that I presented, I actually had learned a thing or two from them, perhaps as important they actually learned a thing or two from me.

I was an independent and critical thinker from a very early age challenging my mother's desire to indoctrinate me into religion. Later in my teens my mother chose religion over family by joining the JWs. Sure she was there and kind but not willing to be a truely active participant in my journey through youth. Truth of the matter is religion is a crutch for the indoctrinated, weak- minded individuals who lack the mental toughness, intelligence, and fortitude to succeed in a challenging and often harsh world. If you think some higher being is there like a big brother watching over you then maybe you won't crumple under adversity or succumb to temptation. Of course the later is laughable because religious individuals are some the most hypocritical individuals. Whether you are grossly overweight, promiscuous, debt-ridden, lazy, etc. you are always forgiven for such sins/indiscretions so there is less guilt. All I have to say is what a crock of shit. The only biblical verse to me that has overarching relevance is "You reap what you sow."

@DavidRichardson1533 жыл бұрын
@@theonlytruetuhlulah9062 Thank you for proving my point. What's next, you going to through the same single verse from Leviticus, all while leaving out how the first 18 verses of the chapter it is from pertain to spelling out all kinds of incest? Or how in the next chapter over, it states, "do not put on a garment woven with two different kinds of thread"? And I find it funny how evangelicals always quote the Old Testament while, outside of Revelations, taking only one or two verses out of anywhere in the New Testament and always out of context. How about you crack open that Bible for once - you know, that book that's been sitting around collecting dust for many years now? At the very least, doing so will let the bats out. @@theonlytruetuhlulah9062 Oh, and one last detail that you probably didn't know, the last book of the Bible was estimated to have been written around 200 AD, while the very first Bible ever compiled - yes, *compiled* - was in 400 AD, and that is after they spent years poorly translating every book selected into Latin. @@asherikamichaela8425 I thank you for the warning, though I've already seen some examples of what you mean. All along the Ohio River, the attitudes of people living on either side seem identical, unwelcoming to those who don't look like them or don't think like them. Since you're kind enough to warn others I assume that you don't share their limited view on life. How do you keep going? Is it just a matter of keeping your head down and moving forward? I have been in situations where I know I don't fit in, like having to attend Pentecostal church services for a week and a half by our care givers while our parents were on vacation. Even at the age of 11 I knew that I didn't belong there, didn't share their thinking. I ask these questions out of curiosity, a human trait that will sometimes get me into trouble, like that kid that won't stop asking "why" on a seemingly endless loop. Thanks for your time peace

One of the most insightful things I learned: Canada takes in a large number of ppl everyyear as landed residents. One time I worked with a brain surgeon from Iran. He was doing his equivalencies in Canada. He told me a story of how a bus went off the road in Iran, full of school children and it rolled over. Instead of investigating and making safety improvement orders, the government said it was Allah's will and that nothing more needed to be done. He told me that religion was used and was readily accepted as a way to avoid responsibility in Iran for almost everything. I get the feeling some of that is making its way into Christian quarters as well in this day and age. Religion is a social negative.
