This was the park where I worked back in 1989-90-ish selling hot dogs & pizza. I’ll never forget meeting George Lucas right outside Star Tours before it opened. Whenever I visit it’s like stepping back in time.

During my first visit to WDW we visited Disney MGM & took the backlot tour. We purchased a few hand-painted cels produced during the tour. I still love them as they hang in my home today. I miss the tour and learning about the magic of the movie process & how things were done. thanks for bringing us along for the adventure today!

Really cool to see where the old Radio Station was. In my teens I started out my radio career being a board op every Saturday night for Mike Harvey's Supergold that he would do live from that studio. In the earlier 90s I was invited to tour the radio studios and meet Mike Harvey and got to watch him do a few live breaks. It was something I'll never forget.

MGM Studios was my favourite park as well , loved the Osbourn family Christmas lights, when they were on the houses so magical, then when they changed to the dancing lights , I liked them but not as magical , you took me back to my younger days when I was able to go to Florida, I saw all the shows you mentioned and the backlot tour and I even saw the Great Movie Ride at it's prime , I saw the Footlight parade working with the water , I only saw it once , then when I went again it had stopped moving , thank you for showing this , when you show the Theme Parks you take me back in time to happier times , Thank You .

"Despite all my rage..." omg...hahahaha... Ok, LOVED this video today sir, and how you took the time to explain all the details you could from all the photos I wish I had the time to explore. I was on the Disney play app yesterday while waiting in lines at Disneyland answering a bunch of trivia questions on the parks and I realized I learned a LOT of my info about WDW just from watching your channel. :) Sigh... The Great Movie Ride is the greatest love letter to the movies ride that ever was or will be, and I deeply regret never ever getting a chance to experience that myself. I'm borrowing Nicole Kidman's AMC promo line today..."Heartbreak feels good in a place like this..." 💚 cheers

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU DID IT! I thought there was Nothing I could be sentimental about at Disney World. but, when you started talking about strolling down residential street with the Osborne Family Lights, I started thinking of the times my girls were little and we looked forward to seeing that Every Year! got all choked up. 🙂 Also, when we were there in 93, I KNOW there was a theater there, next to the Brown Derby, before they had that street that goes to Tower of Terror. that was the original location for the Beauty and the Beast, before they built the permanent theater.

Adam, great vlog! Brought back many happy memories, My favorite ride was The Great Movie Ride which I would ride thru 2x during day, just lived the memories that it captured. I had my granddaughter with me and we would shop in the stores for Disney wares using our DISNEY DOLLARS. Glad I saved a lot, tho I did sell some on eBay,. Did you shop with them? Yes, the years have flown, especially since the curse, Covid. Also, one of my favorite places was the first store all the way to the left when you enter the park.. They showed/sold Hollywood memorabilia, pictures, postcards, old pins, some stars shirt or sunglasses. I would always buy something, Not as good anymore. Can’t remember from last year if it’s still there. Disney should pay you for all the information you provide, FANTASTIC, ❤️🙏🏽

Reading through the comments of people’s early experiences reminded me of my first trip to Disney in 2011….HS brought a Hollywood nostalgia that felt like an era that Walt Disney himself had a presence….I honestly was so moved by the theming at this park , and it was definitely my 2nd favorite, I got to visit again in 2016 , and shortly after it was announced that the Great Movie Ride was going to be reinvented, and I was sad . I felt that ride represented an era that shouldn’t be lost 😞. I’ve also been disappointed again by splash mountain, I love princess and the frog but brair rabbit is so classic …Thank you Adam for keeping this nostalgia alive through your experiences and the amount of research you do for your videos , no one vlogs this detailed for Disney or any of your journeys ❤ from TX

I loved the MGM studios back when it was new. The great movie ride was definitely the highlight of the park for me. I know things have to change with time but the greatest times going to Walt Disney world we're going to Epcot and writing them Maelstrom, and of course the magic Kingdom with all the old school attractions like horizon, The original pirates of the Caribbean, splash mountain, the progress show. Disney will never be the way I remembered it 30 years ago.

I was fortunate enough to visit the park the first week it was open. It was pure coincidence that my family's first-ever trip to the USA (I'm English) was to Orlando at the start of May 1989 and we visited the park about 3 days after the opening day. Mickey Power Pole series. Disney MGM Studios 34th Anniversary Edition! I was lucky enough to buy some Star Wars merchandise inside the park when it was still MGM Studios back in ‘05 and I didn’t even have a ticket. They let me in for like a half hour just to shop.

I still, once in a while say MGM without thinking. It truly was, in 89- 92 my all time favorite park. The animation building was the most fascinating to me. I do agree that what was taken out of the park was necessary mostly because of the break from MGM. Not only that; but I think it’s true, like you said, a lot of what was there wouldn’t get the reaction now needed to sustain the park. It will, however be missed by many of us. RIP, Great Movie Ride❤
