Something everybody's not talking about is that the woman who fouled Clark has a history of dirty play, suspensions, and was even cut from a team for challenging a teammate to a fight. And something the WNBA needs to consider, if they don't institute a flagrant-3/targetting foul with an automatic multi-game suspension, is that their cash cow may decide she'd rather make 20+ times as much in Europe or some other league, and the W will fall right back into irrelevance.

It's a difference in scale. I'm sure Reese brought LSU fans and some others, Brink brought Stanford fans and some others, and the other rookies and veterans brought their university-based fans and some others, all to the tune of perhaps a few hundred to a few thousand fans apieces. However Clark brought not just Iowa fans, but fans from across the country and even from outside the USA, to the tune of hundreds of thousands if not more. She knows how to entertain on the court, she signs autographs for kids, she praises others, she carries herself very well, etc. Besides being a good person, she knows how to market herself better than anyone in the WNBA. Without NIL, she may have been the only college player from this rookie class to have any significant name recognition. NIL helped all of the rookies before they got to the WNBA, but it helped Clark an order of magnitude more.

I was supportive of Angel at first but she has totally lost me. Angel needs a ego check and a reality check - this did NOT start with that game vs LSU, it is all about CC. Sorry Angel, that's the reality. The only reason many people were even watching that game was CC, and people are not watching more now as a result of that game, it is CC. I don't think Reese has even played as big a part as they're saying in this vid. In my humble opinion, the event in that game was nothing more than a blip. The attention is all about CC's skills. That's it. Plain and simple. And I don't think the jealously has anything to do with race, sexuality or any "woke" issues. It is just plain ego and jealousy.

Rivaleries between teams cannot be planned or faked. Caitlin is a superstar. She now makes a boat load of money because fans want to see her play, more game tickets are sold and companies make goods about her. Golf has not respected and has not protected Tiger during his prime. Golf suffered from Tiger absence. Racism, greed and jealousy has something to do in this. The WNBA has to protect players against violence and injuries. If not, it will sink back to where it was before. Basketball has a golden opportunity to embrace and her to grow and go beyond lackluster racism, greed and jealousy.

Dan, the reason i didnt say anything about the Reese foul is simple. The offender was assessed a Flagrant 2 and thrown out of the game and received a suspension. Carter was given a personal common foul. Even when the league stepped in, IMO they were trying to appease the players. So they gave a weak flagrant 1 with no suspension. Should have the same as the Thomas violation. Especially considering of her past record in the league. The foul in Seattle under the basket when yhey played the Storm, when Caitlyn drove for a layup and the Storm player trying to block a shot, the result a violent collision in the air, resulting in Caitlyn hitting her head, and no foul called??? Than with the video from a fan at the game with VV, where her and Caitlyn received technicals, you can see that VV clearly threw a punch at Caitlyn and hit her in the chest or neck. The league isnt helping and i said from the jump her coach and teammates are not defending her. So she has realized about 4 games ago she is on her own. And it is reflected in her FG % and she is taking less shots, because her concentration on bball has been interrupted, which is affecting her confidence.

Dear Mr Patrick … I honestly started watching because of Angel Reese. Why? She’s unapologetic on who she is, and is a CHAMPION! But you don’t ask enough people who look like me, so you wouldn’t know. Both things can be true: People who look like you are watching because Caitlin Clark and People who look like me are watching because of Angel Reese. And there are fans who watch because of Cameron Brink, and so on! The percentage of people who watch are different too … depending on the demographic. For example, if you go to more white areas, they may watch because of Caitlin. But if you go to more Black areas, they are watching because of Angel Reese. However - and this is IMPORTANT …. since there are more white-owned mainstream media platforms AND more white people in America overall, the overall viewership scale tips towards Caitlin. Those are facts! But to say people don’t watch because of Angel Reese is just plain incorrect. Once again, you may want to ask more people who look like me (especially BLACK WOMEN who are new viewers) who they watch the WNBA for. Or maybe Black women just aren’t important to you.

