Yeah it's honestly really horrifying as somebody who passes as white, but is mixed with Peruvian.... People have said stuff in front of me, because they think I'm a 100% white, that is honestly so horrifying. I remember my mother too, who is 100% peruvian, had to deal with this from her students. Because liberals are more "accepting" it means that they are more accepting of conservative views as well. That's what being a liberal is.. Accepting doesn't mean changing one's own views or implementing conservative views into political action or laws. Conservatives, on the other hand, will not be happy until everyone toes the line (their line - no wavering). The huge problem that follows once everyone sort of toes the line is that factions are created and new lines, usually more restrictive, are imposed.

A former coworker who is Hispanic lives in the same neighborhood as I do and we had become friends even though we were polar opposite when it came to politics. I’m liberal. He’s an evangelical conservative Trumper. Fortunately, he and I were able to have debates and discussions and respectfully disagree and never let our differing viewpoints affect our friendship. Most of our neighbors are also liberal leaning and one day, he up and decided to pack his family up and move to a more rural Trumpier small town over a hundred miles away. Within the very first week, his mailbox was filled with Trump mailers and someone scribbled on each one of them that he and family weren’t welcome and to go back to Mexico. A few weeks later, their tires were slashed, windows shattered and spray painted with red paint, Trump Country. He and his family moved back into their house here in the neighborhood before anyone had a chance to consider buying it.

I live in a town where the vast majority of people are conservatives. It is true that there is more racism, more bigotry, less tolerance, you have to watch the FACTS that you cite unless you want to get into it with people, etc. On the whole, conservatism acts as a comfortable home to those with closed-minded views. It looks “third world” I’m told. “Makes the neighborhood look worse” and like “it’s gone downhill”. It’s actually a long list really. Too long for me to write. What it isn’t is realistic. Even the scathing so called judges are no better. They are only liars ime. I always thought it seemed so exhausting to put on such a show. To pretend to be what you’re not. This isn’t Idaho, but it’s still conservative country around my area. Oh, except one midwestern city. One city in an otherwise red conservative state.

The "conservative" family should have looked in the mirror and realized that they wouldn't be welcomed. Idaho is a white state, and large parts of the population want to keep it that way. It doesn't help that they are coming from California either. I doubt I will ever be able to grasp the concept of non white conservatives in the US. Because fear and hatred of non whites are basically part of the conservative platform. It almost seems like people who want to have a traditional family arrangement are brainwashed into believing that somehow you need to be a conservative to accomplish that. Meanwhile, they are supporting people who ultimately want to harm them. Kinda crazy..

I live in AZ where turf is treasured because it is low maintenance and requires no extra money after it is installed, because you never need to water it. Atlanta and the metro areas of GA are very liberal and that is where most of the Ga population is concentrated. The rural areas like MTG district are very conservative.

worked in food all my life. went from California to Virginia. Worked at a Mexican food place called Panchovilla. The amount of white people who would come to me a mixed Hispanic person who's very pale to speak negatively about Mexican people speaking Spanish at these establishments was a constant. my go-to was always "You'd expect some Spanish with your Spanish rice." It was normally my nice way of expressing to them, I am not a safe haven for them to run to just because I have paler skin.

The same for me. I'm mixed race with paler skin because I avoid the sun, and look racially ambiguous. Most people can not tell my race. This has made me privy to a lot of yt people's blatant prejudice towards Hispanics & Latinos. I just let them finish saying their racism, & then respond with either " You know I'm Mexican, right?" or "You mean Mexicans/Hispanics/Latinos like me?".😆 Oh, the stuttering & backtracking that I get after that!😄😅😁

I got a double major in college which was Russian and Political Science. I studied abroad and lived in Russian almost a whole year. Even though I have immense gratitude for studying abroad, it made me be beyond grateful to live in America. My study abroad ended in December of 2019. You don’t want to live in Russia. Trust me. There were many times a day I wanted to go back home to the US. Two experiences I remember was that: 1) a Russian student asked me what I thought about President Trump. I told her I hated him. She was shocked that I could say that in public and not fear being killed for saying that. 2) The second thing I saw was my host mom’s home her daughter told her and me that she hated Putin as the president of Russia. Her mother was freaking out saying you can’t say that because you don’t know who is listening. Please Don’t let the USA become like Russia.

Something I learned when I moved from Maryland to Arizona for College, that a Maryland " Conservative " was often left of an Arizona " Democrat ". I think they learned a " conservative " in California, isn't the same as being a conservative.

No they aren’t. I grew up in a deep red rural area in Indiana and they were always angry, frequently violent (I can’t tell you how much family violence there was among my friends) steeped in bigotry.
