I lived in New Bern when soda machines were still a nickel, movies were a quarter for the matinee. The school had two buildings, one from 1806 and and the newer one built in 1886. Thanks for another good video.

Yes, Yes, Yes! When I was in my 40's, I was Senator of Arts and Sciences at Isothermal Community College, and our Student Government went to New Bern...,right before I moved to Cullowhee and went to Western Carolina University. We represented some of the Best of Community Colleges. Oh, it was beautiful and very interesting. Absolutely gorgeous place. This entire experience in my own life spanned from 2007-''pert near'' NOW. My own hotel room overlooked a marina, which was just so beautiful. As a Mountain Girl, I always love the State of NC.

One thing that I have found is that NC seems to be a birthplace of many soft drinks, or as we always called it...''Soda Pops''. I just always thank our Creator for our Beautiful State and everything that it offers, in what seems like two totally different climates and settings in Nature.

I'm more of a Pepsi drinker than a Coca-Cola drinker. I never knew where Pepsi was made so this is cool 😎 to see. I like Wild Cherry 🍒 Pepsi too. I never heard of Black Cherry Pepsi before but, it sounds good. I never liked Mountain Dew because of the color of it. It looks like it's already been drank. Michael J. Fox, Jeff Gordon and Cindy Crawford also promoted Pepsi.

The black cherry Pepsi is a new flavor that just came out a few months ago. It was released at the same time as cream soda Pepsi. Hearing Adam say black cherry Pepsi tastes like medicine makes me glad I never tried it.

Love this!!! I lived in New Bern for 12 years, recently moved back to PA. I still visit often, and always stop in the Pepsi place when downtown. This video just made me happy!! Side note: I lived down there when Moore’s BBQ made their world’s largest BBQ and partaked in some…very yummy!

New Bern resident here. Transplanted in 2001 by the Marine Corps. Tried to leave twice. The quaint downtown area with all its history kept drawing me back. Now I just call it home. I love the fact that something so popular came from a little hole in the wall town.

We've lived in New Bern for 27 years. Your opening shot looks like you were at Union Point. Unfortunately, the cities alderman are planning to allow Union Point to be sold to build another hotel. Recently, there have been protests about this issue. New Bern is the home of the original capital, Tryon Palace. If you watch the series Outlander, you probably have heard of Tryon Palace. The show Sleepy Hollow did some filming in the area of Tryon Palace. Mitchell's Hardware is another interesting local, family owned business. And let's not forget the underground railroad.

But you already knew that. However, we need to watch the situation carefully to find out what their "real" objective is. I believe Union Point was more of a distraction, and they were willing to lose the battle to win their true goal. Although I hope that is wrong.

My wife and I watch you all the time. I know you said you were going back to Florida sometime in February. On your way back you need to stop off at Mcleod Farms in Mcbee SC. This is right up your alley they have old coke signs to old cars and trucks old tractors get you some apples. Its a farm or road side attraction.

You have not tasted a good Pepsi until you have had the old Pepsi made with real sugar out of a glass bottle. I know it isn't the best to drink but just for occasionally. The taste difference between the old Pepsi with real sugar and the newer with the corn syrup is amazing. Coke tastes ok but it's always been Pepsi for me. RC Cola is also a decent cola as well. At 14:30, I'm digging those old school Pepsi logo shirts.

My Dad visited it often as he grew up there.No one is left there now family wise.My Paternal Grandfather had a furniture store downtown from 1929 to the late 1950's.I'll be buried there someday in old Cedar Grove.

OMG. I just found this!!!!! I grew up in New Bern and visit my family there often. If you want to see some of the original pharmacy furnishings eat in the Chelsea. They bought a lot of the interior. You should also visit some of the colonial houses. This video makes me so happy!

Ah, New Bern, NC. My Grandparents lived in New Bern. They retired there in 1986 and then they moved up to Maryland to be closer to my Dad and our family because of serious health problems they were dealing with back in 2000. They both passed away in 2002. We would go visit my grandparents in New Bern every summer before heading to the beach in Emrald Isle, NC in the late 80's and throughout the 90's.

Ironically, Pepsi Cola wasn’t invented in the basement of the pharmacy in 1893. Caleb didn’t even own a pharmacy until 1894. It was located three doors down to the south of the Pepsi Store on Craven Street. He didn’t buy the Pepsi Store location until 1895. His concoction, “Brad’s Drink”, was two years old when this happened. I have uncovered the proof and am working to get the historical marker changed…

Hey Adam! My Aunt and Cousins own Hearne's Jewelers. I remember as a little boy running all around that store with my cousins Mike and Craig. If I remember correctly (it has been at least 45 years ago) that there was a State Historical Sign in front of it. They moved to a different location and are still in business. However, they were in that location for years and years before they moved. Thanks for the memories! Cliff

When I was in my early 20's, my friends and myself would buy our own large Hawaiian pizza each and I'd then proceed to buy a 6 pack of Pepsi to guzzle it down with as I scarfed the pizza down within 20 minutes lol. Adam the founders of New Bern were Swiss, that's for sure, the original Bern (Capital of Switzerland) is my hometown, where I went to school and lived over 20 years! Fun fact the Patriarch (founder of Bern around 1190) was on a hunt and named his town after the first animal he killed (that's a Legend though) Sad Fact, it was a Mamy Bear and he kept her cubs, in a Bear Pit for luck! As long the Bears were alive, Bern will prosper, this means that since Bern was founded, they always kept living Bears in a Huge Pit, it was the attraction (instead of a Zoo) later (i mean in the year 2000) they made a park out of it, stil around 7 living Bears in the Capital! Another fun fact, even if we have Pepsi- and Coca Cola in our country, we never and still have not Mountain Dew or Dr Pepper in our drink assortment... do i need to be jealous? lol

Interesting as usual. New Bern also was a pivotal piece of real estate when Caleb was born. Because it had hospitals and was the site of 2 battles, old New England cemeteries contain many soldiers listed as killed or died at New Bern.

My family has lived in New Bern since 1710. My grandfather knew Caleb Bradham and my grandparents home on George St was purchased and demolished to recreate the Tryon Palace. You ought to go to New Bern during the Ghost Walk!

Been hoping you would do this after watching the Coca Cola episode. I switched to Pepsi after being a pretty hardcore Coke fan for my entire life. Once I started drinking Pepsi at a local pizza place, I realized I actually preferred the smoother flavor as Coke has that bite. Wild Cherry Pepsi is the best cola drink out there.
