JB is always entertaining, no matter where. I just remember how huge McCovey was, like Bench said, he looked like he could/would crush any pitch thrown to him, R.I.P. Mr. Willie Lee McCovey...

I got JBs autograph on my catchers glove before his final game in SD. Late in the game, Bench had not yet played, the fans started chanting " Bench,Bench, Bench". He pinch hit into a ground out and got a standing ovation as he ran off the field. You gotta love baseball

Cool fact... One year, Willie Mac (#44 SF Giants) tied for the NL HR title with Henry Aaron (#44 Braves). Each hit 44 bombs!

When I was a kid, I saw McCovey hitting batting practice at Shea. He'd hit them into the parking lot on the regular. And one, I swear, almost hit a No. 7 train tracks God knows how many feet away. Those were the days when the Giants would come to town; especially, for a Friday twilight double header.

If you stayed injury-free because he did miss a lot of games during his career you would have hit 680 home runs great ball player

I was at a game in 69 against the reds with pete rose playing second base and MAC COMES UP TO THE PLATE AND THEY DO THE McCovey shift .rose goes to right field as the forth outfielder and three guys to right side.nobody on the left.Mca hit a line drive..like only he could and shortstop playing buck jumps leaps high and the ball goes over his glove by inches then to the outfield to rose who jumps high in the air his glove just above the fence at the warning track.yep a 400 foot line drive about 10 feet high.you could not believe how funny it looked like a cartoon comedy.one then the other trying to catch the line drive.could he (mac) do that every time?as the himself said."just about".

Bobby Richardson who cought Willie's line drive to end the 62 series claims that he positioned himself in that spot because of playing against Ted Williams....

True. Ted related how a salivating Ty Cobb buttonholed him under the stadium one time to tell him to hit to the left side of the field cuz it was wide open. And Ted said, Nope.

McCovey is a candidate for THE most underrated player of all time. Mays cast a huge shadow. I always preferred McCovey. I still think about the totally smoked line drive into Bobby Richardson's glove to this day
