She used that made up controversy to promote herself, and has never let go of her jealousy and hatred of Clark to this day. Nobody would care about Reese if it wasn't for Clark. Reese is an overrated player with mediocre stats, and her best stats are from rebounds, which she piles up based off of her own missed shots. Can we stop calling it a rivalry? Clark and Reese don't have a rivalry. Reese has a jealousy, Clark doesn't care. Reese is competing against Clark, Clark is competing against herself. Also, can we stop calling everything "a basketball play" just because it's a thing that can happen during a basketball game? Basketball players aren't dumb, they're fully aware that targeting someone during "a basketball play" provides plausible deniability. They also have elite hand-eye coordination and depth perception - Reese clocked Clark upside the head with her *forearm*, missing the ball by several feet. Either she needs glasses, she forgot how long her arms were, or she took a swipe at something she knew she couldn't block.

7:50 is not an informed take. If any bball player with decent defense was to be honest with 7:50 commemter, they would tell him that at the angle Reese contested the shot the only way to get that block is to time your jump by taking off before the offensive does. THE MOMENT the offensive player at that angle ahead of you takes off prior to you, aint no way in heck you can get up and block that shot instead of whacking the head of the offensive player. This leads me to think Reese may have done that on purpose.

7:34 lol…man…ppl just be sayin anything…nobody is obligated to actually be objective about anything on any platform huh?…I only notice CC because of Angel and in attempts to be objective about the ppl that want to see CC…you only have to look at one metric…WNBA League Pass is up 355% compared to WNBA public television viewership which is up 300%…Caitlin Clark games are ALL on public television and ESPN…you have to have league pass to watch Angel Reese…ppl that like fundamental basketball like Reese…ppl that like some extra fire and edge like Reese…ppl that don’t even really watch basketball watch full Angel Reese games…I’m a 36 year old black man and this is the first time in my life that I’ve ever made it a point to watch one team every time they play in any sport…although I’ve always loved basketball and was just old enough to appreciate Jordan in his prime…I wasn’t entertained by watching the sport on television…Reese is the first person that triggered in my mind that it could be entertaining to watch remotely…and then Chennedy Carter supported it…then I grew to like Mitchell after watching Indiana beat Atlanta…but…I’m not catching Angel by way of CC…I’m catching absolutely all of Women’s basketball by way of Angel Reese…and there are a TON of ppl that share the same sentiment…they just don’t know nor care about how to navigate to the “traditional” platforms to express it…y’all just be makin some irresponsible claims in these broadcasts.

Thank you for saying all of this. I've watched the WNBA off and on since the Swoopes, Leslie, et al. days, but have been reintroduced because of my interest in Angel and Kamilla being on the Sky. I love how Angel plays. When she figures out how to score more efficiently, she'll be a beast. She has the grit and toughness that I love. For these platforms that don't even watch games to insinuate that no one is here for anyone but CC is wild. I'm not here for her. Further, I've learned about Aja, Arike, Breanna, Jonquel, Kahleah, and so many other great current players. But I noticed that Angel fans seem more open to watching and appreciating all the players. Can't say the same for most CC fans.
@duvalovertonii66016 ай бұрын
@@focusedchick I feel similar…sad part is…all of the ppl that want to make sports content are more on the CC side…but they also absolutely love how the current NBA plays…and I get it…but there’s more than like 9million basketball lovers in America….and modern NBA has lost like half its fans because of that play style…ppl just need to be more responsible…and mainstream media needs to put more work into seeing what ppl want…it’s always trying to control the narrative somewhere and we all pay for it

@duvalovertonii6601 you're so right...even the thumbnail for this video is trying to create an image of Angel targeting CC. I actually thought more of Dan Patrick's platform than this. So much of the media has decided to make this about CC's popularity and that Angel and other WNBA players are jealous and bitter. If there was any bitterness to be had it would be because the media tries to make CC a perfect, flawless victim and everyone else talentless "thugs," or (if they're being nice) "bullies." CC is very good, but she's not perfect. Heck, she has 3 technicals already. That doesn't get discussed. Not to mention many players are straight up outperforming her on the court. It's been so disappointing and borderline damaging to see the disregard for the rest of the league to boost CC up. And I'm with you on the NBA. I've pretty much stopped watching it when I was a lifelong fan because its all 3s and no more substance. I love the WNBA playstyle. It keeps me engaged. But as you said, fans like us are sadly in the minority.
@duvalovertonii66016 ай бұрын
@@focusedchick well that’s just the thing…we aren’t the minority…we’re by and large the majority…but that’s not what mainstream media wants to feed the ppl…but the NBA has less than half the viewership that it had 6 years ago because SO many ppl got bored with it and just didn’t want to watch anymore…WNBA ratings just might match NBA ratings this year…with a third the number of teams and with the regular season running during another leagues playoffs AND having to be split in 2 because of the Olympics. That’s how much ppl want 90s ball back…also…there just aren’t more ppl watching CC than Reese…that’s the way they spin it because they want the league to be a certain way….but in the end the truth will tell all

@@duvalovertonii6601I certainly hope you're right (about there being more of us than it appears). I know my circle feels the way we do about the NBA and WNBA. But I 100% see what the media is doing and it's a shame because it could be so much better. Of course, none of this is anything new. I already decided to pull back from the media narratives and just enjoy the games. Either way, thanks for the calm, insightful convo. It's nice to have a civilized back and forth in a comment section like this.

Rivalry? LOL. Reese is clinging desparately to Clarks talent and popularity. Her name was tied to Clarks only because she did something disrespectful to Clark on a national stage and she is milking it for everything it's worth. Rivalry in talent? That is completely laughable. The Bird/Johnson comparison is dumb. It is more like Bird/Rodman.

CC brings mega millions, TV deals, and quite possibly legitimacy that has never been there before.Seriously think scoring points in a league that loses to high school ball teams is a milestone? The entire league is pathetic with very few exceptions.

Why did you change the NBA put the three-point line because it made it so much more exciting because they were sick and tired of these tall players clumsy around the basket just standing at the basket and dunking the ball you take that talent. That's nothing but the size difference because if the smaller player was just this fall they would be way better than the big player that's why so many attend the game because they can relate to the play of Clark. Because they know how hard it is to shoot from that distance that she shoots from

Chicago has two flagrant fouls all season, they're both against Clark. Go ahead tell me there's no hate n jealousy but one team has two flagrant fouls n both against same player, the odds of that are 137 to 0. 140 players in the league minus the twelve on Chicago n Clark that means Chicago hasn't flagrant fouled 137 others players Coincidence or sinister???

You can say she isn't one of the best 12 but how many players could be the only player on their team and look good? If there was a redraft in the WNBA of all players are you saying she wouldn't be one of the first 12 taken? At the same time are you saying Taurasi is one of the best 12 or Griner? Just like Jordan, and Tiger, Caitlin Clark is one of those few and it's not a surprise that she is the only other basketball player to get the Wilson endorsement. Having said that, leave CC alone for crying out loud, both left and right. She just wants to play basketball.