No, it was not just a 'hard foul', it was a targeted blindside knockdown away from the ball. The ball was not even in play. It was a personal attack, tell it how it is. Yes the commissioner should be the person doing something about it. There should be a multi game suspension and fines for Chenedy's verbal and physical attack on CC, and one game ejection for the Reese hard foul. Neither should be happening. Most people don't want to watch this physical vendetta BS in women's sports. Be civilized, women are supposed to have less testosterone. Call for T levels and anabolic steroid testing in the W. May be why some women are getting an edge, and raging. Women's BB is not supposed to be men's BB, or a contact sport, where is following rules, the family friendly and civility part of the game? If the WNBA has always been like this, no wonder it got little attention- I predict, if this continues, the attention will fade away again.

Some of these veteran women are the best women basketball players in the world and may not make 30 million in their career and their window is closing. Does Dan Patrick hear himself when he talks for 10 minutes? Caitlin Clark's celebrity is only reaching the levels that it is because of Angel Reese and other WNBA players. Everyone knows the role that Magic and Larry had in the resurgence of the NBA in the 1980s. It was not one person, it was both of them, plus Dr J, working off each other. If Caitlin Clark did not have the issues with Angel Reese and others, very few people would still care about the WNBA. Patrick mentioning golf is absurd, that's an individual sport. Mentioning Gretzky going to the LA Kings is absurd, he was already one of the top two players in NHL history. Messi was already an all-time great, and soccer is one of the most watched sports in the world. These are weak comparisons by a dude who has to make things up about this, since Clark is not one of the five best players in the WNBA. The best part is when one of the guys says, "Welcome to life as a woman" [4:15], he is right but Patrick does not really want to accept it. The league was picking up steam, and having this rookie class without the Great Savior factor would have been better for the league. Because interest from guys will fade before this WNBA season is over. Few guys will return after the Olympic break since the NFL preseason will already have started. It's fine to be annoyed at the gatekeepers, but then don't start telling the league or players what they should do about Clark. Guys do like the mindset, "Don't stop me from telling you what to do!" Like "What her teammates need to do... And the commissioner of the WNBA has got to..." [5:00], 40 seconds after complaining about the gatekeepers, while wagging his finger. Does he know what his entire thought is? After the hit by Alyssa Thomas on Angel Reese, Reese said that she was fine with the play. But Patrick has to weigh in, and talk about "injury waiting to happen when she fell". [5:30] Does he think Reese is made of porcelain? Clark had a great flop when Reese knocked her down with about 3 min left of the Fever-Sky game. But go ahead and lie about whether "Reese is jealous of Caitlin Clark" [6:30] because Patrick has mindreading abilities into Reese's psyche. "She thinks she's the reason why this is all happening" Can a person's words be more misconstrued? Well, yes, what Diana Taurasi said to SVP was pretty twisted by tons of guys commenting on it. But of course, guys know when a woman is jealous... Reese didn't say this happened because of her, she said it happened because of their game. But Patrick has the omniscience to know that Clark was "going to get eyeballs". But seriously, why is her style of play so exciting? Most guys have been asking for the net to be lowered so more women can dunk. And yes, we're fixated with Steph, and Clark is the female Steph, except Ionescu is also like that. If Clark had gone to one of the bigger college programs like South Carolina, Stanford, or UConn, we would probably be talking about her a lot less, because she doesn't have the athleticism of Michael, the strength of LeBron, or the size of Wemby. She's Curry coming out of Davidson, who needed 5 years before becoming an All Star. And she's still at collegiate level strength, not WNBA level. Just look at how she crumpled to the floor from the screen Breanna Stewart set. Last year's MVP. Clark has captured the imagination because of the story around her, which includes the villains like Reese. Otherwise, we'd be yawning. And yes, "now, everybody wants to have an opinion on this" [7:20], like Patrick who "clutters, muddies up everything the women have tried to do". Does he have the self-awareness to realize that he is part of the problem he is describing? "It was personal with her" [8:30] more of Patrick's mindreading as he has an opinion on this and muddies up everything. And he's telling on himself, he wants a rivalry. Yet he's diminishing Reese's role in the role, when they've both only been in the league for a month.
