I have heard much more bad than good, then I watched this video all of the way through before I commented. What city has worse press continuously than Portland? I don't know of any. All of the other cities that get a lot of bad press, also have good press to balance it out. Portland doesn't have that balance. It's just bad, and this video showed me why, which obviously wasn't his intentions. Mr Woo didn't have an evil plan to hurt the tourist economy of Portland.

My best friend from high school has been living in Portland for the past 14 years. Blame the homelessness on the past 7 years of the city jacking up its cost of housing to double what it was. In just a couple of years time (around 2016 - 2018) was the biggest spike mind you. A house that was worth $350K is now worth $700K. No one there can afford that. That goes for rentals too. It's mostly LLC's buying up real estate the past 2 years. I know this because my friend kept getting way overbid by them every time he was interested in buying a house. He had to give up the ghost & him, his wife & his daughter had to move to Tigard because these LLC's would go way over asking price. I love all the people getting on here getting political about it when they have absolutely no idea what has really happened there. When you exponentially jack up the cost of living & wages don't match the costs, then this is what happens.

Before that, he was a paperboy before that. After navy was construction and the army for the longest from the 79s to the nineties. Taught generator instruction in San Bernardino. He knew his electrical. His students pitched in and got him a stainless steel thermos. Been gone since March of 2021. Check out Oaks Park roller rink if you're there. @@seanyboston all these comments try to pretend this stuff only happens in Portland. The fact is there are people on stolen bicycles breaking into cars in EVERY city and cities in poor red states have even higher crime rates. I live in Fresno now which is a VERY conservative city. We still have people driving around with Trump flags on their trucks here. We also have the highest crime rate in the state. Higher than San Francisco and even Los Angeles. Because crime comes from poverty. Not race or political affiliation. Portland on the other hand is nice and pretty and full of fun creative people doing fun and exciting things. Adam is in the worst part of town in this video and the streets and sidewalks are still clean and people are shopping and getting food. So yes. You may get your car broken into if you leave stuff in your car. But you might also get offered a free cupcake from a kind stranger right after that. Do those two things really cancel each other out? No. But are there people walking around downtown Fresno just to give strangers cupcakes? No. It’s scary down there. We don’t even go downtown here because it’s so ugly and dangerous.

Jessica: talk about a backwards compliment! You give Adam credit for loving Portland but "not enough to be a voice" to suddenly make the city "clean and safe." As a travel vlogger, what exactly do you propose Adam do that he has not already accomplished? Have you exposed to nearly 700,000 people the interesting and beautiful things that make Portland a vibrant and important American city? Adam just did that. He's not the mayor. He's not a city counsel member. He doesn't have access to government funding. Heck, Adam doesn't even reside there! But instead of sitting at home knocking out disingenuous diatribes against a KZbinr who's done well, Adam gets out there and shows the best - and often the quirkiest - of places, always upbeat and smiling with an infinite curiosity to explore. What have you done for Portland?

One of the prettiest areas in the country. Born and raised here. Come in late summer or fall, you’ll get sunshine. Mt Hood, the Gorge, mountain lakes, rivers. Portland Saturday market if you like the city life.

I hope you come back someday Adam! The city is going through it but it looks and feels WAY better than when you filmed this video. We've made a lot of progress.

I'm a medical courier in PDX and I've noticed over the last few weeks that things are SLOWLY starting to get better. Slowly being the key word. I noticed it while training another courier on my route, and he couldn't get over how so many curbside homeless camps have vanished almost overnight. God, I hope it's true.

Is Ground Kontrol still open? It is a must see if you are still in Portland today. Also, the view from the WSU Vancouver campus across the river is spectacular, and Timberline Lodge is the model for the hotel seen in the Nicholson "The Shining". So many wonderful things, but don't be fooled -- living there sucks.

25:07. That building used to be mier and franks department store. At Christmas back in the early 80’s the top floor was this massive Christmas wonderland. It had a weird monorail ride one year. One year it was a massive Lego display.
