Thanks for the tour of downtown Cleveland! It brought back memories of my childhood. In high school I would take the rapid transit downtown for 35 cents and sit in the bleachers at the old Municipal Stadium for 50 cents to watch the Indians several times a year. Great memories, even as much has changed. I think that empty mall had just opened shortly before I left Cleveland in the early 80s.

Remember going to the muni for games, youth group or union member dependents taking a bus up from Summit county. What, 80,000 thousand capacity. And an announced crowd of 7, 8 thou. Trying to slide down to the foul line boxseats and maybe get a souvenir. But only got chased out by ushers. What if George S. had stayed home? Go ahead and make your $ however you see fit? Yes the Yanks have a fine history, but the Steinbrenner's could have brought it all back home.

Very cool. I love where I live now but the 10+ yrs I lived in Cleveland were some of my best years of my life!!!! You captured the vibe of the city on an early Sunday morning perfectly. It's hard to believe that just a few hours before you shot this, the city was alive with crowds! Fri and Sat nights are a ton of fun with all the restaurants, bars and night clubs packed with people having a blast! When the Browns are playing downtown gets pretty wild ( or it used to, I haven't been there in almost 20 yrs). W 6th St used to be insane before and after the game. Then Browns sucked and lost ALL the time( not much has changed in that deparment!). However, if they somehow managed to win one, then the party was really ON!! It's funny seeing downtown all quiet like this and it shows you how cool the architecture is. It's a GREAT city! A lot to do and see there!

What a lot of beautiful architecture in Cleveland. I would love to see those malls come back, much better than the newer ones. Our mall is trying to come back. I see more and more people there when I go. I give my mall my business first whenever I can. I love this vlog as I had no idea what was in Cleveland. My favorite is Superman too. I was disappointed they put marvel in California Adventure and took out Bugs land for the little kids.
@kegs3572 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam, welcome to CLE! Some info on the Galleria. I had one of the last retail stores in there. The mall was built by Dick Jacobs, previous owner of the Indians and why the ballpark is still called "The Jake" by locals, and it was a total luxury gem of downtown shopping. You could buy from the national chains and the mall would deliver to your house later if you wanted. However, all the leases for the big stores came up for renewal at once and the mall found it hard to continue. Fun fact: the Hard Rock was interested in putting a restaurant in there because of the proximity to the Rock Hall of Fame but the mall was still posh and dynamic and the owner did not want a spinning guitar in front of his building. A new owner took over and he was also a great guy. I am a big supporter of public transportation and the city has done wonderful things, but one of the things that created the biggest challenge to us surviving there was when the city did major construction to create new bus lanes down Euclid Avenue, basically bisecting the city for a long time while it was being done and making it difficult to serve many of our customers. At the same time they took all the street parking along the mall and turned it into a bus lane. Sales were very challenged during those times. But we hung in there until our space was repurposed as part of a new YMCA. But we loved being a part of downtown CLE for 30 years and I still exist in suburbia.
