I found it interesting that Disney had more equipment to handle the issue than the tow truck company. I am disappointed Alamo didn't send out a retrieval team in a replacement car. Give Adam the replacement car, and the retrieval team can worry about how to get the car back to the garage.

Hi Adam, Great following you around on this frustrating day. Your first mistake was not calling Alamo, immediately. They need to handle it promptly, as you are now stranded. You should go to the head of the line. Especially if you had a flight. You could have left the fob with the front desk and Alamo has to pay for your Uber if they couldn’t get you a replacement car quickly. Never take responsibility for a rental car problem on your shoulders. Next, the key to the car is inside the fob. A button near the bottom should be the release and the key slides out. The hole in the drivers door may be covered by a plastic cap to the right side of the handle. It prays off with the key tip and now you can open the door. You’d then have learned the car battery was dead. Look at every fob going forward and know how to access the key and where the hole is on the door. That’s a Hyundai, I have a Kia so most likely extremely similar in design. Still you make these day in the life days fun and thank you for that. Stay healthy and happy! Joe

@@cag19549 well, I’d say depends who he got. But, I had a Hertz car go dead in an intersection in Hollywood. This was a long time ago, before cellphones. People helped me roll the car to the curb. Used a pay phone and called for help. They sent another car ant that driver took over getting to other car towed. I don’t remember the time frame but I had good memories of Hertz. Used them later as my primary when I was a traveling IT guy at the turn of the century. But the rule is call the rental company ASAP. Don’t try and fix anything. Firstly, it’s not your car!

Had a issue with my car awhile back. Couldn't unlock doors. Luckily mine has a key that slides out. Car still wouldn't start. Changed fob battery. Nothing. Tried the touch method nothing. Car had no power, turns out it was a bad connection on a terminal. With Adam's car the touch fob method wouldn't have worked cause if the car battery is dead there won't be any way to activate the sensor in the fob let alone turn over the starter. Seems that car had a bad battery. Probably past it's lifespan. At least they were able to jump it and it wasn't a mechanical issue. But still frustrating dealing with I'm sure. Glad you handled it with calm.

18:18 actually there’s a misconception about the 14 mph speed limit. The California Vehicle Code says certain golf carts…that have the ability to go 15 mph or faster need a license plate and to be registered. By having a 14 mph speed limit, no golf carts in the fleet need to be licensed or registered and golf carts can safely “keep up” with traffic with such a low mph limit.

Adam, I had the exact same problem fairly recently; parked at a rec center; then the key fob wouldn't work when I tried to unlock the car. Did the walk into midtown Nashville trying to find a replacement battery. Eventually got one - but it didn't fix the issue. I was able to get in w the slide out key; popped the hood - and it turned out the positive cable to the battery was slightly loose (pothole jarred it probably). Anyway - after tightening it w a multitool (I know - yours was a rental - no tools in back) all was good again... Frustrating!

You should have let the rental car company change the battery. If you would have broke it while opening the fob guess who has to pay a lot of money for a new fob, the woo does. Also if the car started why didn’t you just drive it back to the rental company? Why did it have to be towed? I’m so confused by the way you handled this whole situation🧐

@TheDailyWoo 26 күн бұрын
I was told when the car was stated to park it on the lower level so that’s what I did . At first I changed the battery because I HATE dealing with it calling places when I know a problem won’t help fixed , Just as it wasn’t. If walking to store to buy a new battery solved it and I could get on with my day then I choose that option
@appleggwhites
@appleggwhites 26 күн бұрын
@@TheDailyWoo I get that you were told that by someone just trying to resolve an issue following a company protocol , but then you had to be stressed out by the car having to be towed. I mean the rental car place was literally across the street from where you got the new battery. Seems like that would have been the first place to go logically. Also how did the tow company get the keys to the car if you left? I guess a simpler solution is harder to see when you are close to the problem sometimes.

Adam, I had the exact same problem with an Alamo rental car that I was driving from MCO to WDW to St. Pete's. The Remote died, the office replaced the battery, worked long enough to get me to St. Pete's then wouldn't work again. There was an actual key hidden in the fob so I could get into the car. The enterprise office in St. Pete's had limited hours, so got it towed, and went to get a replacement the next day, car stunk and was losing tire air. Exchanged it at the WDW office. Explained all when I returned the 2nd replacement to MCO and they refunded me half of the rental car cost. Hope the rest of your trip goes better!!

Yeah there should be a hidden small key inside the fob and you can remove a cover on the door handle to open door. To start car put the key fob near where you put your key to start the car.

Love your walk and talks so much! We rent from Enterprise typically and had our brakes literally go out mid vacation. They did a car swap for us that was inconvenient for a day trying to work that out but otherwise worked to get us back to our vacation. And while waiting for our car, they gave us a van they had on hand in the meantime to get around that day. Not ideal as it was 108 that day and cooling a van takes f o r e v e r but otherwise happy we could get into something else and continue on. So happy you'll be in California for awhile and looking forward to Halloween adventures!

What a nightmare with the rental car. I rent a lot of cars. Always try to get a car where there is also a regular metal key inside the fob that you can flip out in case something goes wrong with the fob (like an Altima and some other models.) Ask when they give you the car if the fob also contains a regular metal key and, if not, get a car that does.

Car company aside, and without car battery problems, if this happens to anyone else your keyfob has a physical key inside it. Google how to pull it out, unlock the car, if it's a push button start also Google where to place the dead fob and hit the start button. Your car should now start.

You might have the battery in backwards when it's in backwards sometimes it will not work you have to look at the back of the key fob to see which way the battery goes once you do and it should work a lot of people often put their batteries in backwards and then realize they have to do it one more time to make sure that it's in the proper way for it to work

Almost all PTS cars have a metal key inside of it. You can use that key to unlock the door. Sometimes there is a cover on the door handle that you need to pop off to see the key hole. When you get in the car, press the key fob to the PTS switch to start the car. Or ot had a key port to slide the key fob into.

I gotta feeling that it's the batteries that need replacing and not the key fob batteries do wear out and sometimes do you need replacing and I bet once you replace the batteries in the key fob because it's you so much you'll see a difference on how well it works you need to check on see what type of batteries work in that key fob and see what type it takes before you get batteries for that key fob so it will work properly your friend Donna who is your biggest fan

Hi Adam one of your biggest fans my name is Donna and I think it happens to be the batteries of your key fob you need to check and make sure that it's the battery is not the key fob that needs replacing but if it's the key fob and not the battery is a good idea to replace the key fob
